Official NFL Offseason Thread: Come back NFL! Come... back...

Apparently since LT measured in at 6'1" rather than his listed 6'3", his draft status has been hurt. If he does drop some, whoever ends up with him is gonna be lucky as hell -- because he's easily the best LB in the draft and a freakish talent. The NFL Network is saying he's still the top-rated LB and will go early, but we'll see.

This draft seems pretty damn deep to me. Last year it was either Reggie Bush or Mario Williams; this year it could be either of these guys with the first pick. After that it's probably a shuffle to fill in spots for certain teams.
JaMarcus Russell - who gained 25 extra pounds of fat
Joe Thomas - Don't think the Raiders will go with OL this year, they got screwed by that Robert Gallery pick a couple years back
Calvin Johnson - Manned up at the combine
Adrian Peterson - Was top 2/3 in every category for Running Back

I sort of am hoping that we can trade up for two picks in the 1st round. Get a defensive lineman with the 11th pick (if we can get lucky Alan Branch, or Gaines Adams, otherwise Adam Carriker), and Robert Meacham with that second pick. I think this guy will be one of the better Receivers in a receiver heavy draft. Ted Ginn could also surprise but I don't think we will take him with our 11 because we are going defense first (but Nolan is known to go Best Player Available).

A lot of teams will get lucked out because great players will continue to drop down the draft and some teams will get a gem with their second and even third rounders. Lawerence Timmons (who you guys seem to really like, I haven't seen him play that much since I always get west coast games first), I've seen him go as high as 15 and as low as 29. Pretty ****ing crazy.

Colts season DVD came out today from NFL Films. I struggled to decide whether to buy it or wait a few years for the box set. In the end I picked it up.

I'm hoping Brady Quin falls to my Skins at the 6th pick. I believe that at least one team will want to get him and will be willing to trade up. The teams that are interested pick directly after us which will allow us to still get Branch and horde picks.

:D

knowing the skins, you would probably trade that #1 pick for a mediocre player

:lol :lol :lol I can't even be mad at you. Heck, I'll be shocked if we still have the pick by the time draft day comes.

if adalius thomas is a bust then so be it. i'm just happy we are actually spending money now as opposed to a couple years ago where we had one of the top 10 worst rosters in nfl history and york wouldn't open the checkbook.

Yeah, can't wait for the season to start. Earlier today Alex Smith was on a local radio station talking about random shit, seemed pretty confident about where we are going (and said that if they keep the same offensive system, he feels they will accomplish way more then last season). Good stuff.

The 49ers' already robust salary cap situation grew a little healthier Monday when they cut cornerback Sammy Davis, saving them nearly $1 million in salary cap space.

... This guy sucks so much ass lol

Either way ADT is a major upgrade over Paris Harlyson, TJ Slaughter, and Hannibal Navis. People saying ADT might be a bust need to realize wee need talent, and its not like he is a 22 year kid fresh out of the draft, he is a proven player. He is going to make our team much better baring injury, and thats all that matters at this point.

everytime i saw sammy davis on the field i said here comes a deep completion. dude sucked ass but was better than rashaun woods. actually, maybe he wasn't because at least woods could do us no harm by sitting on the bench while on the injured list.

if the Cowboys had AC Slater at QB, they would have won the Super Bowl. I mean, c'mon, he beat VALLEY!! He could beat anybody.

Remember when he crammed for his makeup exam AND beat Valley in the same night? Dude was a freak.

How the **** did he not get a football scholarship? And how did Screech not go to MIT, he built a god damn robot!

Zack ****ed up his friends' lives.

Why is it zach's fault? Maybe screech stayed for Lisa.

And Slater should have have gone to the army like his dad.

Because he was a better wrestler. Everyone knows that!

Even so, he ends up going to a community college with Zack to wrestle?! Seriously, Zack is a douchebag. He destroys his friends' lives just so he can get with Kelly.

I wonder what he did to get Kelly kicked out of her college so she'd be forced to go to Cal U.

...this is what happens when the NFL offseason is in full gear.

Slater was multitalented. He could wrestle. He could play football. He could fix cars. He could dance. He could play the drums. He was like the original Bo Jackson.

but could he predict the future?

After further racking of my old brain I remember Slater getting a football scholarship... it was to Stan... Stan... Stansbury!!!!!!

man right after the tony romo debacle happened i wanted so badly to come up with a south park style video with me narrating tony romos season and it would go "Tony Romo is starting QB for the dallas cowboys. He led his team to the playoffs, made the probowl, and become a national sensation. He has held many extra points through the season <eeeeeerrrrr!> but he's about to find out that holding an extra point in the playoffs ISN'T so easy! See tony romo this winter in <insert witty movie title with romos name in it"

the problem is i got lazy and by the time i came up with the inspiration and tools to do it the romo bashing had faded and the playoffs continued. what could have been! plus i would've just been copying souf park :D

yeah jamie dukes is pretty weak. i don't like his weekly analysis during the season with him trying to coin ridiculous phrases (i can't remember what his main one is... it's something like boom-shack-a-lack-uh, but lamer) and overall he's just not a great commentator. dick vermeil, mooch, rich eisen, woodson and others are all legit though.

you forgot the marshall man

i didn't mention marshall because i took a vow years ago to never have anything nice to say about a ram. and i have nothing bad to say about his work on NFL network :(

p.s. **** i complemented dick vermeil. i'm melting!!!!!!!!!!!!111

holy shit-- the broncos are going after Dre Bly.

Champ Bailey and Dre Bly in their secondary, with John Lynch, is going to be lethal.

Thank you, Stuart! Latest talk is that David Robinson is over the hill. But in my book, you gotta get to Whitecastle before the weirdos show up! Tonight at the Alamodome, he gets Happy-Go-Jackie on the big white guy like a donkey eating a waffle! Sweet Sassy Molassey! Get out the checkbook and pay grandma for the rubdown as the Spurs beat the Heat, 86-79! Stuart!

"790 the Sports Animal just reported the Texans will cut WR Eric Moulds"

wtf :\

He said they want to go with youth :lol

Gm says for salary cut reasons.

Texans number # 2 WR is KEVIN WALTER now....

I hate my team.

I saw this coming. They were not exactly impressed with Moulds last year plus they are trying to clear cap space. Johnson was still getting double-teamed last season. So I guess they have their eyes on another free agent for this year.

I have this feeling he's going back to the Bills...

but this isn't that bad for houston. they are definitely gonna get someone better suited for them in the draft

Around the horn just said the steelers bought over $150k worth of HGH from an online steroids pharmacy that was busted in a raid by the FBI.

I mean he didnt have the best year,1 td catch 500 something yards, but some of that had to do with our soon to be gone QB Carr.

I'm sure they have their eyes on someone, but its still scary what our team looks like right now.

The draft needs to get here now,we have soooo many holes that need to be filled via draft/free agency.

I wonder if Mathis is going to get a shot at WR now.

The steroids were for the Bengals. They sure as hell won't win a ring on natural ability alone.

Regardless, the HGH was bought in 2006. So all they helped the Steelers to was a 8-8 season.

If the Steelers were cheating they need to do a better job of it.

P.S. Don't trust Bengals fans.

Texans have Cut Eric Moulds. That lasted long...

Your still welcome in Philly Eric!*

The story so far:

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07059/765645-66.stm

Anyway, if this guy bought stuff for players, then he sucks. One, for being stupid enough to use a personal credit card. And two, for obviously being duped into buying placebos because the Steelers season was crap. The Steeler Oline could have used some massive injections last year.

Anyway, even with bad HGH, Steelers were good enough to end the Bengals' season on their home turf yet again.

Good news, Del Rio came on the radio a couple hours ago and said that we should be seeing a Fred Taylor extension in the next day or so. Taylor, MJD and Greg Jones coming back. Now that's a damn backfield!
