holy shit u scared me for a minute there :lol

joey porter is getting cut? i wonder if he could upgrade our run defense.

:lol And I was like MINE MINE MINE MINE.

The all-cut team brought to you by the Wellster:

QBs: Bledsoe, Garcia (not really cut), Brad Johnson
RBs: Jamal Lewis, Derrick Blaylock
WRs: Joe Horn, Brandon Stokely, Eric Moulds
TEs: Ernie Conwell, Christian Fauria, Jermaine Wiggins
OL: Luke Petitgout, Leonard Davis (was he cut or just told to seek a new contract?), Ross Verba, Adam Timmerman... I need a Center.
DL: Seth Payne, Bobby Hamilton, Hmmmm need another DE to go 3-4
LB: Dexter Coakley, Joey Porter, Brian Simmons, LaVar Arrington
CB: Fred Smoot
S: None yet

That's a solid team even without a secondary. the offense alone is pretty potent. Horn, Moulds, Stokely with Bledoe throwing to them? That Oline isn't even half bad, and the LB corps is sicktacular.

That's what I think this trade comes down to. As long as George Foster is a solid tackle I will be extremely happy with this trade.

The o line was what kept us from going 8-8 at least last year. All the games we lost, with the exeption of the Bears, was by 10 points or less. I blame our shitty o line for that because we all saw how many turnovers Kitna had under pressure.

I'm hoping Joe Thomas can have the same immediate effect on our o line like D'Brickashaw had with the Jets last year.

EDIT: And like you said Bly wasn't exactly the best fit for the Tampa 2 defense.

not to burst your alls bubble, but i really think millen was in the mindset of "were getting rid of this guy so will take what we can get" At least i hope so.

Tatum Bell wasnt gonna start for us this season, he is soft, inconsistent, wears down towards the end of the season and is injury prone, the latter two shannahan wont tolerate. No offense but since TD back in the day every back in this system has pretty much performed better then Tatum has. However he is explosive and in a change of pace role hes one of the best. He can take it to the house anywhere but just dont ask him to get short yardage. If you even so muh as breathe to hard and tap him hes likelly to go down, his break-tackle ability is pretty much non-exsistent

As for George Foster the only reason he started last season was because of injuries(mind you our o-line was already not looking to good) so it says something when Foster couldnt even win a starting spot. He was constantlly getting man-handeled by even middle of the line ends all season. For all purposes so far Foster has been another Denver first round bust. He was one of our biggest sources of frustration last season.

The near consensus was that the Broncos would probably cut Foster and Tatum would go back to the change of pace back, which he excelled at unless a trade like this happened.

Steelers to cut Joey Porter...

Come to San Fran friend!!! We'll find some place for you!

Porter had pretty much made it known he would have held out. He only stuck around last year because Cowher talked him into it. Now the Steelers don't have to pay him all those bonuses that are due him and then have him say, "Screw you, I'm not playing." Guy was great at times, but was borderline invisible last year. And, his barking and nonsense were always good for 15 or even ejections before games. Thanks for the trophy Joey, have a good one. Tomlin's not ****ing around.

Experts at building the perception of running back value, to be precise. Hey, NFL teams! Don't trade for a Broncos running back unless you get their offensive line thrown in for free!

Michael Turner for a #1 pick? If I'm Jerry Reese I have to think long and hard about that, especially with the way the Jints need quality DE/LBs. Now with this Shuan O'Hara nonsense they BETTER sign him.

Turner is tendered at the first AND third round pick. Nobody's going to do that.

NINERS TO CHASE CLEMENTS

Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports that the 49ers are very interested in Bills cornerback Nate Clements, and that the Niners are prepared to make him an offer soon after 12:01 a.m EST Friday.

Clements was franchised by the Bills in 2006. As part of his agreement to sign the one-year tender, the team promised not to slap the tag on him again in 2007.

The Browns are believed to be poised to make a quick run at Clements, too

This is shaping out to possibly be an awesome off-season for all the 9ers fans this year

TAKEO ON THE BLOCK

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Buffalo Bills are willing to trade linebacker Takeo Spikes.

Spikes, signed by the Bills from Cincy in 2003, missed most of 2005 with a torn Achilles' tendon and was generally ineffective in 2006.

Spikes is signed through 2008. He is scheduled to earn a salary of $4.5 million ins 2007, and a salary of $5 million in 2008.

Too bad the eagles wont even look at him...

EAGLES WON'T BE ACTIVE EARLY

To all of the folks in Philly who are F5ing like crazy, don't expect to see any news tonight of one or more big-money signings.

Per a league source, the Eagles don't intend to be active in the first phase of free agency.

It makes sense. The notoriously conservative Philly front office will not want to be setting the standard for future deals. Instead, they're likely to take a wait-and-see approach, and then to possibly make a couple of needs-based acquisitions of lower-tier players.

A Huge "No Shit Sherlock" Post for me...

sorry, Whiner fans, but Clements is going to DC to get some of that Snyder money.

we will offer in the same neighborhood. so then it comes down to either playing for a franchise on a downward spiral to bottomfeeders, or a franchise that is skyrocketing towards a 6th superbowl trophy. you decide which is which!

p.s. also we are apparently going after drew bennett and donte stallworth as well. and antonio bryant was cut

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released offensive tackle Kenyatta Walker Thursday. Walker, who signed a five-year contract with the Bucs last offseason, was due a $1.5 million roster bonus on Mar. 2, which the team now avoids paying him while creating approximately $2.7 million in cap room.

"ROBINSON WEIGHS IN
Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson said Wednesday night that he believes it is time for quarterback David Carr to be traded.
"It's just my opinion, but I think it's that time," Robinson said. "We haven't won. I'm not saying it's David's fault, and I'm not saying he can't be a great quarterback with another team. But he's been here for five years, and the best we've been able to do is 7-9. I just think it's time for us to make some moves that'll help the Texans become a winning team."

Carr is gone,Robinson is the only one who will actually say what everyones feeling and thinking on the team.

i don't know why jgar is getting married. yeah his gf is a delicious piece of vagina pie, but he can pretty much have any woman he wants whenever he wants it.

p.s. kenyata walker cut!? no!!!! i need him to be around next time we face the bucs!

Jason Whittle to the Bills. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...........

Just heard on ESPN Radio that the Broncos are trading Jake Plummer to the Bucs for some draft picks. Could be announced as early as today.

You can't be serious... oh **** no, oh **** NO! :( I like Jake the Snake but giving up draft picks is a BAD IDEA especially considering his choking and the fact we've just re-signed Chris. Makes absolutely 0 sense... Jake won't be content on the bench.

For the Cards fans, look for Anquan to get some time in at QB this year on trick plays. He's got an absolute cannon so it should be fun to see what Whisenhunt does with him.

the difference: In SF, he will get that money and actually be expected to play. As we have proven with Deion Sanders, Dana Stubblefield, Jeremiah Trotter, Brandon Lloyd, ect...in Washington you can get the money and you dont' have to do SHIT! Where would you go?

The Post/Express also seems to think Smoot is on his way back to Washington. Smoot AND Clements? The only way I could see that happening is if they deal off Carlos Rogers (which would be ****ing fantastic actually) or Shawn Springs (which I guess has an outside shot considering he's so injury prone). Still concerned that there's no announcement about Dockery being re-signed. Come on Danny, get to work! It's been nearly 12 hours already!

Mike Sellers, Randy Thomas and Vernon Fox all given contract extensions. Could it be? A Redskins offseason with no major talent departures or arrivals?

Smoot? The guy that couldn't cut it as a nickel corner on the 32nd ranked pass d in the league?

He did well in our system so I don't see the harm in bringing him back. We don't need a superstar, we just need someone decent. With a hopefully improved pass rush he'll be more than serviceable.

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Clements is a Niner beeeotches!

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, free agent Nate Clements has been signed or will soon sign with the San Francisco 49ers. The report comes from Thomas Sorrell, a writer for RealFootball365.

Email from Geoff Hobson:
Clements is gone to san fran for $23 M to sign - a deal the Bengals could have done if they cut the few guys who do play defense.

Adalius is in Santa Clara as we speak!

Have you seen Carlos Rogers play? At least while watching Smoot I could entertian myself by yelling "SMOOOOOOOOT" :lol

After Adalius, Clements, Leonard Davis, and a WR, we should chill out a bit. The latter two shouldn't be that much of a cap hit, though.

Wow, the Niners aren't ****ing around. NFC West will look a LOT different this year. Arizona, St. Louis are trending upwards too. Poor Seattle, they're about to go down for another dozen-year playoff drought.

This is really strange watching the 49ers slowly grow from Team Bay Area B to a team with actual potential. Guys like Clements wouldn't have gone to the 9ers 2-3 years ago. No way in hell.

Whatever Hawks are going to be a strong team this year.

WIDE RECEIVER
Donté Stallworth is a free agent who is expected to draw a lot of interest. He won't be back with the Eagles.
So the team turns to Reggie Brown to be more of a lead receiver throughout the season, and the Eagles think he is ready for that responsibility. Second-year men Hank Baskett and Jason Avant will have a chance for more playing time, along with veteran Greg Lewis. Youngsters Jeremy Bloom and Bill Sampy and Michael Gasperson puke are next in line for competition.

Do the Eagles need another receiver? Can they replace Stallworth's speed? Do they feel they need to go out and get somebody to stretch defenses?

Well, the Eagles have said they would have been OK at wide receiver had they not traded for Stallworth last year. Maybe they feel that way again. Then again, maybe they have a plan to put in place between now and the end of the draft. Stay tuned.

as per dave spadaro....the eagles writer from their own site so this is pretty much coming from the FO itself...

makes me sick.

so if we are OK at WR at the beginning of last season even without trading for Stallworth then why did we give up the draft pick and trade for him? we could have used that pick on valuable WRs that never get to play like Bill Sampy and Michael Gasperson

WTF this makes no sense. the logic here baffles me. their FO knows how good McNabb can be with good WRs and a combo of Reggie Brown and Stallworth (who is young) could have been great for a while especially considering he is not like TO and is a team guy.

i would be ok if we were saving money to go after some LBs or for depth in 2ndary, since Hood and Lewis wont be coming back (even though i dont care about Lewis leaving), and dawkins is gettin up there in age. not only is our D going to be horrible but now our offense is going to be one weapon less.

The Front office is confident that Reggie Brown can be the #1 this year, and thats what they are gonna bank on. They are pretty confident in Hank and Jason as well, and they are pretty talented. Im looking at another good RB more than WR. We've proved we can be set with Reggie and Hank Baskett.

We'll see what happens. Im not exactly pleased at our soon to be free agent run. But im not dissapointed yet either

It's a crime he didn't get the first-and-a-third tender.

Realising their mistake, that a mere first-round tender wasn't enough to protect Josh Scobee, the Jaguars have signed him to a five-year deal. Huzzah!

The Patriots are reprotedly trying to cock-block on us with ADT. They will offer him less money but are trying to play the "you have a better chance of getting a ring here" card. Hopefully ADT is strong enough to resists the evil will of Dark Lord Brady and the Pats. He said he wanted to play some where warm, he said he wanted to get paid, and if he wanted to win he would've stayed in B-More who are a alot closer to winning than the pats are.

Come on ADT. You'll be a god among insects in the NFC.

Looks like Fletcher is about to sign with the Skins. I've seen it report a couple of places plus a friend of mine verified his presence at Redskins park and he was last seen walking with a trainer possibly to do a physical. Supposedly Smoot is there too,

well thing is i would agree, esp since stallworth missed some games and we did play fine without him, except now with mcnabb back in as the starter, i am pretty much know that reid will go back to pass pass pass offense. this means we dont really need another rb. if thats all we are going to do offensively both buck and westbrook serve as well and thats why we need another #1 WR. i have tons of confidence in brown but i dont want to bank everything on him.

besides i still would not care if i knew the eagles would address the defense. jim johnsons schemes and all blitz style play is not getting the same results as it used to. we always used to have a mediocre to average run D, but since we applied so much pressure on the QB and were able to secure a lead it did not really matter. but everyone else is either figured out the schemes or our talent pool has depleted tons. our starting 2ndary is solid but behind that we have considine (he is too small and not a starter) and now hood is gone. we need tons of depth and someone to groom to replace dawkins cause he is gone in 2 yrs.

then our LBs...omg do our LBs suck. i would be ecstatic to hear that the eagles were even trying to pursue a. thomas or hell even porter. lord knows we need some fire in this grp as even our best LB...trotter is declining fast. we better not have dhani jones, mccoy, and trotter as our LBs again. quite possibly the worst LB corps in the league. but again the eagles dont care cause LB is not a need position ever for them. so what is a need position?

like every single off season our D line seems to be a need position. mcdougle is another first round bust. they should let reid's kids take shots at mcdougle and finish the job. patterson just got that huge deal although he is nothing amazing. we still get run on all the time. kearse is almost always injured, and howard had a hot start but fizzled rather quick. forget stopping the run, outside of trent cole we were no longer getting any pressure on the QB. watch the eagles draft another d lineman with a high pick and watch still suck at stopping the run cause its always the same philosophy...draft/sign speed bullets who get pushed around and blocked easy in the run game.

our D is in serious trouble and the eagles are prolly not going to do anything till around training camp where they sign some vet who gets released.

NFL Network has Adam Schefter reporting that Jake The Snake Plummer is retiring. A deal had been worked out between Broncos and BUcs and Plummer opted to retire rather than play for the Bucs :lol

only time you'll be seeing him back up McNabb now is if it's on a golf course and McNabb pukes at the thought of how important it is to get it through the clowns mouth.

:lol Holy shit that's hilarious. He probably wasn't guaranteed a starting job over Chris and like I said oh 30 posts or so ago, he "wouldn't be content on the bench." Too funny -- certainly works out well for us IMO!
