Giants contacted Joey Porter's agent, according to a couple people.

I would rather Giants sign Cato June and draft a LB (Poz!), but Porter would be OK as long as the deal is heavily backloaded (won't see it all).

No, Porter would NOT be okay. Reese is already on my shit list for the last couple of drafts (Little known Giants fact: Other than the Eli Manning pick, Reese has been making almost of our draft day selections the passed few years) and if we sign yet ANOTHER declining ex-Steeler (Emmons, Brent Alexander, Kranchick) I will definitely be upset.

Joey Mother ****ing Porter:

Code:
Year Team G Total Tkl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def
2003 Pittsburgh Steelers 14 65 50.0 15 5 0 0 0.0 0 0 4
2004 Pittsburgh Steelers 15 53 36.0 17 7 1 3 3.0 3 0 11
2005 Pittsburgh Steelers 16 56 39.0 17 10.5 2 9 4.5 9 0 5
2006 Pittsburgh Steelers 14 55 40.0 15 7 2 49 24.5 42 1 3

I don't care about the sacks, it's a misleading stat as he lines up on the outside in a 3-4, but look at those ****ing tackle numbers!!! This guy has got more ****ing mouth than he has game, we might as well try and ****ing bring back LaVar Arrington. Jerry Reese would be a Grade A certified ****ing MORON if he signs Joey Porter to anything more than a 2 year deal. He does NOT have the speed we want, he's NOT a great defender, and he's going to be more trouble in the locker room.

Couple of things:

Tampa Bay's recipe for success? Stockpile old and busted QBs. It worked with Brad Johnson! Garcia now a buck!

Okay, it's time to take the Niners really really seriously. You know what's going to happen now with them? They'll chill until the draft, have another solid set of picks, and continue maturing that nucleus of ridiculous young talent. Though they still need a #1 receiver IMO, I really like the pairing of Ashley Lelie and a coach like Mike Nolan.

Jags fans, I think the Northcutt signing is good. Who has been his QB the last few years? Yeah. Nobody.

The Bucs need a new motor on the Dline, a new "Sapp" (well, old Sapp, not new Sapp). I take it there's no one in the draft like that for this year or next, is there?

Man, I wish I had more time to particpate in NFL threads. Having Garcia would make for some great comedy this year. :( I feel like I'm slipping outside of the Triforce (the ORIGINAL Triforce, mind you :P).

holt, bruce, bennett, ginn and looker

best WR corp ever?

PLease Dont even go there. Sure, Holt will be there. Ill even give Issac Bruce the benefit of the doubt that he is still young enough to get it done.

By Ginn, you mean Drew Bennett right? Pretty good, should fit in well.

Then you said Looker. Dane Looker? :lol All of his 0 catches last year justify that comment.

But taking him out, still, its not the best WR corp ever. Not even the best current WR Corp. Arizona blows the Rams the **** out of the water

dane looker is a #3 reciever at least on any other team. hes vastly underrated. theres a reason he had 0 catches last year, and it just proves my point.

and i like boldin and fitzgerald too, but lets see them keep it up for 10 years like ike and torry have. and who else do they have? bryant johnson lol, no thanks.

you do realize Bryant Johnson got 750 yards and 4 Td's and a 3rd reciever last season, right?

Comparing: Kevin Curtis had 480 yards, 4 TD's

and Dane Looker was on another team. the patriots, for 2 years. 0 catches both years

but that 2005 season was real promising! all 237 of those yards! and the year before as well! man 183 yards. But what an awesome #3 option!

Please Stop. Atleast do your homework before including someone like Dane Looker anywhere in "best WR Core ever". Please.

Just for the hell of it, "hell no" Bryant Johnson had a better season then Drew Bennett as well :lol

KC had a down year, but hes a playmaker and put up big stats everytime he started. the emergence of SJAX as a dual threat diminished the WR touches to everyone this year.

dane looker was excellent in 2003 as the #3, and has been excellent every time hes been called into action. hes ricky proehl 2.0, every team can use someone like that.

BJ had a pretty good year last year, but hes sucked every year prior. i dont trust him, hes dropped a shitload of passes just in the rams/cards games over the years.

Kevin Curtis wont be back folks. its gonna be holt, bruce, bennet, Looker(:lol :lol :lol )

It just puts the rams back into the catagory of Awesome WR cores lke Indy, Arizona, ect...

just second to the '99 rams :)

i dunno. sucked might be a bad word, when they are simular numbers to what Mr awesome Dane Looker put up 4 years ago. Why dont you say he sucks, then?

because looker was a sure-handed 3rd down specialist. bryant johnson is a 1st round bust

Ahh... There it is. WAS. He WAS 4 years ago. Bryant Johnson IS is pretty damn productive #3 Reciever at this point, regardless of when he was drafted

Looker hasnt done shit in 4 years yet he is part of the greatest WR Core ever. Yeah, ok...

I have to say it's a little unsettling as a Seahawk fan to see the Raiders making strides to get better and us do nothing. So far the only thing I've seen was us rumored to go after a TE whose name is escaping me right now. Definitely a spot we could use an upgrade cause Stevens the Rapist has been pretty meh and is a headcase with the fans booing him.

Ah, but who's going to be his QB now? (Still no word from Leftwich on his plans for the season, though I suppose no news is good news...)

Two things wrong with this. When one of the two starters went down (forget which one) it was Bryant Johnson that stepped in as a starter. In fact, Johnson started 8 games. It's completely comparing apples and oranges when talking about Dane Looker, a #5 receiver last year.

Also, do you guys realize that the #1 receiver for Leinart in practice was BJ before Leinart became a starter? Builds comfort between the two doesn't it?

The hawks went after the OG from San Diego. Apparently he came up to Seattle saw the weather and said **** this get me back to SD! :lol He was their biggest want and we couldn't sign him. Damn.

welcome ashley lelie! awesome signing. i feel like he will be a great addition and i would have been cool with us surrendering a 3rd rounder last year to denver for him. now we get him for free!

up next:

donte stallworth
joey porter

did Lelie suck ass in Denver and suck ass in Atlanta? What would make you think he would be a great receiver? Might as well sign Todd Pinkston.

Lelie had a great year in 2004, a good year in 2005, didn't do much last year but then again he had a running back throwing him the ball all year.

He is at very least on the same level as Antonio Bryant, but he is MUCH faster and has a better attitude. But he won't do it alone as I'm pretty sure we're going to add either Ginn, Meachem, Bowe, C.Davis, Jarrett, Hill or Steve Smith 2.0 in the draft.

The Saints and Ken Hamlin are meeting today, I think. ****, I want the Panthers to sign Hamlin, but we don't have the cap room to give him what he probably wants. Blah.

Tamanon said:
Panthers can always resign Deon Grant:P

I actually wouldn't mind that...anything would be an upgrade over Shaun Williams. I actually wanted LaRon Landry in the draft, but he's probably vaulted himself into the top 10 with his amazing combine workout.

Where you reading that? I mean, I believe you, but I want to read more about it.

Also, methodman, don't get too hyped up about Michael Lewis. ;)
Yeah, he was a backup this past season.

Too bad I wasn't around for the Plummer gives FU to Tampa.

:lol :lol :lol :lol at Cowboys
Leonard Davis signed at gigantic numbers, for him at least.

Michael (not David) Smith at ESPN.com has confirmed that the deal is seven years, $49.6 million, with $24 million over the first three years and $18.75 million guaranteed. My goodness.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jake Plummer has announced his retirement on his foundation’s website. The Buccaneers sent a 2008 draft pick to the Broncos in exchange for Plummer’s rights. Tampa Bay owns the 32-year-old quarterback’s rights through the 2009 season.

You better run! Its JGar and Champ's team now!

Any longhorn on the Cowboys will make the team better

I hope the Giants or Broncos are dumb enough to give the Bills at least a second round pick for Willis Mcgahee. *Keeps fingers crossed.*

soulja224466 said:
you'd rather have a second rounder than mcgahee?

Yeah, the Bills front office isn't going to sign him to an extension, so he's as good as gone next season. Rather have something than nothing.

Mcgahee lacks heart, he's never going to be the back he could be because he doesn't care enough about the game. I've questioned his stamina and offseason training time and time again.

The Bills had a terrible redzone offseason the past two seasons partly because of Mcgahee. We would have a good drive going and get inside the twenty, and Mcgahee is on the sidelines being spelled because he's spent.

All you need to watch is the last Bills/Jets game to get an idea about where I'm coming from. Mcgahee has the longest TD run of his career and he comes off the field throwing up. He was probably partying with Wilma, I mean Vilma, the night before. There's a reason his best games come against the Jets. :D

I would take your back over Mcgahee any day of the week.

did Lelie suck ass in Denver and suck ass in Atlanta? What would make you think he would be a great receiver? Might as well sign Todd Pinkston.

lelie was decent in denver and his QB in atlanta was mike vick. had a pretty good season in 2004 so the potential is there. the thing is we aren't expecting him to come in and be the next jerry rice. he is following in the footsteps of our last 2 #1 receivers who both had 750 or so yards to lead our team (lloyd in 2005, bryant in 2006). it's not much to live up to and i think lelie will give us a deep threat we haven't had in the past. only thing that concerns me about lelie is that he doesn't really go over the middle from what i've seen.

"A league source indicated that an early suitor for wide receiver Antonio Bryant could be the Texans, who cut wideout Eric Moulds last week and are seeking a No. 2 option to pair with Andre Johnson.

Bryant, signed by the 49ers last March, led the team in receiving yards (733) in 2006, but was released on Thursday. "

Ugh :|

antonio bryant is an ok receiver. problems are as follows:

1. he is going to miss the first 2 games of the 07 season because of his DUI suspension by the nfl
2. he throws a temper tantrum every couple games.
3. he quits on plays and will not fight for the ball. i would estimate 4-8 of alex smiths 16 interceptions were a result of bryant not breaking the play up or going for the ball

good signing by the texans if it happens... i guess

Well, to be fair, Joey's better than Carlos "Richard" Emmons, Burnt Alexander, and Kransuck (He never even played in a regular season Steeler game.) But, Joey's probably not as useful as Plexiglass. He did do a lot of dropping into coverage, like he did in the SB. But, I do beleive his pass rushing skills have diminished. And many of his sacks come on scheme and not because he beat anybody one on one.

I don't think the Steelers wanted to keep dropping money on him with the possibility of him holding out or to give him a new contract like they did with Gildon and then get suckered by the weight against cap for a useless player, which is what happened with Gildon. I think Joey can provide some help for a season or two, but not at all worth the price he's asking. Nor will he be worth what somebody eventually pays him just because he's a popular name.

Yea all the above is what I'm worried about FMT.

Texans sign Green,we have a running back :o

311xInlineGallery.jpg

The Texans have reached an agreement with their first free agent Green Bay running back Ahman Green.

Green, 30, is signing a four-year contract worth $23 million, including $6.5 million in guarantees.

Green has been one of the most productive running backs in the NFL for the past seven years.

The former Nebraska running back enjoyed his five best seasons (2000-2004) when Mike Sherman was the Packers head coach. During that period, he never rushed for fewer than 1,163 yards. His best season was 2003 when he rushed for 1,883 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

Green immediately becomes the starter, from a group that includes Wali Lundy, Chris Taylor and Samkon Gado.

The Texans are trying to resign Ron Dayne.

Green, a No. 1 pick by Seattle in 1998, is a ten-year veteran, who rushed for 1,059 yards and scored six touchdowns last season.

"We're excited to get this deal done because Ahman's been a successful running back in this league for a long time," general manager Rick Smith said. "We're going to hitch our wagon to him.

"We're not worried about his age because he takes great care of himself and is in great condition. One of the many things we like about him is his versaility. Not only can he run the ball, but he's an excellent receiver, too. We think he's an ideal fit for our system."

The Texans have set up visits with three more unrestricted free agents for this week: linebacker Danny Clark, defensive tackle James Reed and quarterback Patrick Ramsay.

i would take joey porter in a ****ing heartbeat. first off because we are really going all-out with the 3-4 defense this year (since we have money to sign depth and we won't have to revert back to the 4-3 midway through the season since we don't have any healthy LB's!), and joey porter is an experienced 3-4 player. but aside from that i think he is an emotional guy who can get people fired up and bring a swagger to the defense. he will probably sign with dallas or san diego though :(

p.s. suck it down tom brady! go nate clements! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJh1sKZNpg

God no, not Dallas! He would look so retarded in Dallas colors. Personally, I'd kinda like to see him go to the Jets so he can get the war against the Pats to be even more personal. Actually, I think it would be funny if he landed on an AFC North rival. Would be funny to see if he would trash talk against the Steelers the week before a game.

FMT, are the 49ers going to use Clements on special teams, specifically punt returns? He's pretty good, but tends to carry the ball "loosely" if you know what I mean.
