I remember when a team's season was on the shoulders of a young QB coming off a team's successful but bittersweet season...

The Bears traded Jones to move from the #63 pick to the #37 pick. They must have someone they want to draft in mind. It won't seem that bad if they get a good pick out of it. Which is totally possible at that position.

Now that I think about it, didn't Rosevelt Colvin play alongside Urlacher? Briggs filled in just fine and i'm sure some other young kid can do the same.

You know, Briggs needs to keep his mouth shut and stop being a little whiny biatch.

He complains about getting NO REPSECT, but the Bears are going to pay him 7.2 million dollars by franchising him, which would make him the highest played player on the team. Whatever, he can go leave like Roosevelt Colvin and see how many Pro Bowls he gets when he isn't playing beside Urlacher. Hopefully he gets over it soon and realize his staying Chicago is the best thing for him!

It always happens (Colvin, Warrick Holdman, now Briggs). I'm not sure whether it's the players we've grabbed or the system, but 3 pro-bowlers in a row at that position? That's more than luck. Jamar Williams, rookie OLB we drafted was hurt pretty much all last year. I doubt he can replace Briggs completely, but I'll giving the Bears the benefit of the doubt here given their record with OLB's.

Oh and it's sad to see Thomas Jones go. :(

BUT

This means Adrian Peterson gets more carries now, with a Benson-Peterson combo, i'm not sure we're going to miss any production at the RB spot.

I am still pissed that we let him go, how's that?

Luke is probably a top 5 or 6 LT in the game, behind Ogden, Pace, Jones, Roaf (who is gone). When he played for us, Tiki had his best games running left behind him and Dave Diehl on the left. He is an exceptional run blocking tackle, absolutely exceptional. He's almost as good against the pass as well. I can't ever recall thinking that he whiffed on a block or that he almost got Eli killed. The only thing is he has the back problem, now the broken leg he is rehabbing, and of course, he had two seasons ago that penchant for false start penalties. He drastically reduced them last year but it should still be in the back of your mind.

Bottomline is that it was a ****ing HUGE mistake for us to let him go, IMO. He is fantastic against speed rushers and pretty good against power guys(handled Freeney with ease, as well as Simeon Rice and Mike Rucker). He will have trouble when his back is acting up though.

I look forward, very much so, to Osi Umenyiora matching up against him. Should be a lot of fun... :D

Kevin Curtis as a Giant would make me :D :D :D

Thanks for the review. How well do you think he'd do at the guard position? We're looking for someone to fill Dockery's spot. Damn it feels good being on the other end of the stick. (being the team that let an average player go to a team that vastly overpays)

Benson better get some field vision this offseason...Jerome Bettis did more cut moves.

Trading Thomas Jones just to move up in the second round? Really....well that certainly doesn't seem smart for Chicago. It's absolutely outstanding for the Jets though.

Jets got a darn good deal in that trade.

Wellington,

Luke isn't/wasn't a top five or six LT.

There's plenty of better ones. Kareem McKenzie is probably a top five RT, though.

UGH the Dolphins released McMichael. I liked him. What's next? We snag Jake the Snake from Tampa?

I hope the Panthers make a play for McMichael. We haven't had a legit tight end since Wesley Walls.

Would love it too, but 1)He will likely be out of our price range, and 2) he has a history of domestic violence accusations which doesn't mesh with our organization's standpoint as of late.

what if its due to roid rage though? Then it would mesh perfectly with your organizations standpoint.

Wow, they'll definitely regret that. I hope the Bucs make a play at him.. McMichael and Alex Smith would be a deadly combo at TE. My girlfriend is gonna be bummed about Welker.. she's been a big fan of his these past two seasons.

The last incident I heard about with him concerning that was over two years ago so hopefully it's in the past. Other than that, I'd risk it.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former Miami Dolphins defensive end Kevin Carter Monday. Terms of the deal weren't immediatley available. Carter, 33, has notched 97.5 career sacks, including 11.5 quarterback takedowns as a Dolphin. The Bucs could be interested in playing Carter at defensive tackle.

Rebuilding the defense with more 30+ guys! Yes!

lol jaime dukes talked a bunch of crap about us on nfl network. he said nate clements is the 16th best CB in the nfl :lol get the **** out of here jaime dukes you yeast infected vag

Those were the days before the Dark Lord decided to try and take him out.

I hope the Messiah knows that prayers and vitamins are his only hope against Brady's evil.

I don't mind the Jones trade, to be honest. He was gone after next season anyway, and Benson showed he can handle being the featured back.
I will miss Jones though, he was a good guy while he was here.

Briggs being a bitch kind of upsets me. We tried to give you an extension last year, jerk =(

e: Briggs wants 9 years/$64 million....Urlacher's deal was 9/56.5 :lol
I like you Lance, but you're not better than Urlacher. Looks like it's time for you to join the ranks of Rosevelt Colvin and Warrick Holdman

WTF? Patriots are interested in Randy Moss? I demand the NFL stop the pats! :(
They say that, but I doubt they'll give what is being asked. No one wants to give up a first round pick and buy out that contract, but NE is especially stingy when it comes to WR. Jacksonville, maybe? Or maybe the Bengals are gonna run a 7 receiver set!

banta-cain (TBC!) is rumored to have signed with the niners. waiting for confirmation from the major networks/news sites until we know for sure. but if he did i feel it is a good pickup. there is also a rumor we are going after a "top LB" via draft day trade. the only LB that fits the bill is suggs from baltimore who's contract is coming up soon, but i doubt they'd trade him. we'll see!

Alright, then name five guys better than Luke.

Sonny: Nope, he is only good at LT. He stunk it up anywhere else on the line, even RT.

I think Luke would be OK at LG. His biggest concern is penalties (big concern for any position on the line).

As for the LT's:

Matt Light, Tarik Glenn, Levi Jones, Jon Ogden, Marcus McNeill, Chris Samuels, Flozell Adams, Williams Thomas, Jamaal Brown, Walter Jones and Orlando Pace.

Probably one or two on there are iffy like Adams and Thomas, but they're all very close.

It's moot now. He's gone. I rather move on.

So I heard an eye-opening rumor today that there was talk of a trade between Washington and New York--Strahan for one of the Skins RBs. Discuss.

No way, never going to happen.

I think they will pursue Dillon.

http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/32302.html
''Porter came away from the meeting very impressed with the direction they are taking the team,'' agent Jeff Sperbeck, Porter's agent, said Monday. ``Joey would be a great addition to the Dolphins.''

He would solve all our offensive problems!
I say, sign him anyways. I'd love to have him.

I Doubt the Giants go after Dillon. Brandon Jacobs is already their big back bruiser and punisher. Tatum/Willis would be much better fits for them

Is this a good pick up?

ESPN.com's John Clayton has the news: The Seahawks have agreed to terms with Falcons DE Patrick Kerney on a six-year contract. More to come. John is reporting that this is a $39.5 million deal with about $19.5 million in guarantees.

the definitive kwame harris highlight package.

seriously what a piece of shit. why does nolan put up with shit like this at RT? i'm surprised alex isn't dead yet.

Damn bro.. I posted that Video like 2-3 pages ago. Its a classic, though. I never watched a video that made me so sad yet made me laugh so hard at the same time. The "keep holding on" music while they're showing all his bone head holding penalities was especially genius.

Speaking of which:

http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/default.asp?item=515325

The 49ers may look to trade right guard Justin Smiley and/or offensive tackle Kwame Harris this offseason.

Adam Snyder is expected to become a starter after getting a big contract in 2006. Smiley is entering a contract year. Harris has been a bust.

We definitely need to get rid of Harris. I like Smiley but a lot of teams seem to prepared to over compensate us for him, so I wouldn't be against trading him if the price was right.

What I wouldn't give for training camps to begin opening up tommorow.. 5 more months..:(
