I guess Len Pasquarelli was on ESPN Radio chastising the Lions for not having anyone at Brady Quinn's workout.

The Lions had 7 people there. And their beat writer. :lol

Good, get that ****er out of Oakland. Sick of his emo bullshit.

Is this a good pick up?

Yeah I saw this on RSS just now. But I have no idea how to feel about it.

And apparently we're after Ben Watson. I'm all for finding a replacement for the Rapist. Go go front office!

Dolphins had a sweet team last year, too. Their coach was just in over his head and didn't know what to do with it all. I mean, you can't tell me that if you put Bill Parcells in front of the Dolphins now that they don't become a superbowl team within 2 seasons, with all the talent they've got.

Anyways, it kinda sucks for the Jets cuz that trade (WTF WAS CHICAGO THINKING, EMINEM?!) makes them sweet, but with the shit that the Patriots have been doing this off-season it won't make a difference in the regular season.

Saban really ****ed over the Dolphins. They aren't exactly a young team(especially on defense) and they wasted two good years under Saban. Now the new regime is stuck with a gimpy LOLpepper, who they obviously don't want. Problem is they can't cut it or trade him at this point because of the astronimical cap penalty hit they would take. They also really can't draft QB like Quinn who could come in and play hell because it would be too much money wrapped on in a position where only one man plays.

We still have $$ to throw around. We need to shore up run D and get something of a pass rush.

The Jets were closing in on a deal last night with former Cowboys DE Kenyon Coleman. His agent, Jordan Woy, said in an e-mail, "We are still talking, but it is looking very good."

DE David Bowens (Dolphins) also visited the Jets yesterday.

These guys any good? I wish we could pry back my man Ferguson from Dallas. I miss his grittiness and run-stuffing.

No way. Jets are taking back that division this year!

Jets had no talent last year and still put the fear of Ben into the Pats and this year they are going to finish what they started last year.

banta-cain is visiting the niners today. hopefully he never leaves san francisco :D

we need linebackers assholes!

after watching him for the last 4 years on the Pats, he's really not all that impressive. If he was I'm sure the Pats would work hard on signing him back, they need LB's. I remember a game in Foxboro I went to when he couldn't even take down DREW BLEDSOE for a sack.

He's Daunte LOLpepper right now because he doesn't have Randy Moss.

Trade for Moss, Mueller/Cameron! Bring back the 2004 Culpepper!

Linebacker Tully Banta-Cain and the 49ers are very close on a contract agreement. Banta-Cain, a former standout at Cal, visited with the 49ers on Monday. An announcement could come later in the day.
"We're working it out," said Jim Sims, Banta-Cain's Oakland-based agent.
Banta-Cain has played in the 3-4 defense with the Patriots his first four seasons in the league, starting five games last season. He recorded 5.5 sacks with 10 quarterback hurries and 40 tackles last season.
Banta-Cain has played on two Super Bowl winners. As a rookie, he saw action on special teams units in the Patriots' 32-29 victory over the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII. And the following year he played defense in pass-rush situations and special teams in a 24-21 win over the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX.
The Rams offered Banta-Cain a contract during a visit to St. Louis on the first day of free agency. He was scheduled to travel to visit with the Steelers later today.

:D :D :D :D

He would be an upgrade for us for sure. He is much younger than either Thomas or Porter and will come for ALOT cheaper. Last year was the first year that he got serious playing time and did well--it was his first full year starting. If we do get him I expect him to only improve from the teachings of Mike Singletary and our new DC Mike Manusky who shaped the Chargers' dominanty LB core.

I was about to post. Porter, Thomas, Crowder, and Taylor :D

Pretty sick defense brewing there. Shame their offense is being gutted! I hope Daunte can come back this year for the Dolphins' sake (and for my girlfriend, ergo my sex life's). I'm a bit disappointed the Jets got Jones as I was hoping for Leon that he'd get the bulk of the carries this year.

I hope we make some moves other than signing quarterbacks this offseason!

I don't know WTF the Texans were thinking. They could have given a 2nd round pick for Jones instead of signing Green. At this point, Thomas as alot more explosion at the line than Green and seemingly is more durable. First Flanagan at center was a disaster, then trading Morency for Gado was a disaster and now we get Green. WTF next, will we be getting Favre next season? Is Mike Sherman our GM as well as OC?

Tampa Bay has taken that role in Florida of getting too many quarterbacks. We are fine on defense...

Offense...yeah. I will always believe in a 2004 Culpepper return!

OMG! Just found out that one of my friends from high school is a carolina panther cheerleader. Her name is Erin.

Did you smash? Thats what we all want to know.

I guess we're not supposed to expect much in the way of big moves, Rorschach. The Raiders only have like 9-10 million in cap room. :-/

Niners just signed Tully Bunta-Cain from the Patriots. I think it's a great pickup, because Porter just got so much more money then what we were willing to pay. TBC is young (26), played in the 3-4 for a great defense (N-E), and is going to be our pass rushing OLB. Good pickup.

The niners went crazy this offseason, and every one of these guys will be starters:

Aubroyo Franklin NT (Baltimore)
Ashley Lelie WR (Atlanta)
Nate Clements CB (Buffalo)
Michael Lewis - SS (Philly)
Tully Bunta-Cain- OLB (New England)

In the draft, i'm hoping we somehow land Alan Branch, but Adam Carriker is also nice for the 11th pick. Hopefully we trade up into the 1st and land one of the falling WR's (Meacham, Bowe, Jarrett) whoever our front office thinks is better.

Naahh. But last time I saw her was in the summer of 04 at this club, and we were flirting/dancing a good bit. Wasn't in a rush, but soon after I met my eventual girlfriend and stopped going out for a damn long time and never seen her again.

:(

But WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Banta-Cain is ours!

Former New York Giants offensive tackle Luke Petitgout agreed to terms on a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday, according to NFL.com. Petitgout, who was released in February, has started 106 games since entering the NFL a a 1999 first-round draft pick out of Notre Dame.

Keep spending that money, Gruden! Woo!

WOOT! First we release Kenyatta and now we sign Petitgout -- the line is a million times better already! I'd really love it if we sign a big ticket defensive player though... it needs to be done, badly.

Those subtitles are killing me!

I never hear about the Jets on radio here since I'm in Bills country now. What else have they done?

Not much. Been kinda quiet, playing the background. Getting Jones is huge though since it's what we needed. Move like that makes Pennington automatically better. I'm hoping we can shore up our run D, hopefully get a pass rusher somehow, and if it's possible, get a nice, big target at WR. We did lock up Cotchery at least, which is awesome.

Grifter said:
Solidifying the front D would be ideal, but do you want someone to replace Lavernues?

Nah, I love Coles. Tough mofo. But still, I think we need someone big eventually. Could be a rookie, doesn't have to be a name. Brad Smith is pretty damn intriguing--I wonder how we're gonna use him next year, especially since he ain't gonna sneak up on anyone anymore.

I think we can still run some plays for him or as a decoy. :lol

Is he still on special teams? I forget which game, but he was covering kicks and punts and kept getting upfield first and nailed the tackles. Made it exciting to watch punts (besides the wild card Aussie).

The Frankman said:
Jones gets 12 million? Wow, and the Jets go from #37 to #63 in the draft. Is Thomas Jones REALLY worth that much?

We need a real RB and he's a "young" 28/29, so yeah. We didn't have any chance to move up in draft position; no packages to entice anyone in the top 10. He played his ass off in the playoffs too so he's money when it counts. Plus apparently he's great in the locker room and that'll be a nice fit as well.

Rotoworld says Kerney is a bit past his prime, but an improvement for us. Apparently now we might either dump Wistrom or play him in a reduced role.

TBC had 1 less sack than joey porter and he started 9 less games. it is a good pickup for us, i don't care what the patriots think. we need LB's and it is a good signing. welcome TBC!

Rumor is the Bills might be working on a trade for Michael Turner

Chiefs | Green allowed to contact other teams
Tue, 6 Mar 2007 13:39:12 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs said that while they continue to talk with QB Trent Green about restructuring his contract and remaining with the team, he will be allowed to "explore other potential opportunities in the National Football League" before making his final decision.

Joey Porter only feasts on running backs for his sacks. And if they're any good he gets lit up. He was absolutely stonewalled by MJD several times last year. Lit the fack up.

Too bad Miami has cat **** in their secondary. Their front seven is looking great.

John Clayton on ESPN saying Dolphins may try to acquire Chiefs' QB Trent Green.

Dolphins should also look for a WR or two.

EDIT:

Adam Schefter on NFL Network says Patriots sign WR Donte Stallworth.

I kinda wondered when Turner's name would pop up. It seemed pretty obvious last year that the guy was good enough to start, he just had the misfortune of being behind LDT. Hopefully the Chargers can get something good for him.

Time to give special teams some love! Random Niner and Steeler related news:

Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh signed 49ers punter Andy Lee, who is a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet Tuesday.

San Francisco has seven days to match the offer. If they choose not to match, they will receive the Steelers' 2007 sixth-round draft choice.

Lee averaged a career-best 44.8 yards per punt last season -- good for sixth in the NFC and seventh in the NFL.

C'mon, you gotta know by now giving up picks is a bad idea for the Texans. We just have too many holes. Kubiak and Rick Smith are doing a great job IMO.

So we would rather roll the dice with a pick and get a washed up back instead of getting a proven back that was just in the Super Bowl last year? We pass up on a player that was a big contributor to a Super Bowl team for a player whose best years are in the past? So in a year or two we are still looking for a real #1 RB.

We still don't have a QB, we still are getting other teams' unwanted players, we still have only have ONE playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. I am just frustrated as a season ticket holder that this team isn't really making any major moves to improve itself. Ron Dayne, Ahman Green, Jake Plummer, etc. How can any fan get excited about any of that?

Not if we unload. We need tackles since we didn't re-sign Slaughter and Walker. We need a QB since all we have is Walter. Sucks that Garcia went bux. What's he gonna do there? Wait for more Simms organ explosions?

PS: Hope Tuiasosopo is done...teams shouldn't be getting his hopes up by meeting with him. :lol
