I wouldnt mind if the Bucs traded down and took Lawrence.. and then Buster in the 2nd round. Sign them up long term and we're set at LB for the next half decade or so. :)

Yup. Chances we get him are slim to none. I can see the Rams, Panthers, Bengals and Steelers all drafting him. He's not getting past the Bungals, that's for sure. The Rams might go with Amobi Okoye, but even he might go lower with his combine performance.

So you think that Timmons will not fall past the Bengals and that Okoye is falling, both based on the combine?

You have that exactly backwards. Okoye showed up and performed well (running a 4.97 40, even), while Timmons's issues are well documented.

Really, I'd be surprised at this point if Timmons were taken before the Giants have a crack at him. FSU's pro day is on March 15th, so there's still an opportunity to help himself and make you a sad, sad man.

No, what I meant is that Okoye will move lower number wise and that I don't think we will get to Timmons because he is the premier LB in the draft and there are teams that pick before the Giants that have LB needs... the ones I named. I could see the Niners or Skins taking Okoye depending on what the Cards do.

Patrick Willis will be fine by me, since he has the speed to play OLB anyway.

Edit: Hey I never mentioned Timmons' combine performance anyway. Didn't even get to see him. I did see Willis and Poz though.

Timmons is still the best LB in the draft at 6'1" instead of 6'3". Doesn't change a thing -- he gets in the backfield and will be the next stud we put in the pros.

You sure they are still taking Peterson? They now have both Reuben Droughns and Jamal Lewis, which is a BEAST of a two headed running attack. The question is, if the Browns don't take him, who would? The next viable option to take an RB is Green Bay.

And look man, I don't care what happens, I just want Lawrence Timmons. THAT'S ALL! PLEASE!

Droughns is either getting traded or released in the next couple of day. He has a roster bonus over a mil. and we aren't going to pay it. Like I said the Lewis deal is only a year, and Droughns is already over 30. All signs point to Peterson being the pick. If Droughns and Lewis are a beast then Peterson and Lewis is just a monster. Also I have heard nothing about us trading the pick to Falcons. I could see us trading out of the pick if something great came along and taking Pittman in the second round if he's there. That would fill the need at RB. I just hope to god we don't take Brady Quinn.

As for Timmons that guy is beast. I hope he gets in some sort of gay porn scandal and he falls to the second round so the Browns can take him.

You know, that post of mine was meant to give you realistic hope, but it came across distinctly dick-ish. Sorry about that.

Best OLB for sure.

Mcgahee is a Raven.

Bills get 2007 3rd and 7th, and 2008 3rd.

Upgrade at RB complete... man I can't wait til the Ravens play the Browns this coming season...

There was a blurb in the local Atlanta paper about the Falcons "talking" to the Browns. I think Schaub, the 10th pick, and maybe one of our 4th round picks is a great deal. If the Browns absolutely want to pick up RB, Michael Bush may be around for the 10th pick. ;)

I'm not sold on Okoye. My opinion of him rose slightly with the added weight he showed at the combine, but not that much. If we do in fact go defensive line with the 11th pick I would prefer Branch, and would even come way happy with Carriker. Those two guys are ready to start and contribute now. With all the money we've spent on defense this offseason, I would rather not have a 20 year rookie, who in addition to adjusting the major change in game speed at the NFL level, will most likely have to learn a new position(to my knowledge hes never played NT in a 3-4, or DE in any system).

The prospect Okoye having to go up against bigger and stronger O-linemen, many of which have been in the league since he was 5 or 6 years old isn't a pleasent one. We're ready to compete now, we dont' need a guy who MAY be good in 2-3 years.

Unless Branch or Ginn are still on the board at 11 I would rather us trade down grab Carriker, Willis, Jarrett, or Meachem mid round.

I'm sure there are a lot of teams "talking" to the Browns about the pick. Bush has a steel plate in his leg right now I wouldn't touch that. I really don't think the Browns need a quarterback. I don't think theres enough value in that trade for the Browns to make it. If it was Schaub, switch the first, and your 2nd and 3rd I would say do it. It's totally lopsided but I don't want the Browns to trade the pick and pass on a running back who will be a stud for years and years

What about Byrd and Klopfenstein? Weren't those two guys first-day picks last year?

Byrd is coming along as reciever/blocker but Klopfenstein is our starter due to his better blocking. Neither guy can stretch the field like McMichael, so this move makes me happy.

We also signed Todd Johnson from Chicago, give me the skinny on this guy.

I just hope to god we don't take Brady Quinn.

My sentiments exactly. The Romeo-Weis connection has me worried but I'm not sure how much input Romeo has on the draft pick anyways. My guess is it's all Savage especially since this will be Romeo's last season if the Browns don't perform.

I really don't see this happening just because Schaub isn't a proven quarterback in the league.

It will be a very interesting draft if Oakland doesn't go with Russell or Detroit doesn't take Thomas for some reason.

bulger, SJAX, holt, bruce, bennett, looker and mcmichael/klopfenstein, along with a potentially dominant o-line.

greatest show on turf 2 :D

and who the hell is todd johnson?

So Schaub isn't a proven QB in the league, but he's a better QB then Vick? I hate you guys (This is only directed at the card carrying Vick haters, you know who you are!)

Acutally, I don't think the Falcon's will choose him. The Texans will at 8. I don't want Brady Quinn either. Carr v2 can kiss my ass. But if not Landry, Okoye hopefully.

zep imagine if you guys had a TE like VD. he is going to be dominant.

imagine if you guys had a WR like torry holy, oops i mean isaac bruce, oops i mean drew bennett.

OR SJAX, mcmichael, klopf

this season can't come soon enough. and the best part about the mcmichael signing is, the seahawks were trying to get him

bethel johnson is actually a good signing if its just for PR/KR duties. maybe we can get rid of mahe now.

We got rid of him on March 2nd, when Free Agency started. He is a UFA

Browns | Droughns to be released
Thu, 8 Mar 2007 16:15:25 -0800

Adam Schefter, of NFL Network, reports Cleveland Browns RB Reuben Droughns will be released.

This is the guy i want backing Westbrook. Not Dillon. Not Chris Brown. Reuben Droughns

But the problem is, he is also a guy I'd like backing up Frank Gore. We need a big beast of a RB for short yardage and goalline situations. Failing to convert on short yardage was a glaring weakness, not to mention if god forbid Frank the Tank gets hurt, we're pretty much screwed as far as running the ball.

lol as much as it saddens me to say it....since MAHE is on the market he might be the only back we add.

Why would it sadden you. West + Droughns + Moats ( who is more than capable of being the #2 back, but i think he ****ed Reids wife and thats why he doesnt get playing time) Is a hell of a RB Trio

:lol

How do feel about the eagles getting a fullback? Does Tapeh do anything? When Dorsey Levens left/retired I knew they'd never fill that position properly again.

Levens was never a fullback. He played running back.

Tapeh did a pretty fine job his first season as a starter. Blazed the way for Westbrooks 1200 yards rushing. Needs to work on his hands a little, but very solid.

He will get a nice Challenge from Jason Davis, who splits the RB/FB role/

XiaNaphryz said:
Aren't fullbacks technically considered running backs? ;)

No. Especially not in our system. Josh Parry carried the ball exactly 0 times in his full year as a starter for us. And Tapeh only touched the ball 8 times all year.

So Adam Schefter is reporting Corey Dillon nixed his visit with the Bills, because he doesnt want to play there. Says he rather play in a place like Philadelphia.

This sounds familiar. Player wants to play in Philly. Front Office wants the player!

till the front office low balls him, and the player moves on to another destination :(
