Adrian Peterson to Detroit confirmed.

Really? I guess they're not taking Calvin Johnson then....

Are there any kickers available? Is Vanderjagt still looking for a job? The Skins got rid of all their place kickers save one: Shaun Suisham. With Feely gone to Miami, I don't know of any other options...

You guys can have Olindo Mare!

im pretty sure you dont have to worry about the Lions taking a running back when they have Kevin Jones, Tatum Bell, and TJ Duckett on the roster

kevin jones may not even be back next year, and tatum bell was rumored to be getting traded again.

peterson and duckett would be a nice 1-2 punch, be afraid browns fans :D

Kevin jones will be back at some point. and they wouldnt trade tatum bell unless they knew he'd be back. Peterson aint going to the lions. Joe Thomas should be a damn near lock

I heard Jones would only be out for maybe half the year. I think it maybe a case of the Lions trying to use some tom foolery to try and get someone to trade up.

probably, but you never know. mike martz loves his toys, just imagine what he could do with peterson

guys i just had a thought: What if Tom Brady's kid with Bridget Monyhan is a boy, and his kid with Gisselle is a girl, and those kids grew up and reproduced...would the offspring become the greatest football player of all time?

i hope both of tom bradys children are girls so when they are both 19 i can get them in a 3 way and nut all over both of their faces, then send the pic to tom care of the true american hero alex smith. **** off brady!

only Brady will laugh because if they are hot he will have already sexed them up when they were 18! BRADY WINS AGAIN!

I like the acquisition of Reuben Droughns for us because it effectively cost us nothing. Tim Carter was going to get cut anyway. From the Browns point of view, Droughns was going to get cut too, it's win win.

Now we have two bruising backs as the 1-2 punch, and either James Sims or Derrick "If you look at me I fall" Ward as the change of pace guy. The fourth quarter will see a lot of tired opposing defenses. My only concern with this whole thing is that our line is really not suited for that type of running. We've gone with a more finesse set of blocking linemen than the type of guys that can push weight around, it complimented Tiki. Well we'll see. BJac broke a few big ones last year, he should be able to do it again. And BJac will be the starter. :)

Cato June will be in this week. He was part of 142 tackles last year and had 96 solos. He's fast but IMO he gets burned a lot too. We'll see.

false alarm guys. giselle isn't pregnant...yet.

god damn, Cowboys free agency is so boring this year. Leonard Davis and Brad Johnson? *yawn*

The biggest thing this week was that Romo was at the Justin Timberlake concert

Diehl, Seubert, Snee, and McKenzie fit the billing. O'Hara, though, not so much.

Cato June brings speed and that's what the LB's lack right now (though Gerris Wilkinson is fairly fast, too). His downfall is miss tackles.

For the Patriots to retain Stallworth for the 2008 season, they must pay him an option bonus of $6 million by Feb. 25, 2008. There is a subsequent roster bonus of $2 million due on March 1, a second roster bonus of $1.6 million based on playing time, a base salary of $1 million and a $400,000 workout bonus. That totals an exorbitant $11 million for 2008, or a two-year total of $14.6 million.

To keep Stallworth for 2009, the Patriots would have to pay another option bonus, this one of $2 million, by Feb. 25 of that year. In terms of bonuses and base salary, the 2009 season would be worth $5 million to Stallworth, for a three-year total of $19.6 million.

The final three seasons of the contract all include workout bonuses of $500,000 each and base salaries of $4 million each. The maximum value of the contract, if the Patriots were to keep Stallworth for all six years, is $33.1 million.
Jebus...I bet they opt out after the first year. :lol

Raiders sign Justin Griffith to 3 years, $3.8 million. Uh-oh 2 Zack Crockett. :(

Also, Tony Stewart...uh-oh Anderson!
Not really uh-oh :P

Good move on the one year deal in case whatever his "substance" problem is causes problems later on. Hopefully he straightens out and manages to stay with the team for a while.

WTF? Did Daunte Stallworth just MoClarrett himself? Why turn down a huge ass contract in favor of a bullshit 1 year deal that gives the Patriots all the control? If he busts, he gets cut and gets peanuts. If he kicks ass, then the Patriots **** him with the franchise tag until he's used up.

Who's his agent?

If they want to keep him beyond 2007, they can. I'm confused. :looks around:

My point is that the deal is awesome for the Patriots and shit for him. Free agent contracts are all about the huge signing bonus (and other guarrenteed money). If I understand things correctly, Stallworth turned that down in favor of a one year deal that pays him jack shit in guarrenteed dollars, and then gives the Patriots all of the options.

Rosenhaus is his agent.

There's a $6 million bonus before the start of the 2008 season, and after the franchise deadline. So if they franchise him, they'd have to pay $6 million on top of what they'd pay to franchise him.

Okay. So that basically guarrentees him that he'll be a free agent next offseason. That's something at least, but I still think he screwed himself. I mean, is he expecting the WR pool to be even more shallow next season? Are teams going to be even more willing to overpay mediocre guys?

I happy didn't get Stallworth. He is injury prone, wanted too much, and we already have a WR just like him in Lelie. What we need is a big strong posession WR that gets YAC, and dominates in the red zone. Meachem, Bowe, or Jarrett would be great in SF.

draft Dwayne Jarret.

and then to follow one brilliant move with another we attempted to fix our LB problems by signing cowboys LB Fowler.

oh boy sounds like fun....a career back up coming to back up the worst LB corp in the league.

The salary cap goes up again next year doesn't it? He'll get paid by somebody as long as he steers clear of whatever drug problems he was having. It wouldn't be stupid for the Patriots to go for the whole contract if he performs well this year. It's less than Deion Branch wanted, and this guy wasn't already under contract for another year prior to this offseason.

how would they be able to franchise him after 1 year? they either have to honor the contract or cut him right? i didnt think you could cut a player who still has years left on a contract, then franchise him.

i just watched some ashley lelie highlights on youtube and jesus christ jake plummer has a noodle arm. lelie would be open by 5-10 yards and literally have to stop and wait for the ball, leading to a long gain instead of a touchdown. stay retired you old bitch!

Plummer threw great deep balls, especially after a bootleg. He probably just didn't give a shit about those throws, figuring Lelie would just drop them anyway, which was usually the case.

Anyone have any idea who will be on the Madden 08 cover?

Hopefully, it's LT.;b

I bet it will be Urlacher, though. Hopefully, we get a next gen defense overhall. I don't want to play it on ps2 forever. :(

In Jake's defense, Lelie's idea of running a go route is to fly straight down field regardless of when he breaks free and only looking back for the ball at the last moment.

Though Lelie running go routes do make up most of his (and Jake's) highlights. Lelie is real poor at short routes, hooks, slants, etc., he doesn't deal well with contact from DBs and to date I can't recall a single arm tackle he's ever broken.

He could work well with Alex Smith's stronger arm and Vernon Davis being the featured all around receiver. He's not a guy you'd want to count on heavily though and he disappears completely in the red zone.

Which is why he is a former Falcon.

ESPN hires Emmitt Smith
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-smith312,0,4820929.story?track=rss

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith has been hired by ESPN as a studio analyst for its NFL pregame coverage.

Smith, the National Football League's all-time leading rusher, will appear on the network's NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown shows. He will also appear as an analyst on ESPN Radio and ESPN.com, the network announced Monday.

"I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and insight of football with the fans of the NFL," Smith said in a statement released by the network. "I am excited to be joining the ESPN family, particularly the highly respected Countdown crews."

Smith will join Chris Berman, analysts Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson and Ron Jaworski, and reporter Chris Mortensen on NFL Countdown. He, Berman, Jackson, Mortensen and analysts Bill Parcells and Steve Young will do the Monday Night Countdown show each week.

For Andokuky, Chad Johnson is on the Madden 08 cover.

I'm shocked it's not LaDanian Tomlinson. Hopefully they don't introduce some sort of new WR mechanic. Last year with Alexander on the cover they introduced run to daylight and highlight stick, the year before with McNabb on they unveiled the passing cone.... Controlling the WR after the ball is thrown in anyway is already cheesy enough.

Shiat I can't find a picture, but I had seen the concept art somewhere. it was a rather routine image of him running down the field.
