Why is that cheesy?

In Madden the AI follows the man, not the ball. So if it's man to man coverage, I could just lob up a ball, switch to the receiver, run around in a circle to get the defender into a bad position, catch the ball and easily score. Or, I could control the receiver and manually jump up to get the ball myself, cutting off the DB. Either way the AI can't make up for it, and even a human controlled player can't make up for the cut off/jump.

For Andokuky, Chad Johnson is on the Madden 08 cover.

I'm shocked it's not LaDanian Tomlinson. Hopefully they don't introduce some sort of new WR mechanic. Last year with Alexander on the cover they introduced run to daylight and highlight stick, the year before with McNabb on they unveiled the passing cone.... Controlling the WR after the ball is thrown in anyway is already cheesy enough.

Shiat I can't find a picture, but I had seen the concept art somewhere. it was a rather routine image of him running down the field.

On a past 1up yours show, Garnett said that it was the "Year of the WR" in Madden with all new WR mechanics.

Also, 2005 was when they upped the defense with defensive playmaker and the hit stick and Ray Lewis was on the cover. If it is Chad Johnson, I fear the worst. I thought maybe they'd re-introduce playmaker control or more intelligent route running, but Chad Johnson only runs 1 route! XD

Ahh interesting. Perhaps they will make the DB play the ball?

MrBob am cry:

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has vowed to never play again for the Chicago Bears.

"I am now prepared to sit out the year if the Bears don't trade me or release me," Briggs told Glazer. "I've played my last snap for them. I'll never play another down for Chicago again."

Though one of the primary reasons for the decisions is the team's refusal to try to sign him to a long-term deal, Briggs also said that he's ready to step out of the shadows of middle linebacker Brian Urlacher and be "the guy" somewhere else.

"I've talked to Brian about it," said Briggs. "I'm a competitor and I want the same thing he has. I've learned a lot from Brian as a player and a leader and I eventually want to be 'the man' somewhere. I want to be like him and have everything put on me too. Obviously I'll never be able to do that there."

If Briggs sits out the entire season, his rights will remain with the Bears, and they will be able to slap the franchise on him again.

Our take? Briggs is trying to create sufficient acrimony in the relationship so that the Bears will decide that it makes no sense to hold onto his rights -- and thus work out a trade. The problem is that, by going public with his intent to never play for the Bears again, the team necessarily has less leverage for a trade.

I agree with Briggs. Being that the NFL has 53 guys per team its not realistic for them to offer garuanteed contracts, which gives the teams most of the leverage. A guy can play great and bust his ass, only to get cut days before cashing in a roster bonus, its not fair, so I have no qualms with a player trying to look out for himself.

it wont be CJ, he was already on this last year:

Hm, Slo, have you ever considering the Vikes trading down? When I think about it more and more, I'm really not satisfied with the number 7 position. I personally vote we either trade up with the Lions (might be content without Thomas now that they have Foster, Quinn will fall) or trade down with the Patriots. Two possible ideas

Our 1st/3rd (ouch, i know) for the Lions 1st. We draft Calvin Johnson in the 1st, Tim Crowder or Quentin Moses in the 2nd.

Our 1st/6th/7th for Patriots 1st/1st/4th. We draft Michael Griffin (safety, Texas) at 24th, Joe Staley (OT, central michigan) at 28th, Chris Houston (CB, Arkansas) in the second, Craig Davis in the 3rd, Rhema McKnight in the 4th, Jacob Ford in the 4th, and Ramonce Taylor in the 5th. Tell me that is not the most badass draft of all time.

I'd take both of those deals, which probably means that they're not realistic enough. :lol

lol this is hilarious...we couldnt even get the back up we wanted. how sad is that?

We just saved lots of cap room by him not signing with us. Im quite happy with the way it turned out. Why pay a player like him that much when he hasnt proved anything, when you could draft a MLB in the 4/5th and pay him much less, with much greater up-side

You want him on the 9ers, don't you?

lance briggs can't play in the 3-4 defense, so we don't need or want him in san francisco. he can rot in hell for all i care. unless he decides he's man enough to play in san fran, then i might entertain giving a 3rd rounder for him. MIGHT.

**** Briggs.

You don't leave the family like this!

:lol

I would leave any team with Sexy Rexy in a heart beat.

Matrix, even with all the Bears problems, the team is still leagues better than the Texans!

Oh dont doubt sexy tyme at all! He will be the reason the Bears get back to the Super Bowl in '08 and win it!

Oh and if you want to listen to Briggs cry go here:

Check out the interview in the podcast section on the right side.

Oh and EA needs the year of WE FIXED THE DAMN GAME in next gen madden. :/

I've been asking for that (well, for ddr endzone) for 4 Maddens in a row :(

In NCAA 06 I think it was, there was a button modifier for doing different celebrations as you were about to score and then another one for after you scored. You could even go over the top and risk unsportsman like conduct penalties. I think you could also trigger it for things like post sack and what not.

Also, I hope this is the final nail in the coffin for Stevens. I never liked him to start with but he's been given way too many chances. Time to cut him loose.

So Bengals fans tell me what to expect from saftey Kevin Kaesviharn I guess the Saints just inked him to a deal, 4 years 10 million with 3.2 guarnateed according to good old Adam Schefter. I really wanted Ken Hamlin but maybe this guy is good.

when it comes to Kase, expect a guy who blows on coverage but can get decent INTs. he should be your nickel back, as he's only really good for passing downs. faster WRs burn him up easy, but he's still really good at getting picks. If he's ever matched up against someone man to man, unless it's a short pass his guy will get open easily. Also, his career INT numbers are probably a bit inflated, because for the most part he got them against guys who throw lots of picks anyway, or in situations where QBs were unusually bad at throwing picks.

I would be disappointed that the bengals got rid of him, but that probably just means they're going to go with an all around better DB in the draft.

So does all this WR hording mean thing New England is gonna draft more TEs again? its kinda like they refuse to draft anyone thats a big name at a skill position.

I could go for some Lance Briggs on the Bucs. :D Of course, they'd probably want this year's 1st and I dunno if that's wise to give up.

trading a top 3 pick is tough (specially when there's some real studs in the draft). I don't know if you guys will do this move because calvin johnson seems like he could be the real thing, and that's really hard to pass up; but if he gets picked up earlier, maybe the bucs pull the trigger then?
