Official Virtua Fighter 5 Battle Arena Version C Thread

Picked this up today.

Fuck its gorgoues! The AM2 logo gives me memories of the old days.... I hum the music when the logo appears :lol

Gonna have to buy a arcade stick sooner or later.

Very cool, how do I go about getting the 360 pcb + switcher route? *googling it as we speak*

Thanks btw :)
There were two links posted earlier in the thread that I've been meaning to add to the op. For the 360 board you just need a gamepad. Save yourself some money, buy a used 3rd party one from ebay or something and rip out the internals. If and when I get a High Grade or HRAP this is what I'll be doing and then, hopefully, a Logitech G25 wheel for racers on both systems. That's the plan anyways.

That wasn't a troll. He must have checked that thread on srk. It costs 130 or so for the stick shipped, and the people are charging 140 for the job (if you want a switch, 170 if you want it just to work - requires internal hub). Plus 20 dollars probably shipping back to you
Oh, no not him. I won't bother to highlight the comment though.

Honestly, I wasn't aware that the going labor costs were that high since I'd be going with a friend. I plan on paying him out of principle, but it won't be $170.

wtf? where did koko shiki come from? it's not in the manual?

It's a different stance dude(Lei Fei has 4 of them). You've probably entered the stance already. Put the advice on it will tell you how to enter that stance directly if you're having trouble.

Really, really awesome, thank you so much!

Me, I'm personally allergic to opening shit up and messing with wires. So I dont know if I should just get the VSHG and the Hori stick separate or pay someone to mod the VSHG ... I mean, it would all cost about the same at this rate (buying 2 controllers vs modding one)

Hey guys... I made 2 no name characters for the just to battle online. How do I delete them, I'd like to delete them or rename them.

BTW... I played a guy in california for 2 hours yesterday ( I live in texas) with no noticble lag at all. Its great to be able to finally play this game with people again.

Go to "customize" from the main menu. Back button when you are selecting a character thereafter to delete, or you can change the ring name after you pick one.

thanks so much, you have been a great aid:D

I started Quest mode and promptly went 47-0 in it. The difficulty is on normal, but i'm not seeing the same gruesome A.I. that Evo had in it. Do I need to crank up the difficulty for that or what? Game plays too easy in quest mode out of the box right now....

Which arcade did you select?

"Normal" quest mode difficulty in this game seems to be the equivalent of "easy" in Evo. Turn it up to hard or expert.

Also, anybody who is trying to practice combos in the dojo, make sure to check out the "details" sub-menu in the CPU settings. That's where you can set the CPU to tech roll and all; I had overlooked that for a while, personally, and was thinking the dojo was sort of useless in that respect.

Yeah, the AI is pretty stupid for a long while, early on. It seems like you're literally invincible for matches on end simply by spamming a fast mid attack until you start going up against 6th Dans or so.

Anyway, the interface in this can be truly horrible at times.

From what I've seen, if player one (er, whichever player hit start at the title screen) signs out and another player signs in without closing the blade, exiting all the way back out to the title screen, and re-opening the blade, then the new player will be stuck using the old player's characters. This was the source of some confusion, and later, annoyance.

It's a pity that such an awesome game has all these tiny problems wrapped around it.

Has anybdoy yet done the 360 and PS3 dual use mod successfully? I have someone at work who says he can do it on theory, but hed rather wait to see if someone has actually been successful at it, just because there are always differences between theory and actually doing it.

I'm not sure... you can try SRK forums.

Seimitsu PS-14G clear blues....

Bubble blue ball top.
I'm going with a blue bubble top, but I've never played with Seimitsu buttons before. Akira prefers Sanwa and I have palyed on Sanwa and they are damn nice but I wonder about Seimitsu.

I hope they patch the matchmaking so it just puts you straight into the fight. I'm getting sick of all this 'failed to join' stuff, even if it's fast to try again.

Online seems really good overall, though, once you're actually in a game. Maybe 1 in 4 matches I've played has some visually noticeable degree of stuttering; otherwise it plays very smoothly, with reaction windows just being shortened a little.

it seems the matching is first come first serve.. so if someone beats you to a challenge that is why. If you host you will never have that problem.

After looking for the VF5 stick all over town in various Gamestops today, I eventually stumbled upon a used DOA4 stick. It only cost me $30 which is pretty awesome. I'll probably end up modding it sometime in the future anyway.

Seimitsu feels good... But you can never go wrong with Sanwa... They definately have a slightly different feel, but I think they do the job well enough. If you're getting QDs for your buttons you might want to get an extra set of buttons and try em' out to see if they're to your liking...

Fuck, this game is hard when playing as Goh. Quest Mode is manageable of course, but it's very hard to land a grab against human players, especially when they use characters that punch quickly (Lion or Lei-Fei for instance). Doesn't help that the Dojo Mode doesn't properly explain how to perform certain moves / give an example, so I can't practice certain counters. Also have no idea how to tech roll sideways and an Offensive / Defensive move rarely works here.

I've been playing this with an arcade stick.

Soo~ fucking delicious.

Yeah, a lot of the things you're asking for are in Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. I wouldn't doubt that Sega-AM2 will end up making something like that for VF5.

I hope so. I don't have VF4E and stuff like sideways techrolling and whatnot is lost on me. The fact that the VF4E Dojo didn't appear on the PS3 version of VF5 doesn't bode well.

Tech roll... That's instant recovery from a knockdown, right? Just hold a different direction when tapping PKG as you land. Up, down, left, or right. I can't remember of neutral works here.

Two more things I noticed:

1) I met Thrillho in Quest Mode. "Fight to the badical!" was his motto. His character was Sarah, but I forgot which arcade he was in. There's also a "Giant Gab" with "Massive Damage" as his motto, but I find it odd how they seemingly misspelled crab.

2) Once you're in a Private Player Match with someone, the stage doesn't change. EVER. I've told the game to select random stages, but it kept picking the same one over and over. Changing the settings to "low fences" or whatever doesn't fix it either, so that's disappointing. They may have done this to reduce loading times, but it's still an awkward decision. I hope they at least provide us with the option to select the stage in a patch.

I wouldn't mind something like that as premium DLC to be honest. I don't think I'd buy VF5: Evolution, unless they went with 30 bucks instead of full price. And VF4: Evo would be useless for me, since that game doesn't support the analog stick as far as I know and I won't buy a PS2 arcade stick just for one game.

I really, really want to use my Sega Saturn style PS2 pad on VF5 360. Am I completely screwed? Would it work with that XFPS converter?

I never did like using arcade sticks, but D-pads sufficient for fighters are rarer than they should be, and the 360's stock pad is at the bottom of the barrel. :(

We talked about QD's he states they will be a tight fit but If I can exchange them for sanways later on I think that may be the way to go.

Um, is that Hori Xbox 360 Fighting Stick EX2 good?

And where can I get it at the lowes price? (They should ship to Europe)

Does a US Fighting Stick work on a PAL-360?

Which one's and how.

If you get the yellow question mark next to it, highlight it in the moves list I forget which button it is to demonstrate the move. Select or back or something. It should be fairly straight forward

Does the Tech Roll work for all players?? I can't seem to pull it off with WOLF??!!! and it seems like everyone using other characters can..ERRR!!!!!
man people online are really good already I dunno if this is from PS3 players coming over or what, but I have played some really quality players with in the first couple of days of release, not too many noobs playing(or least not a night)

I REALLY want this game (fifth game purchase slated for Nov...brutal), but I'm a complete noob to the VF series. Is this game worth it even if I can't commit a copious amount of time to getting my joystick kung fu down to an artform?
