Granted, I may just not be good enough at this game to truly appreciate why these are great videos - I've had a very isolated VF experience until the online with 360 due to lack of local arcades, etc - but to me, these aren't really that amazing of techniques. Honestly, for the style of fighting they are using, I think there are far better characters to do this with.
The reason that I personally gravitated to Vanessa was because I think she's one of the best characters for playing defensively. If you keep your opponent at bay, it seems to me that she's got some of the best reaching tags in the game, with very low recovery times and minimal vulnerability, yet enough fluidity to land out a good string and apply some heavy pressure when the defense creates a good opening from frustrated failed attempts.
Jives well with my style, since I can't stand an opponent all up in my face trying to play "guess the right block direction"...but if you're going to work towards that situation regularly anyways, she's really not fast enough to compete with a Kage or whoever, and if you're going to just become a grappler once you get into range, why not just go with a Wolf and lap up the bonus damage?
Maybe I'm missing something.
Again, I'm really not that good and never pretend to be, so sorry if it doesn't make sense to the people who study this game like a religion or whatever. Just my two cents.
