Anyone else in Europe who wants a couple of friendly matches? Gamertag is Telperiel, I could turn the thing on and see if anyone invites me.

I have bad memories of the official dreamcast stick being fairly slow to snap back, and I ended up having to go in and construct some semi-effective stick stiffening measures (ie:strategically placed rubber bands) in order to get it to be reasonable. Is the Hori stick snappy and quick? Or does it feel mushy and slow?

Goh ain't gonna be any easier than Wolf to defend against those with fast moves.Dai Kaiju said:I've been doing player matches all day and have lost probably around 95% of them. Wolf is the only character that's been fun to play for me so far, but I have so much trouble against players who like to get in close with fast moves...which is pretty much everyone. I'm thinking of switching to Goh.
Your headset had some echo by the way.chespace said:Heh, after I played you, I played another gaffer, beat him, and then after that, ran into MacVlad's Goh and got thoroughly pwned.
Good games all around.

A common flowchart to follow is low punch into Screwhook (hcb+P, P). It's a simple thing to do but you need to confirm that the low punch hits on a counterhit before going into the Screwhook. Odds are even though the low punch hits, the opponent will try to counter with a low punch of their own or with another attack, in which case the Screwhook is gonna kill them and knock them down. But if the low punch is blocked or is just a normal hit and you still go for the screwhook then they can easily sidestep it and you'll get screwed.
Check out one of my matches as a reference... first round about 20 seconds in. Also, 50 seconds in you can see what happens if you don't hit confirm the first Screwhook hit.People can duck the second hit even if it's on a normal hit, so you have to make sure this goes into a counterhit if you want the knockdown.

Here's another thing that works really well against faster characters (aka everyone except Jeffry :lol). I tend to use this a little too much against opponents so it can get pretty predictable but against new players this should be golden. Use his f+P, P attack, and if it's blocked, backdash and use b+K (his straight kick). Even if the second P is blocked it pushes people back enough that if they just throw out something as a counter the b+K is gonna hit. Obviously there are exceptions to this but Wolf's b+K is fast enough to snuff out a lot of counterattacks.
See round 2 here... Jacky tries to use f+P to counter but it doesn't have enough range to catch the backdash so Wolf's b+K hits him to end the round. In round 5 I tried the same flowchart again but the Jacky player was smart enough to remember what happened the last time I used it so even though I still hit him with b+K because he tried to move in, he adapted really quickly to this series of moves. You can also see in round 3 how I use K+G to cover Jacky's evade attempts, which was kind of a weakpoint of Wolf's in VF4.

If you got any other questions about Wolf just post up and I'll give you some more stuff. Wolf, Goh and Lion are the characters I play so I know quite a bit about them.
CurseoftheGods said:Reno, do the rumours about VF5 getting an VF4:Evo-type upgrade with new characters have any truth to them?
·feist· said:I've always assumed an online multiplat VF5 Evo would happen, but where are you guys hearing this from?
Most of them are made up by SEGA, and other were included because of a contest among the press (see one of MarkMan's post in the previous page).jobber said:I just got this Saturday from CC.
My big question is and I don't know if it's been answered, but where does the data from the quest mode opponents come from? I mean the player's name and the little messages.
Is that stuff taken from the servers or just randomly generated? Because I just played an CPU opponent with a GAF user name.
Lag, or is there something wrong with your controller?Dartastic said:Has anyone else encountered problems when fighting online? Lately I've been having a problem where my character just stands there and blocks, and I can't get her to do anything else. This is even made worse when your character just winds up lying on the floor, and the person who is playing you just spams the up + a. UGH.
Just pick a character you like best (by appearance or by moves, whatever), and start with the Dojo Mode. Then play the Quest Mode so you can practice how to execute your moves in an actual battle before you go online.xabre said:I bought the game. I'll get a chance to play it when I get home tomorrow.
Any advice on starting out? I mean what's the best character to begin with, what's the best way to get half-decent at the game? Tips, ideas, thoughts etc?

You can play in the same arcade endlessly, as the same fighters will keep showing up. It is possible to 'clear' an arcade, that is, beat every player that frequents that arcade. In the match-up screen, the little yellow star next to the challenger's name indicates that you have beaten them.Barkley's Justice said:can someone answer this: do the arcades in quest mode ever end? for example, i keep playing all the challengers but i never seem to "beat" any of the arcades; the fighters just keep coming and coming. am i wrong to presume they actually end at some point?

I'm trying to just clear the beginner's arcade but there's a neverending stream of non-starred players and I'm like 80 fights in.
Seconding this request! Is there a site that lists all of the items you can win?
So i am looking for un-starred names? I played in an arcade last night for 60+ wins thinking maybe the next guy will be the last :lolMaztorre said:Go to the world map view, press start, then select the "status" option. From there, you can get a list of every rival sorted by arcade, along with a percentage completion for that arcade. You can therefore see exactly how many fighters you have left to defeat in each arcade. Handy when you're going after the achievements for clearing the arcades. Also, if you enter an arcade screen and your choice of 3 matchups all have a star beside them, you can exit and then enter the arcade again to get another 3 random matchups that may have an unstarred fighter among them. I just finished off the beginner's arcade today, still have a shit-ton of work to do and I have no idea where I stand in terms of items.
Seconding this request!

Well, Sega did kinda promise DLC eventually, I think...You won't find a lot of those character items in the 360 version since they were recently added to the arcade rev...

Okay, taking a look now. I'll probably skip those if they're not needed for the "collect all items for one character" achievement. Getting the orbs and items are a little easier than I thought, since item battles happen pretty often for me.Reno said:Actually, the DLC is up now. 3 new items per character..... 300points.
