Official Virtua Fighter 5 Battle Arena Version C Thread

some of the achievements are to defeat all challengers at specific arcades. How do you accomplish that? It seems they just keep coming.

If they have a star beside their name that means you have already beat that player, so you can quite then enter the arcade again till someone shows up that does not have a star. Some of the A.I opponents only show up when you max out your rank.

Well, for anyone that knows me, I'm going to have a little vf5 session and competition on the 15th dec. This will be very similar to what I did for VF4 Evo, so think of it like a good ol' VF stroke dinner party. So Jide, Oli, Stuart, KneeNinja and others, give me a shout as I'm having difficulty getting hold of you and others. It's been a long time...

Thanks Feist.

Yes, to elaborate to those good people that who knows me and good friends of mine.

The event / chill-down party is going to be called "2007nen Seiki no Taiketsu : Kenshirou ari-na". I might give out prizes too, afterall, Christmas is around the corner. :)

So give me a PM Optimus, Jide, KneeNinja, etc etc. It's been awhile...

Thanks, I was wondering what those stars meant. I assumed they were like a super challenger or something.:lol

Yeah, I'm in CA. We've definitely played before. I was wondering why your tag looked so familiar...

Im looking for some good Akira videos and/or strats. I picked him up this weekend finally and started to get the hang of his moves. I had been trying to for months to pick him up but it finally clicked this weekend. Had to get someone else to play besides Goh.. :lol

Item Pack 2 is out, was it ever confirmed whether these are new items or not? I mean, could you get them without having to buy the item pack?

Item Pack 1 looks like an unlock key. Let me look up Item Pack 2 and see if this is still the case.

Oh and just for the record. I'm one item shy(green light shoes) of getting all of Eileen's stuff and I don't have any of the items from item pack 1. I imagine this'll be the same case for item pack 2 as well.

Thanks a lot Sega. =/

I've posted quite a few Akira videos in this thread. Please check back at my posts to check them out.

Yeah I saw some of them.. The one against Eileen was pretty good... Have anymore good ones?

OMG! SICK SICK SIC AKIRA vs JACKY expert play! Both characters were seriously duking it out: analysing styles, checking and creating openings and pulling off some crazy combos. Everyone, check this video out and see the true power of Version C (Gotta love those intros too):

Damn!

Also, check out this video below which shows off some really cool Sarah play. Take special notes on the 3rd round:

Japan - December 6 — On Sale Now

I'm assuming that the majority of players who'd want it have already bought it for PS3 which could leave sales largely in the hands of collectors and double-dippers who want the revisions and online play.

Is it me, or do the champions give rounds to the opponent?

In every major battle I see on youtube, I see the champ sucking in the middle 2 rounds, then destroying in the last round. Coincidence, or are they toying w/ opponents.

Ive been playing a ridiculously aggressive Akira online... I've never seen anyone play like the guy.

I think its the rush, its a good rush to try and come back and to make that comeback, clutch win so to speak. It's what makes a champ a champ imo.

They're not really giving rounds... most people just save the matches that are "good" in terms of match drama/combos/etc. There's no real point in saving a match replay if all that's happening is someone getting stomped 3 - 0.

I agree with Reno, but I still believe that some seem to be doing it out of boredom, self challenge, overconfidence, mind games, a flair for the dramatic and a few other reasons.
but mostly selective saves and uploads of fights :P

Whatever the case it makes for great drama and suspense.

Its a mixture of many things...

1) Some people do not want to throw all their aces in the first two rounds, so they play at a moderate skill level on the first one or two rounds then play to their max on the rest.

2) Similar to 1. Some people are good at reading their opponent playing style... If you keep playing your opponent with the same style then, eventually, that opponent would be able to figure out that style and think of a counter. To reduce the chances of that happening, the player plays in a lower skill level.

3) Some likes to pan out the fight so their opponent would have some fun too

Ultimately, it depends on the situation, playing condition (at home or arcades) and attitude.

Man this game is brutal !! implaying El Blaze right now, played for many hours, 200 wins in Quest mode, and i only got like 40% of the items, and i dont think ive gotten any items that were costume based except for costume 1! wtf !

i want more loot !

I ordered this game for the 360, haven't played a VF game since my VF2 days on Saturn. Will my mind be blown by its awesomeness and complexity and will it kick my ass while I am learning to play it?

5 is my first VF and I'm doing just fine with Goh (supposedly one of the trickier characters). So I don't think you'll be overwhelmed either.

To unlock Costume C
you need to become a 1st Dan

To unlock Costume D
you need to complete the first orb disc

As for the custom stuff, well..

Couple of new Version C (arcade) vids for you guys. You can check out a sick Lei-Fei and Aoi here, against my lame Lion. :lol :lol

Me vs. Aoi - good Aoi player, nice mix-ups with the throws, and good guesses. Should've went for the sidekick instead of the throw at the end of the match! This was also my 1000th match with Lion in VF5. Hooray for celebrations!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YQFKxNMjZW0

Me vs. Lei-Fei (Kazu-kun) - This player is Kazu-kun (he's featured in the Black Book DVD on the Junior team, using Kage I think). He's 13 or 14. He owned me. :(
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PiBgUh59k9E

If Lei players want a good Lei to copy, Kazu-kun is as good as any. His ability to nail that stupid ass d/f, d/f+PP launcher is uncanny. >_<

I use that launcher quite a bit but I'm constantly having to change it because people figure me out so I keep having to go d/f d/f+P P+G+K

EDIT: I wish the 360 had those intros,

EDIT2: He saved that grab for the last round:D what are the 2 thrust attacks he does after the dP?

no no no, i have those, im ranked as a Warrior right now :P. But i want like new shirts for the D Costume that i cant buy, or new pants for C i cant buy ....im sick of just getting stuff for costume A only.

All i get are masks, a few special pants for Costume A, and then like wrist bands and shit...dont get me wrong, i love new masks, and Costume A is my favorite for sure, but id like some diversity :P

Gonna have to be a little more specific here. :lol Which fight? Which round?

last round LeiFei fight...sorry.

Ah crap, for that fight I have no idea... I don't play Lei Fei so I can't say. Anyone else know?

Here's my latest vid against Anaguma, one of the top players in Osaka. His Jacky is awesome, and well... I still suck. :lol I can't believe I missed two easy ass combos in the same match. :(

For the record, GAF's own cutitupfresh has tastefully ripped off my costume set-up for El Blaze.

I look forward to facing him online again in the near future. :)

Gotten into some good scraps in Player Matches. The holidays took too much out of my wallet, though, not leaving me much scratch for a decent stick. I've had to wrap up my right wrist because of my controller config (Guard on RB) and my chaotic play style.

My "horny devil" Sarah is sittin' pretty on the leaderboards of Score Attack B if you want to check me out (watch some embarrassing second rounds against Goh and Akira). You can see where I'm having difficulty hitting the diagonals on the 360 d-pad when I flub her Setup Combination and do a crouching punch instead. (This is also the reason why I don't do many down attacks.) I sometimes flick the analogue stick instead with better results. If the game didn't rely on double-taps so much, the analogue stick wouldn't be half-bad at all.

Still trying to figure out who to learn next, but I keep thinking I'd like to wait until I buy a stick...

I'll try and figure it out today, when I get back from work I'll be online playing if anyone wants to play.

Totally behind the curve here - I played the arcade ver. C for the first time today - HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS SO GOOD! I have ver. B for PS3, but really, this is an amazing update. It feels so fluid and there's so much movement, it really puts Tekken 6 to shame in my eyes; that game really feels 2d compared to this. Me & my Aoi can't beat anyone, but really it's the best arcade fighter going at the moment, imo.

I don't see how that poses a problem.

Sorry, the link was on IGN's Xbox 360 page today. I wouldn't be entering (so I didn't read into it), but I posted thinking some of the better players could look into it.
