Anyway,Ace said he will meet Luffy at the Pirates' Summit, which he means when he becomes very strong. So it's too early for them to meet.
My question is how can he "use" it?GG-Duo said:Chapter 159.
Also, "Pirate's summit" is a figure of speech, not an actual place.

They seem to be in the florian triangle now and met a skeleton with an afro; Luffy asked him to join his crew and he said yes. :lol
Following the cancellation of 4Kids' dub of One Piece (please refer to this story), some interesting developments have been appearing at the forums of One Piece fansite Arlong Park. Forum poster firecrouch asked Viz Media's Anthony Jiwa some questions about the status of the series at Anime Expo. (You can read his chronicles, spreading across several posts, on this page.)
To save time from all that reading, Toon Zone member Yash conveniently saved us the trouble by only posting the relevant information (which I'll lazily quote):
-First and foremost, probably more important than anything: Toei wants the One Piece dub to continue, but NOT with 4Kids. This opens up new possibilities that Toei may very well pull the 4Kids license and market it to other companies who are interested, or possibly dub it themselves with Cloverway.
-One Piece DVDs are not only being outsold by its manga counterpart, but also appears to be the least-selling of all Shonen Jump DVDs, as even Hikaru no Go is outselling it.
-Some Japanese represenatives at Anime Expo were apparently disgusted at some of the plot changes (namely dealing with the certain death of a certain character, involving dungeons), and would make sure to talk Toei about it (this happened several months before 4Kids announced their halting of the dub, apparently).
-According to FUNi reps, Shueshia is the company who licensed Yu-Gi-Oh!, Shaman King, and One Piece out to 4Kids. Also, FUNi's position on the status of the series: "Unofficially... sad."
-Toei reps are surprised at the fanbase that the original version has, and that people like the original music.
-Viz has not been distributing DVDs for 4Kids, but rather, on behalf of Toei. This may be why the DVDs are so... different... from other 4Kids DVD releases (no 4Kids logo anywhere except for on the actual episodes, not very good packaging, actual extras, etc.).
4Kids has completely removed all references to One Piece from their sites, with the sole exception to one part of 4Kids.tv.
Here's the info: onepiece.htm redirects to the main 4Kids page on www.4kidsentertainment.com/home/home.php
www.kingdofthepirates.com/ redirects to 4kids.tv.
The forums for One Piece on 4Kids.tv has been removed.
The only thing left is the following:
A section on 4Kids.tv
Image of Luffy on 4Kids page.
From a TZ poster at the recent NY Comicon
I went to the Chaotic booth at ComicCon and asked about One Piece. 4Kids no longer has the rights and apparently the license has now defaulted to either Viz or Bandai (there was some confusion). The people at the booth were actually pretty nice and felt bad that OP fans weren't getting uncuts already. They also didn't think 4Kids even owned the tapes of the original Japanese episodes, so either Al Kahn is a bigger xenophobe than we thought or a subbed version couldn't legally happen in the first place.
This upcoming con season is gonna be pretty interesting once everything clears up.

Ep 324 corresponds to chapter 439. Try looking at Mangahelpers or Arlong Park.Beezy said:So like, after three straight weeks of watching One Piece, I've completely caught up (filler arcs were skipped). Yeah. I posted this in the Fall Anime Season thread, but I can just copy and paste it in here.grandjedi6 said:It was actually good.

So yeah, after hearing the whole episode of the One Piece dub, I'm mostly really really pleased with it.
Luffy's voice still sounds forced and not very natural, but his personality is finally back at long last. They really nailed his CHARACTER, so hopefully Colleen can grow into the role and nail the sound too.
Zoro sounds damn good. Zoro was easily the most decent and tolerable thing in the 4Kids dub, but even then, basically none of his actual character was there. He was just "a guy." Here he sounds like the gruff strong man he is. An improvement, even though he was the character that probably least required improving.
Sanji sounds worlds better (which isn't exactly hard, but still). He's a little nondescript right now compared to his Japanese counterpart's extremely smooth and cool voice, but he'll grow into that too. Sounding good.
Usopp sounds GREAT. I wasn't super sold on him from the short clip that was going around, since he was basically 100% Krillin in that clip, but here he sounded great. Nailed the character. Nailed the sort of voice he should have. Awesome work. Best thing in the new dub so far.
Nami. Meh. I can't say I like her voice all that much. Something about her tone and acting bothers me. It's not like she's super bad or anything, though. I just don't care for it much. Probably the only member of the cast NOT improved from the 4Kids version.
Chopper is a little bit of a mixed bag. When he's completely calm and normal, he sounds a little girly, but when he's spazzy, he sounds spot on perfect. Kudos for FUNi also understanding that big Chopper has the same voice as little Chopper and not giving him some dumb "tough" voice when he goes big. Overall an improvement, though not as much as some of the other members of the cast.
Robin is another big time improvement. Gone is the accent, leaving simply a mature intelligent sounding adult woman. What a novel concept. Perfect.
Everything else was pretty good too. The name changes that remain from 4Kids will just have to be tolerated for the TV dub, but they'll be gone on DVD anyway. Overall, good work by FUNi. More or less accurate translations of the original dialogue, characters acting the way they did in the original Japanese, and voice work ranging from tolerable to excellent. Thumbs up.
If the series had gotten this kind of treatment from the beginning, the franchise wouldn't be in this pathetic state in the US.

Yes.NotMSRP said:So the DVD will have Zoro and Log Pose instead of Zolo and Grand Compass?
MetatronM said:Yes.
There will be no version of One Piece that you can buy from FUNi that will have Zolo or Trace or any other 4Kids name on it. The TV edit, however, will have to maintain consistency with what 4Kids did.
Shouta said:Hrm. Overall, it's better but I actually like some of the 4kids voices compared to the new ones. Zolo, Usopp, and and Nami from the 4kids version are the ones I definitely prefer. Sanji and Robin are a huge improvement. Chopper and Luffy are about the same. Actually, Luffy sounds like a voice-a-like without quite as much exaggeration, hah.
It's really nice to have the actual music and everything back. Hopefully, the script writing stays solid. I've gotten used to some of the amusing jokes in the 4kids version, that's about the only thing thing they did right.
grandjedi6 said:How are they going to do that. Revoice the sections needed just for the DVD?
grandjedi6 said:Really? I couldn't stand the Ussop in the 4kids version while I thought the funimation one was actually decent
Snaku said:I only caught the beginning of the episode, but FUNi's dub is a tremendous improvement. I can't wait for their DVD boxsets.
They record the audio for the TV dub and the uncut DVD dub at the same time.
Shouta said:Yeah, I loved the 4kids Usopp. It had this really exaggerated tone that works for the character and had this very storyteller-esque sound to it. My only beef is the shouting was too exaggerated (general complaint with the 4kids version) and the serious moments were a bit hokey but the shouting could've been toned down and the original music with a bit better voice direction would've helped the serious moments.
