Luffy sounds like he's being voiced by the same VA that used to do Nami's voice. It's exactly the same. Chopper's annoying now. His voice staying squeaky when he turns huge makes no sense.
 
So how far is the manga along compared to the show currently? It pains me inside everytime I see a darked spoiler and you guys gushing about the manga.

Not that far actually. In fact the anime and manga are so close right now they are force to add fillers to the anime to keep a distance
 
But don't worry people, they are not Naruto, 2yrs-like fillers ;)

Just a small bunch of them per season.

Yeah. The new filler that they are going into will probably only last 10 episodes or so and then we will hopefully head into the
Thriller Bark
Arc. The only time the fillers got bad was during the Water 7 arc with the "character history" episodes and repeated flashbacks. I actually hope funimation cuts some of that out when they dub it since it really messes up the pacing of the arc.

No. It makes perfect sense. Chopper only changes forms and nothing else, he's still the same person in all cases. His voice represents this. When he turns into his "Man" form he isn't getting older just bigger

not true...its quite far in terms of events...almost a whole arc...a short arc but probably the most action packed so far... Really, recent events have been fantastic
 
I actually liked One Piece's fillers. It's fun seeing all the characters fooling around and it fits the whole island-to-island adventure theme.

Uh, he still get bigger, and his neck/throat changes size in the process. Not changing the voice is lazy and inconsistent.

no it isnt, he just bigger...he is still a kid...though his voice does change, alot with
monster chopper
 
Re filler -

I too like the "Each character gets an extra adventure" fillers. I kinda look forward to Zoro being put in some rediculous situation, Sanji getting involved in another cooking battle of some kind, etc. It's a GREAT way to get another ~5 episodes of filler out of an arc.

What I HAAAATED was how Enies Lobby didn't contain "filler" per se - it just stretched things out to a RIDICULOUS degree. It took what would have been undoubtedly my favorite arc and instead made it a shore to watch. I kept track, and for several episodes in a row you would hit the SEVEN MINUTE mark and the "last episode recap" would still be happening. It would take over 7 minutes of a 22 minute show just to get to new material. If Enies Lobby had ~7ish episodes taken out entirely and that recapping/rehashing trimmed down significantly it would have made a world of difference.

It's actually very consistent. The theme with Chopper (as with all other Zoan(beast changing) fruit users) is that he is always the same person no matter the form. His voice helps reflect that.

I'm actually hoping Funimation edits some of the excess "character backgrounds"episodes and flashbacks from the episodes.

What Nami/Robin shopping episode? Are you talking about the scene in the opening? Because those scenes are made only for the opening, they aren't from an episode
 
I keep hearing the DBZ characters in their voices (Piccolo and Krillin), overall not bad but Luffy sounds the same. Though I guess the voice was never necessarily bad, just the script and the wrong emotions at the wrong time. And I guess they also had to balance that they couldn't go too far from the original, considering the original dub did have fans of its own (younger kids mainly)

So Bear has a death note, lolz. I'm guessing his power is to teleport people (including himself). I wonder if how he's going to play into this arc and I wonder if this means ACE will be back in the not too distant future :D

I'm going to guess Ace = dead, and is there to tell Moria that Blackbeard is a new Shichibukai. What I'm wondering more is how Luffy is going to beat Moria with the sun coming up. He has to beat Moria to get back everyone's shadows (and just not his crew's since he proposed that one old guy).

Did he send perona on her dream holiday? He does look pretty sinister though. Im betting physically he is a much bigger threat than Moria. Moria's threat is his ability. Im guessing he has some sort of Vendetta with Moria, considering he seems to be a bible basher and Moria is described as the Lord of the Underworld or some such. Im betting the Ace referrence was an aside and he is there for some personal business with Moria

I still dont like it at all though, since Im so used to the Japanese VA, the characters just sound wrong...if the 4 kids was worse than this, it must have been terrible

Terrible would be giving it credit. I really don't care for the english dubs at all, but I do care that it means games will be released.

Well you will always perfer the original version you watch, especially if that version is its native version. I never watched the japanese version much or DBZ so these voices are working fine for me. At least you know Funimation is trying hard to appease fans unlike the 4kids dub.
Oh and here is an example of the 4kids dub
And this is probably the worst thing 4kids did to the dub.

It really wasn't a good dub at all

Skipping Laboon and Little Garden were both probably more catastrophically damaging to the series' storyline than those edits, though.

Actually the last opening was the same length. They did get rid of the ending themes though to compensate for the longer opening

THere are alot of scanalations of one piece on the internet. Just google one piece manga or something

Just got an email from HLJ requesting payment for my Neo Portrait of Pirates Luffy & Nami! It was looking like they wouldn't have enough stock to fulfill all the pre-orders, but mine will be shipping out this week. I'm so excited I can barely stand it. :D

Most places I've checked are out of stock, though I think you can still get Nami at HLJ.com. They were ¥4,000 each.
 
I just finished watching the water 7 arc, jesus christ almighty. so GOOD. holy shit just holy shit, lots of great moments and scenes, what an emotional rollercoster it was.

I watched like 100 episodes in 2 weeks. Im reading the manga since Im so weak for this shit. so many cool stuff going on now.

Have you read the manga version of Water 7, just as great but not drawn out with filler.

Unlike the other two big manga/animes One piece is still getting better

Are they going into filler on the anime? I figured they would, but with my very small knowledge of the next arc the opening looks like they aren't.
