This is just a contest for a sneak preview of one of those shows on Sept. 4. Dubbed OP will air later on this year on the Foxbox.

I voted for it. I want to see more. Not that I particularly like it or anything, but I'd like to see a full episode before I make a final judgement. A small video with tinny sound isn't quite enough. Anyway, let's play "guess the VA!" Luffy sounded like Ash Ketchum and Zoro sounded like Tristan from Yu-Gi-Oh! Zoro wasn't too bad, but Luffy......eeeeuuuuughghhh. Also, way to misrepresent the product, 4kids. Most of it is random grunt pirates yelling.

Edit: And honestly, though I hate it, would any of us have really been satisfied with the dub? ESPECIALLY for Luffy, whose voice is pretty unique?

Edit 2: nm, Luffy = Gohan?!

Right, but I still don't see what voting against it proves.

You underestimate the wrath of the internet anime fanboy.
Anyway, it was bad, but I'd like to see the whole preview on the 4th before making all judgments.
Although Luffy was pretty terrible. Its like they said, okay, he's just like that kid from Pokemon, only a pirate.
But hey, maybe we'll get some decent OP toys over here.

I dunno, I'd rather support it even if I didn't care for the dub (haven't heard it, so I can't take a stance on it), and wait for the eventual uncut dvds. I mean, you know a show like this is going to lose content due to being on a kid-friendly channel, but I'd like to think it'll go over big enough to get uncut dvd releases like Shaman King and YGO.

And if I'm busy going "omg teh gotta catch em all, I'm voting for mew mew instead, how DARE they do this"... it's counterproductive.

You know, they should've brought back Jaleel White to do Luffy's voice. Its honestly the closest to the Japanese VA I can think of. You know, the one he did for Sonic all those years back. Luffy's voice can get slightly nasal and its in that ambiguous gender range.

No matter what they did/do, it can't be as good as the original voices... I mean, like when Zoro fights Mihawk and Luffy screams "Zoroooooooo"... is there really any english voice actor who can do that?

Localizing it means making for allowances, imo. Just as long as Sanji doesn't sound like James from Team Rocket or sport a french accent... or both... :(

L.O.L.

What a great avatar.

And the voices aren't going to be bad in the "oh, they can't match the Japanese voices anyway so of course it's going to be disappointing." It's just going to be flat out, objectively terrible, just like Pokemon, just like Yu-Gi-Oh.

And Luffy's voice just hurt my ears just now. Zoro...eh, didn't really sound rough enough, but he might be about as good as the show gets.

Episode 36 was really sad, made my eyes wet :(

The restaurant boat almost made me tear out my eyes out of sheer boredom, having a fight go on for 10 episodes with a bunch of stupid twists and flashbacks is really bad story progression. Now, it’s basically the same with the fishes.
Will the story progression get better?

I continue to watch it since I kind of like it and hate it at the same time.

Doesn’t anyone else find it disturbing how Luffy hardly ever gets scratched while everyone else gets cut and smashed to pieces? I want to see Luffy get cut… badly…

O_O What?
O_O I don’t care and ill go to sleep now
O_O
O_O ehhhhhhh
O_O
O_O

first time, i was shocked, especially the start with gold roger
second time, it was grudging tolerance.

luffy sounds like he has hit puberty yet. not exactly what you want in a pirate captain.

Luffy gets beat up pretty bad. I don't know what you're talking about. Just look when he's fighting Kuro, for instance. The thing is that until they get a certain crew member around the late 80s/early 90s episodes, Luffy is the only crew member with Devil Fruit powers. Also, his power is rubber, which means his body can stand a lot more punishment since it can bend and stretch with most blows. However, blades are his main weakness, and it seems he usually doesn't have to deal with them much, anyway, since Zoro takes on most of the blade users.

Anyway.....A low-quality scan of 333 is out, go to Arlong Park for the details....

There's no translation or summary out, so going by the scans it seems that Usopp continues to beat the crap out of Luffy. He tries to use Gatling, but Usopp strikes back. Luffy comes at him again and Usopp uses an Impact Dial. I would assume that Usopp basically runs out of stuff to use and, as week as he is, it only seems to take one hard punch from Luffy to take him down. Everybody is, obviously, shocked and Chopper, especially, gets upset. As the chapter closes, it would seem that Luffy stands defiant with his decision. The crew leaves the unconcious Usopp with some medical supplies and food and Luffy returns to the ship. The last panel shows Luffy pulling his hat down over his face and crying. So....I would assume this means that Usopp is no longer a part of the crew. :(

One Piece is so unbelievably good.
I never expected this turn of events, and I am impressed at how it's handled.

So, what is the deal with ...., then? Has Oda always said in the past that someone from the team needs to be .....? Did he ever provide a reason?

blah!

I read GG-Duo's spoiler... then Belfast's last sentence too... WHY!?
I thought he wanted to be a warrior of the sea.:(

Hehehe. I haven't even read through the second half of Arabasta or Skypiea or the Long Island Arcs. I honestly just skipped right over to Water 7 (the current one). So, I've saved a nice chunk of the anime to watch as long as my patience holds out. It'll take K-F another couple years to get to where Japan is now, so I might eventually collapse and just read the rest of the manga.

Anyway,
this doesn't necessarily mean Usopp is out for good. It just means he's out for now. There's still A LOT more to this arc than we're seeing and apparently it takes a week for the log post to set in Water 7. They've only been there one *day.* So Usopp isn't going anywhere without a ship and a log pose, since he can't really navigate, either. I think we'll see him rejoin before the end of the arc, but who knows. Plus, I think he DID accomplish something...he became a brave warrior of the sea...to take on Luffy, a huge bounty whose defeated stronger men than Usopp and nearly win? Also notice that Usopp didn't seem scared at all during the fight? I think he accomplished his goal. :)

I'm really sorry guys, I didn't mean to do that.

Please note that any spoilers I post are going to be about the manga. I don't watch the anime.

Belfast, you should seek 'em out. They are both extremely satisfying and well "directed". In fact, I think i like them better than even the Chopper arc.

Something about trimming the fat to make it through Grand Line. The comment was kind of ambiguous though, because he went into how popular the characters are. Given Oda's style, I don't think Usopp can disappear until Robin's situation is figured out, so I don't think we'll see the last of him for a while yet.

You got some serious willpower. I caved in to the manga a long time ago since I caught up to the KF episodes and needed more OP.

Well, to tell the truth, I know some things here and there about the arcs I haven't seen yet. But I don't know much about how things get accomplished or some of the twists or whatever. I'm just sort of aware of the character involved and general situation.

Summer is ending now...

Will we only get a new episode every other week now? I am praying K-F expand their group. It's the only way. ;__;

lol be thankful they're still subbing it. ;p

Indeed. *bows to K-F*

I'm just saying you know... :(

kinda off-topic: do you guys think it's possible to learn japanese in a year? I'm talking about putting in 6-7 hours a week.

No. I put in much more than that (combined class time + homework would be about 10 hours a week for me, give or take) and you'll be lucky to pass the first proficiency test.

Maybe it was cause I was in Japan, but I learned about a semester's worth of Japanese in about 2 weeks or so (largely by myself, since our class sucked). Now, first-semester Japanese isn't really very much (I can pick up keywords here and there, and very simple sentences I can understand), but it is possible to learn it to a certain degree in a very short amount of time.

That said, even while in Japan, I was probably putting in (with class time and whatnot factored in) about 13-16 hours a week. So, you'll probably have to literally double your efforts if you want to see real fast progress.

Anyone know when the Kaizoku Bittorrent tracker is coming back? I only saw two or three episodes. :( I've started downloading Naruto, and I like that one so far.

You can't go wrong with either of them. As for the tracker, they said they are working on a new one, but most likely they will put 105 on the temp tracker.

Try XX, they have about 3 bots serving all episodes and another few serving the most recent. Queues are fairly minimal & it's very fast.

I did try IRC but there was a wait time of 13 hours and 60+ people in line... And the DC++ hub has a no porn policy :rolleyes

Ok... just this minute I requested episode 64 & it instantly started downloading. The bot XXhas like 30 odd slots open, so queues aren't a problem.

Try it.

I think you should look a little bit harder. I just joined the channel and was able to get a file transfer immediately from one of there archive bots.

Is 104 on a temp tracker? I've been trying to download it for over a week.

=_=;;

I've been lenient about OP since you guys get the dubbing shaft but no mentioning of the "pirates'" IRC channel and how/where to get the material =P. I've said it before and I will say it again. I'm not allowing this sort of stuff because it could get us in trouble and I'd rather not have GAF shut down because someone couldn't be hush hush ;p.

Customer at my job is apparently snagging me the discs that follow the Crocodile arc. I can put up with Sunkist and Roof if it means seeing what happens next... I saw the end of this arc like three months ago, been jonesing for more ever since.

My bad shouta. :D

Just another 25 episodes to go.... -_-;;;;; At least it IS entertaining though.

Anyway, its that time again....Ch. 334 scans are out somewhere. They are the low-quality ones, but still quite a bit can be gleaned.

The Luffy pirates evacuate the Going Merry. Its completely empty except for a still bruised Usopp and the Straw Hat Jolly Roger. Luffy seems to be in a pretty depressed/serious mood of the whole thing and I suppose the rest of the crew is still in a weird state of transition. They find out that Iceberg has been attacked by an unknown assailant and, once he is in informed of the incident, Pauley leaps into action, as well. I should note some of the people over at K-F thinks that the focus on Pauley here is even more evidence that he could become the next crew member. Anyway, at the scene of the crime, they find Iceberg pretty badly wounded and a feminine-looking mask on the floor (Robin?). Until a translation is done, I can't comment too much on this. They just seem to be discussing what the hell has happened. The scene shifts to Franky coming back to his house, only to find it utterly destroyed. Franky is visibly agitated by this and will no doubt seek vengeance on those who destroyed it. The chapter closes with Franky throwing off his mask to reveal.....a silhouette of his face! :P Looks like we might finally get to see Franky next week, though.....

We got a movie in today... movie five? Something about a sacred sword.

I just know it's supposedly got a short teaser of a Sanji/Zoro fight in it, so I'll be watching it tomorrow. :)

Alrighty, borrowed the movie from work. Not bad subbing from the HK folks, though Nico Robin was "robert" for some reason. Anyway, here's the gist:

The crew talks about a seven-star sword that's supposed to be a great treasure, one of the biggest on the grand line.
Zoro leaves the ship after a dagger is thrown at him with ZORO carved in the handle.

Zoro does some stuff that doesn't exactly jive with the other Luffy pirates, so we see Sanji v Zoro
Or rather, we kind of see it... it's a very short scuffle that ends without really diving into it (plus in a movie centered around Zoro, of course he's going to come off as strong)

Long story short
there's a guy who was a childhood friend of Zoro's, and he is possessed by an evil sword. So Zoro crosses the Luffy pirates to try and help save his old friend
and that's the basic premise of the film.

There's a lot of RPG-ish cliche in here like
placing sacred gems in altars to help protect from evil, and enchanted sword, etc
, but the movie is still a fun ride. Some cool bits with Usopp and Luffy together, Sanji doing his heart-eyed swooning, good fight bits, etc.

4/5 imo
