Ahhh! The manga continues to heat up. This should be fun once they begin to animate it (which is very soon, obviously, since they already have some of it done in the new opening, and also since it comes up soon after the fairly short DavyBack Fight).

As for the subs, I don't mind them releasing the rest of Arabasta as it is, but I honestly wouldn't mind them skipping right past all the filler and jumping into Jaya/Skypiea right away. If they were really hellbent on subbing everything, though, I'd prefer they just put the filler on the backburner and release it as a batch file at some future date.

Well, to some extent Skypiea itself is filler. Elements might carry on into future manga chapters, but it really is the single most isolated story arc in the series, which kinda sucks considering how long it goes. I admit the battles are pretty entertaining, though.

I agree with your idea; with a 100+ episode backlog, skipping the real filler would a great idea, since simply getting past Skypiea is going to take an eon at the rate we've seen in the past.

And besides, everybody needs to see the Davyback fight. Luffy and Usopp's costumes are priceless.

Yeah, Skypiea does seem a little odd. I admit I only know so much about the arc, though, as its the one major arc I've tried to keep my hands off of so far. I haven't read either Arabasta or Skypiea in the manga, and instead skipped ahead to about where Aokiji shows up. So, I know a few details, but I just wanted to save the arc so I'd have something to look forward to in the subs.

Still, it looks as if there is some poneglyph or "true history" stuff going on there, but not much else beyond that. It'll be nice to get out of the sand for awhile, though. :)

Not really "soon" I guess... 122 probably tomorrow.

I'll finally finish finals and before my future is destroyed in the coming weeks I'll watch One Piece 91-121/122 as fast as possible. I think I'll re-watch 90 first.

:D

Hmm...a LQ version of the new chapter was released today.

Not much seems to have been revealed, though. There was some fighting with Kaku kicking Zoro's ass and at the end, Lucci was turning into...well, something. Its silhouetted. But all of the characters acted VERY, VERY shocked. Its like Franky all over again....people are going to be speculating all week on who or what he turned into. The most logical idea so far is that he's a Zoan fruit user, but I don't really see how that would surprise the Straw Hats so much, considering they've SEEN Zoan fruit users and even have Chopper in their crew. ITs either something VERY powerful that they haven't seen before or its something/someone powerful they HAVE seen before....who knows?

Edit: Also, all you people not reading the Water 7 Arc...whenever you do read it, or whenever K-F gets to sub it (likely be over a year from now, of course....) you're in for an absolulte doozy. So far it beats the crap out of just about any other arc plotwise (there's awesome character development, too...though nothing quite as dramatic as Nami in Arlong Park...yet), even Arabasta.

I had to pause the episode when Luffy sprung a leak. :lol

Crocodile's double-take there was priceless. Right up there with the Family Guy Optimus Prime situation.

Water 7 is definitely the most unique arc so far, but it really isn't old enough to consider it the best; the fights haven't even been figured out yet. The Arlong arc has the great fights, plot development, tarantino strut, and even the premiere of the Usopp Hammer.

*still in disbelief that Viz reissued all OP volumes with Zolo instead of Zoro

water 7:

there's still so much going on even at this stage.
franky
still has to figure in somehow and you know he's not going to be taken lightly. that and the resolution of
usopp and possibly robin
plus there's the aqua laguna that still hanging around. i think the twists and the characters in it so far are awesome. coolest heal group yet. nah, ever.

You have read the latest chapters haven't you? Franky used to be someone named Kati Flahm (there's a lot of debate over the actual spelling/pronounciation of his real name) and was another of Tom's apprentices, like Iceberg. This basically makes him more than a simple ship dismantler. He's at least a good a shipwright as anyone in Galley-la. Either way, Iceberg didn't have the real blueprints to Pluton, Franky does. He's DEFINITELy a part of all of this. :)

I really want to know when and who is the next Shichibukai to face. Hopefully, Water 7 does get one. At least we're getting more of this ancient history thing.

It took about 110 episodes, but One Piece really kicks ass now. Wish it could be this good all the time.

manga:

I find it interesting how the "good guys-bad guys" completely switched roles in this arc.

And let me just say that I still think Franky is going to join :P
If you have noticed, Luffy's crew is filled with "the potential to be the best of the best" - ie. the best swordsman, the best doctor, the best cook, and so on..
Unless they start talking about Paulie's shipwright skills - it wouldn't surprise me if Franky joined their ranks.

Besides, Paulie's design reminds me too much of Smoker. Borrrring.

I wanted the square nose guy to be the crewmember :( He was so cool at first.

Btw did they ever reveal who saved luffie from being beheaded by Buggie? that guy with the tatoo on his face, who controlled the weather.

What? Kaku is STILL really cool (square-nosed guy), he's just not a good guy anymore. :) Still badass, though....

Also, the guy who saved Luffy was Dragon. And, unfortunately, that's pretty much ALL that is known about him. I don't think a peep has been uttered about him since Luffy and co. escaped from Loguetown that day. Needless to say, though, he's no doubt extremely important and extremely powerful as has some relation to Gol D. Roger. But, hey, we can say that about a few other people, too. :)

i thought about that as well... everybody on his crew has a dream and so far none of the arc has been revealed to have one. i betcha, whoever gets a flashback scene will be the one they get.

or oda could just be getting tired of this formula he's been using since the beginning...

Cobra discusses him at a world council meeting, in the Holy Land. Supposedly he's a radical revolutionary, who is against the world government, & the Shichibukai. Dragon mentions something about "the world is waiting for our answer" in Loguetown so he's probably leading some sort of uprising against the world government.

Hopefully, we find out more about him & just who are the sixth & seventh members of the Shichibukai.

Actually we do know a small something about Dragon. Apparently he is a revolutionary that the government see as a huge threat.

YAY! I finally caught up with One Piece.

32 episodes in 24 hours. My head hurts. @_@

:D

Anyway I was wondering if I'm the only one who DOESN'T like the idea of nico robin joining the crew? It still hasn't happened but it's we can see it in the new opening. She's an evil creature, that women. :(

And too powerful honestly. Who the hell can counter those growing hands. o_O;

I guess she can be just a victim pressured into doing what she does. The story with her destroying a whole marine fleet at 8 years old must have something else behind it. There has to be some goodness in her dammit.

Oh and anybody notice they’re starting to make some connection with luffy and Gol D. Roger? Kurahel seems to recognize Gol D. from luffy’s picture, and nico robin asked luffy why the “Ds” (dees) or something keep fighting… I’m guessing the "D" in luffy’s name stands for the same thing as the one in the (former?) pirate king’s name. Hmm…

Yeah I was thinking about the same thing with the D's. I'm not sure if its explained more in later eps or in the manga, as i've only read until the end of alubasta.

3 hours to episode 123.

Depending on circumstances, it sounds like this might, in a worst case scenario, be the last episode we get until next year. I guess that's why they pumped out the last few so fast. Sort of an "we don't know how many more of these we can do for a little while so here's as many as we can give you."

1.
Zoro doesn't like it either. It seems likely we won't get the true story behind Nico Robin until sometime in the water 7 manga arc (currently ongoing), so until we find out one way or the other, it's entirely possible Robin is a short run character like Vivi.

2.
If you think Robin has strong powers (and indeed they are), wait til you see some other elemental fruit users...yikes.

That's similar to the going theories, but no info has been leaked as of yet. It's as much or more of a mystery as Dragon.

It would've been nice to see off Arabasta before the new year, but I guess the silly season can take its toll on even fan subbers too.

I guess its not such a bad thing because I won't be at my computer over break to watch any new episodes anyway. But this + two double issues of the manga coming up is going to SUCK for One Piece fans.

:lol

What a hilarious way for Luffy to get out of that.

And where in the blue hell was Zoro at? :lol

This whole 5 episodes for 10 minutes business reeks of DBZ, though.

Just saw 13 of the dub, and my pure, virgin ears have been violated by the absolute, horror that is UH-sopp's VO. I can't believe how bad it is, it's just so out of step with the actual character.

His voice makes no sense, he's not some whiley old, British guy with a goofy accent. He's a bratty teenager, with a shrill, sharp voice FFS@!

123 was a pretty good episode. This arc is getting a bit too dragged out though. >_>

Luffy is too weak to go against Crocodile. How the hell is he going to be the pirate king? It could be that crocodile is just too powerful, but he's only one member of the Shichibukai (I wonder how more powerful pirates would deal with crocodile's sand ability. Unless they can turn into water it's pretty tough. O_o).

Too bad there might not be new episodes soon. I think it's time for me to download the manga. XD

To be honest though I'm not sure if it's because I want to know what happens next or because I feel a bit disappointed after getting back to One Piece.

That was awesome. :lol

Meh. The only reason the arc could feel dragged out is because of the filler episodes inserted into the anime in the middle of the arc. Without those, the pacing would've likely been much better.

Also, a DF user who can turn into water? I wonder how that would work. :P They'd probably drown in themselves.

IIRC Devil Fruit users don't have any problem with water, just the sea where they lose their powers. Whoever eats a "water fruit" won't be able to use his power in the sea and will drown like any other person who ate a Devil Fruit but outside of it there should not be any problem... I mean people with the powers of the devil fruit do shower, right? :p

It’s now the arc and One Piece is finally becoming good with all the action and plot twists!
Its dragging when everyone is standing in one spot ogling each other doing *gasp* emotes for 20 episodes.

Everyone has died about 2 times so far and that is good stuff right there

Chapter 349 came out last night.

Well, just look at my avatar! Yeah, I know, I know. Its a spoiler, but its just too badass. Well, basically we find out what Lucci turned into at the end of 348. He's a Zoan Fruit user - Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard. And he's a HUGE FUCKING LEOPARD. However, he's even more powerful than your average Zoan because of the way in which he trained his body. He's to Zoans whay Crocodile is to Logias, in other words he's in a class higher than your average pirate/DF user because he really trains his abilities. Basically, you get to see him wipe out all the Straw Hats in about, oh, 2 pages. Luffy? Down. Zoro? Down. Chopper? Caught under some rubble. Nami? Captured and injured. Usopp? Sitting on the Going Merry. Robin? Still EVIL. Sanji? Well nobody knows where the hell Sanji is, meaning he's planning something, has gone off investigating on his own, or is about to pull some Mr. Prince action. This arc just kicks so much ass, it brings a tear to my eye!
