Spore will revolutionize gaming

I also remember thinking, but not saying it out loud, that Vita would destroy the 3DS sales-wise

I have to concede I was wrong about patching.

I thought the ability to patch a game would just encourage lazy coding and a "ship now, patch later attitude". It kind of did, but nowadays patches are essential because bugs have become far worse in nature and frequency. You can't do without patches today, especially with bugs that wipe/corrupt save files and/or make the game unplayable.

Skyrim is my new favorite game of all-time.

That was me about 70-80 hours in. The honeymoon has ended, though. I still like it a lot, but FFVI has since regained its throne back.

Final Fantasy XIV retail will be waaaay better than the beta, they called it beta for a reason, all the stuff will be patched day 1, if not, it will probably be patched within the first month, ffxi had a crappy launch too I heard.

That i will buy an used one in 5-6 years for less than 100$ or will not buy it whatsoever.

We're in the same boat Wii really dissatisfied me it didn't have half as many games that I wanted or that I expected it to when I happily got one in early 08. Sadly it soured me on Nintendo as a brand, as the company I grew up with. At least it had Punch-Out, Mario Galaxy & Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

When I was a Nintendo 64 only consumer I convinced myself that "DD64 would come soon and with it the system would had tons of RPGs".

Yeah, good one young me, thanks for wasting my time (fortunately I snapped out of it when FF7 arrived to Europe and bought a PS).

That 3DS is going to be the most amazing handheld ever. I bought at day one, had it preordered for months beforehand and I was absolutely ecstatic about the AR features and was looking forward to Zelda OoT. The thing that I thought was going make it so good was the 3D. My mind was blown by the glassless 3D and I was genuinely very excited about it. I thought there'd be 3D movies being released for the console, since Nintendo kept pimping out their partnership with the likes of Disney.

...then the 3DS launched and it had an awful screen, was hard to hold for long period of times, the 3D on most games was disappointing and there were (and still aren't) any games to play on the system. I remember being annoyed at Vita fanboys whenever Resident Evil: Revelations came up and they were always saying that it was gonna flop on the 3ds and Vita was gonna get the port. Right now I've done a complete 360 turn, seeing Vita as the viable handheld platform (notwithstanding its sales)

I stand by all my opinions.

Even my opinion towards FF13 and that it was going to save the franchise and be a great game.. It uh.. It saved um.. It was a uh..

ok so maybe i don't stand by ALL my opinions and maybe i have a little regret for saying that. OK OK.. I deeply regret saying that and feel ashamed :(

I regret holding these opinions because in most cases I ended up being disappointed at how most of this turned out:

Pre-launch I expected the Wii to fail terribly and almost wipe out Nintendo. Shortly before the launch and for about 2 years I expected the console to garner a lot of high quality third party attention. I bought a new PC in 2008 and let it rest.

Around that time I also believed EA had finally turned good when they released games like Mirror's Edge and Dead Space. I was 100% certain that they were the good to balance out the evil of Activision. How wrong I was.

At the beginning of the generation I was convinced that Capcom had hit the ground running with Lost Planet and Dead Rising. To me they were the perfect blend of Japanese and Western design philosophies and I thought they'd create many great AAA games that would sell great on HD consoles. Dark Void, Bionic Commando, Lost Planet 2 etc. happened.

Similarly I thought Square-Enix would be a dominant factor in this generation. Final Fantasy XIII and the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis looked really special to me and were the games I was most hyped for. Conversely, I expected the Eidos acquisition to be a terrible disaster. In the end I enjoyed the Square-Enix Europe games a lot more.

Miles edgeworth investigations 2 will get localized
megaman legends 3 will be lots of fun.
Megaman universe looks interesting...

:/

aka the opinion that capcom cares about what it's fans want or the opinion that those were locks to come over ><:

That the PS Vita would finally see the success its predecessor missed out on.

Okay, maybe that was a foregone conclusion in hindsight.

Here's a new one - that Sony will last long enough in its current form to see PS4 through its full cycle. Actually, never mind. I don't want to see them go the way of Sega, I want them to prosper and keep bringing us really expensive premium electronics - but you gotta admit, it ain't looking good.

Maybe this isn't where the thread is going, but I really wish I liked Call of Duty. All of my friends play it, and they seem to have so much fun, but... no. I just can't get into it.

I bought a Vita month one, being sure Sony would be here to support it at E3, with huge announcements...
If I could get those 250€ back, I would have bought games.

MGS4 will be worth buying a PS3 for.

Wish I could go back and slap myself silly.

Same here.

MGS 4 is one of the most boring games I've had the misfortune of playing.

Terrible writing, lackluster gameplay. Besides, I was not impressed by how it looked after seeing Crysis Warhead the same year.

That 3DS is going to be the most amazing handheld ever.

I also thought plenty developers, especially Nintendo, would put more effort into their 3DS games given how good Beyond the Labyrinth and Revelation looked. Way off base with that one.

EDIT: I'm going to love Catherine.

Capcom 5 is going to bring a good 3rd party big hardcore AAA games support to NGC, so it isn't gonna be like with N64.

After this the only Nintendo device I bought was a DS. I don't expect to buy another one until things change A LOT. Something that I'm pretty sure isn't going to happen with WiiU, which is going to loose 3rd party attention once they shift their focus to next gen.
Bayonetta sure looks like a crappy game >:(
Same here, looking at the first videos was really boring.

Oh, here's another one - "Surely Persona 4 Arena will come out in Europe in a timely manner on PS3, and even if it doesn't, it's region-free, right?"

You cannot imagine the massive pillars of salt for that one. Fuck you, Index.

Still gonna buy it, God help me
