Orange is the New Black - Season 2 on Netflix - *Spoilers for all of S2*

Not as much as a murder. People get the crap beat out of them all the time in prison. I would assume she wanted to get Red's guard down and then attack, that's why. That doesn't mean she doesn't still see Red as an obstacle. I don't want Red gone anyway. Games of Thrones is great, but not every show has to be like it.

I don't want Red gone either, but I do lose a little respect for the writers when they throw away a character's motivations and make them act purely to serve the script. Since without the attack, everyone wouldn't have turned on Vee, so they needed it, but were unwilling to follow through with her character and have her kill Red.

I understand why they did it, but I lost a bit of respect for them all the same.

I liked S2 and this show a lot.

Has the focus on black characters hurt the ratings? Ya know, 'merica being racist and all.

The only things I was a lil worried about was that Vee would have killed Red... I dunno if the show would have recovered from Red's death tho, so maybe that's why they held back?

I have no idea how popular Red is with everyone else but I know it would have put me off the show at least some if they did that (I like Red and I really think the show would miss something without her). Even though I agree that it would have been more believable for Vee to kill Red (and it was unrealistic enough I had to try to suspend disbelief that Red got lucky). Though honestly it was also almost as unrealistic that Red trusted Vee's sudden turn around after trying to kill her too. Not only was Red written as a pretty intelligent if sometimes trusting character (that might have worked if Red hadn't had experience with Vee's ability to act charming when she really didn't mean it), but she also had full experience of how charming Vee can be and convincing. There's no reason she had any reason to believe Vee wasn't doing the same thing all over again. She was smart enough with experience that her suddenly believing Vee is not believable, even if she tended to be trusting sometimes.

Finally got around to watching all of this. Still a ridiculous yet entertaining show. Maybe not as good as the first season since it's mostly more of the same, but still fun.

Honestly the show lost me when Vee didn't kill Red. That's so dumb.

That's a hard thing to overlook. I guess they were trying to make it that Red wasn't a killer, no matter what.

I have to say though-few shows final scene have made me cheer like when Rosa hit Vee.

I don't know what the timeline between Daya's arrest and her coming into prison is, but
does anyone else really believe that Bennet is the father of the kid? I'm pretty sure the drug dealing boyfriend is the father and this is all an elaborate plan to make a prison guard pay for the baby and to use this leverage to get preferential treatment in prison. This is set up when the boyfriend drug dealer comes in to visit.

That may be the next revelation. I'm not sure.

After marathoning through the series, I think this season is weaker than the first.

I could see that happening, but I hope it doesn't. I liked Daya in the first season and I want her to be a better character in S3.

Yay, all done, all caught up, just watched both seasons 1 and 2. I think I liked season 1 better between the two but both were good. I liked the character insights giving insight into society as a whole. I don't think I would have taken too well to the season 1 cliffhanger, having to wait so long, for the events that transpired in the first episode because during ep 1 of season 2, I was like, "GET ON WITH IT" and so irritated that it was all Piper/Alex and no other prisoners.

I liked Vee at first but just like the other characters, her image was broken down and torn away into something villainous. It was painful to watch Crazy Eyes be so manipulated by Vee and then in tears at the end. I'm glad we had more insight into Poussey and Taystee and that the two managed to become friends again.

That has not occurred to me but would make for some more drama and a kind of "whoa" moment. Even with it in mind, I'm tempted to think more like Daya doesn't realize it herself and maybe just assumes it's Bennett or keeps it from him that he might not be the father if she knows it could be either of them. Then again, they did make mention of the fact that he (Bennett) did not use a condom.

That would essentially betray Daya's character.

That's something her mother would cook up but for her to go along with it wouldn't make much sense.

Why is this show in the Comedy category in award shows? It's not really full on comedy, it has funny moments but I wouldn't consider it a comedy.

If you love me, you'd go to prison for our baby. I'm in jail, why are you allowed to be free?

All this and more on the next episode of INSANE DAYA RAMBLINGS THAT OCCUR EVERY DAMN EPISODE

More of a comedy than a drama imo
And besides the comedy category would have much weaker competition, and in the drama Netflix already has House Of Cards anyway

She is just horrible. All over.

Hate every scene that she has any part to play in.

Daya doesn't really know who is the Father. She didn't even realize she was pregnant. She thought she had the flu.

Daya doesn't know yet. Daya's mother is doing everything. She is arranging it all.

lol this really boggles my mind. Go to prison to prove you really love me, oh great so the kid can have two jailbird parents?

Just finished the season last night. This show is so good. Loved Piper chewing out Polly and Larry. "oh lets go visit piper and prison and tell her, things are going so well for her"

Started to hate Vee very early on. I didnt like the control she tried to bring along, especially through violence. And being rude to Rosa, c'mon shes a freaking cancer patient.

is that forreal? sounds so fake. the netflix head sounds like a dumb ass bigot here.

plus isn't this the most successful netflix original? (after arrested development's new season of course)
It's fake, the whole website is a hoax.

Heard some family members passing this off as real at a family get-together on Saturday, knew it was fake then too but couldn't convince them otherwise.

Thank god. That quote about Oz and shit had me convinced it was bullshit. It's basically an unfunny Onion.

More successful than that, more successful than House of Cards and anything else on Netflix. Netflix ain't pulling the plug in any way, shape, or form.

What's the general consensus on Alex Vause in here? I really hate the character, but apparently she's really popular on the Internet and has quite a big fan base. :/

It's just because she's hot. The two lead white actresses have the most boring story. It's like they're on a different show.

The Polly subplot was truly awful and ripped me out of the show hard. I felt legit fear that this show was already going full backend of Weeds at that point.

I passively watched this show while my gf would hijack the TV every night for a few weeks marathoning it.

I legitimately lost my shit when pornstasche came back with that music playing and the slow motion. So good. Easily my favorite character, even if he is a total loser.

Highlight of the series from what I saw. Followed closely by drug dealer lady getting plowed over by cancer lady. That was hilarious.

Anyway, decent show I can see why people like it so much even if I probably wouldn't watch it much myself.

I like her alright, namely her voice and frank attitude. I prefer her when she's not having Piper drama.

Just finished it. Was a satisfying season throughout. Vee was an incredible villain, although her death was a bit anti-climactic.

Morello's flashback was incredible, probably one of, if not the best, flashbacks in the series so far. The reveal was so unexpected, and yet made complete sense and made me feel stupid for not putting it together earlier.

Piper also seemed like nothing more than a glorified supporting character this season, something I'm a bit conflicted about. On one hand, I find the other prisoners far more interesting than her, so it's nice for them to be in the spotlight, on the other - it just feels weird for the show to toss aside it's primary character.

Nikki remains the GOAT

1. I don't think Vee is dead... she maybe in a similar situation as Red.
2. Yes, Nikki is really hot too, she and Vause are... hot hot HOT.

I really like her character and the actress who plays her. My reasons aren't noble though; I think she's really hot and I love the fact that she's a lesbian. I liked the actress in That 70's Show too.

Agree with everything apart from the last sentence.

Piper is supposed to be the main character but the show could easily go on without her.

On a related note surely there's no point of Larry anymore?

Loved Vee, great character and the actor who plays her is amazing. I thought her 'death' was stupid though. Seemed like they just did it to play up to viewers as apposed to her getting caught by the guards and sent somewhere else.

Also didn't like the fact Suzanne turned into a lap dog, but I can see how it makes sense with her having someone to look out for her and understand her even if it was Vee manipulating her.

Best part of the season was Morello, totally unexpected but made so much sense.

The MVP of the season was Yael Stone (Lorna Morello) in my opinion.

Yael Stone is too good.

Just want to add that Morello KILLED IT this season.

Best part of the season was Morello, totally unexpected but made so much sense.

What i want for season 3 is more Morello and 100% less Daya.

On the bright side though Morello was brilliant this season. Easily still my favorite character on the show. Her flashback episode was just incredible - that bomb at the end where we find out why she's in prison just blew me away.

<3 Morello

Yes, I like the story and the flashbacks better this season, especially the focus on Morello.

I feel the same way as you guys. Yael Stone does a great job with the Morello character. Easily one of my favorite characters on the show.

I was totally hoping for a Figueroa arrest and then incarceration in Lichfield.

I just recently got into this series (Thanks to the lovely Lavern Cox), and I binge watched it for about one week straight.
I was hoping that she would be arrested as well, but she basically got what was coming to her so I wasn't peeved about her fate.

Edit: I really liked Morello's back story. I didn't expect her to be such a nut; the red herring (mail fraud) in her pre-prison history caught me off guard too.

She, Poussey, and Sophia have had the most interesting back stories so far imo
Speaking of Sophia, I hope she's not regulated to the background in S3; I often forgot she existed in S2 until they cut to her salon.
