My hope is once you reach a decent MMR you'll start to be put with and against people of your skill level so games are more even instead of the stomp or be stomped situation we see in Quick Play.

To the people complaining about dumb teammates? Why not play with friends if it bothers you so much? Seems kinda silly to expect a certain type of player when u are playing with random people all at different interest levels and skills.

Yeah, this is what I'm banking on. The community is already starting to turn and I can only see this adding more rot.

You guys are crazy if you think competitive mode will make the game less toxic, it's going to go the opposite direction. Anyone with experience with mobas should know this. You put a bunch of people that already get salty about losses and now put their rank on the line, ya it gets ugly.

i look forward to having the entire competitive queue population blocked in my battlenet account after every single one of them tosses out the "gg ez" in game

I know.

I was agreeing with a post that said that the community would become more toxic.

Can't wait for people to spout out what ranking they are and explain how much better they are then you because of it.

Mute all, go with the flow of the game. Works for Dota 2, although Dota 2 has pings to give you some context of what's going on. But that's what character voice commands are for anyways.

I have around 20 people on my friends list. About 10% of the time are 2 or more of them on at the same time.

I'm not planning myself or someone else's social life around playing a game with them. I go to game nights to be in person with people, but scheduling Overwatch time makes it less enjoyable than playing with bad teammates for me.

I know it's an odd outlook, but I really hate "scheduling" my gaming time after I get off work. It's great to play for 20-30 minutes and get a couple matches in.

Toxic is becoming such an overused word to the point where it's gonna lose all meaning soon enough.

I'm trying to imagine people hearing trash talk during sports and going "wow this sure is toxic".
Trash talking generally is a toxic attitude in these games. It doesn't contribute to a positive environment hence the term toxic. Just because you hate the word and what it means doesn't change the behaviour from what it actually is.

For people playing solo on Ps4, do you ever hear people talking? I've played about forty hours and can count on one hand the amount of times I have heard anyone communicate. Starting to wonder if I have turned some setting off by accident.

Anymore console balances?

Not yet, but I'm sure more are coming. I'm betting on an eventual nerf to any character that is super agile. On console, their survival rate is amplified because of the poor aiming controls of their opponents. Characters like a good Genji, Tracer, or Lucio have much higher survival rates on console because of warping around, jumping around, whatever maneuverability that makes it difficult for controller players to get a lock on them to kill. Bunny hopping in general becomes an effective tactic on console more than PC due to this. Bunny hopping junkrat tires have a very high survival rate on their way to target as well.

Basically compensation for shit analog stick controls will probably be made balance-wise to the more agile characters and abilities.

In the first week there was people talking. Since then, rarely. I quit wearing my mic because its fucking useless - people don't listen. "guys we don't need 3 widowmakers, we're escorting the payload." Nothing

I have high hopes for competitive play on PS4. Is there any sort of barrier to entry? Level 25 or higher or something like that?

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!

Getting 6 people on at the same time is a lot easier said than done. I have around 25 people online on battlenet at a time with about 10 playing the game and each will have different friends and groups they play with. Sometimes with me, sometimes not.

For the most part I haven't come across a lot of really obnoxious behavior. Yesterday I got a pissed off guy asking if it was the first time I played Genji because I didn't handle the turrets well enough for him and he saw me mistime my ult twice. Just left. It's a team game and I don't need someone on my team acting all pissed I didn't perform to his standards.

I fear that the wonderful, actually kind of supportive and fun experience I had playing Competitive on PTR will be replaced by "gg ez like ur mom" all over the place.

That said, cmoncmoncmoncmoncmoncmoniNEEEEEEEEEEEEEDit

For you.
Neat. Wonder how I'll do?

Maybe that can be a new spray.

I'm really confused on how this mode works.
So when we first launch the Competitive mode and have to play the 10 games to decide rank, do we have to do that alone? Or can I have a group of friends play those those 10 games together?
Also, let's say I'm rank 50, my friend is rank 60. Are we allowed to play together? And if we can, does that mean my rank 30 then brings in 30-40 level players?

I would think it would become less as those people would move to competitive play while quick play will be for people that just wanna play casually

Blizzard has said that if you are playing in a group, everyone must be within 30 ranks of each other, so that the MMR can work as intended.

In my experience, this happens somewhat often.

The loud mouth random jackass on the team sees you do your one or two fuckups for the entire round and he'll either bitch at you over text or on his mic.

I'm kinda worried that competitive mode is just going to make this behavior even more common as players seek to take their frustration out on everyone else.

No they shouldn't. Not every character should be sitting on the objective.

Thinking about it more, each hero should have different things that are weighed in one when determining your rank. Lucio & Mercy for Heals, Reinhardt for Damage Blocked & Objective Time, etc.
