The Starter pack includes any PS3 game that Sony published and a sale is a sale because you are not forced to buy Uncharted with the PS3.

personally i think the new startet pack well sell pretty well even at a 499 price tag because the value is pretty good. Anyway europe is sony land total for the next gen consoles.

Still too expensive, as I suggested in the other thread, taking out the Sixaxis and selling it for 450 € would've been the better idea.

Just ad a "now with crossbows and Wii zapper support" and we could've a winner at hands.

On a serious note I was just suggesting that they stick with another franchise - making such a game would be pretty awesome. I pictured just that when I first heard about the BiA port for Wii. Gestures for squad control would rock (like in the movies - yay).

I guess you're being sarcastic here. Don't have any numbers at hand but I remember TR being the big thing back in the days - of course the series went downhill but I don't think that can neccessarily be linked to Uncharted failing.

I´m actually not. While TR is definitely declining, it still sells like hotcakes compared to games in other genres.
It honestly puzzles me why Uncharted doesn´t sell here.

Ah OK, sorry then. Man reading GAF for a while sure makes you paranoid :lol .

It lacks the boobs I guess...and despite a big ad campaign there wasn't a lot of buzz around the game. Other than that - beats me. For the US I could see the lack of appeal (not "edgy" enough, lack of big muscles and surplus of hair, adventure elements, female sidekick looks normal and not like a pornstar).

Nope. Just as before, Starter Pack comes with 2 games included inside. Thats for all countries in Europe except for UK where you can pick your games. Since they are included, they are not counted.

In UK, you pick games from the shelf and then they are scanned through and indeed counted...

Playing the troll card quickly I see. I just wanted to point out that its mainly PS2/Wii/DS that make it onto the console charts. The userbase of the PS3 isn't big enough yet to support Uncharted when there is also games like CoD and AC available.

edit: uncharted finally on the german charts - awesome! The game deserves it.

Seriously, AC received a lot of hype prerelease and I remember that there were plenty of ads and tv spots. You can hardly argue that AC was badly marketed.

TR also has a big following among the PC crowd, since Uncharted isn't available for PC this would to me at least partly explain the lack of awareness for the game.

Perhaps Tomb Raider sells because it's awesome.

One of the most trolled and downplayed franchises on GAF recently. Goddamn forum could at least have the civility to wait until the trailer / release / demo.

Don´t sweat. TR will always be The Original to me and thus a day one thing, no matter how bad the current iteration actually plays out.

Sales wise - since it's selling so well in Europe, and not so much in the US - and Mass Effect is selling so well in the US, but not so hot in Europe....I'd say Uncharted is about 300,000 behind Mass Effect. Both over a million.

yeah but is the taste so much different? I mean mass effect did not have an kind of impact over here, even the videogame magazines did not push it and totally ignore it. Seems like the idea behind the game is just too american. I cannot judge because i never played the game my self.

It's quite puzzling that, except UK and France, Uncharted is starting to show up in the charts only now. It's been out for a month and a half. Word of mouth ?

Now since we don't have hard numbers for SW sales, it could be that it always sold pretty good, but there were games during its first month that sold better, ie it doesn't really sell much better but is charted now because other games dropped.

Thoughts ?

You mean retailer ones ? Because the new starter pack will be on sale in a few days, and I'm not even sure it will be sold in countries other than Spain and Portugal. At least, we never had a confirmation, did we ?

Correct. PS3 didn't really have any presence in the UK until the holidays, and its best performers were multi-platform games.
