Persona 5 Famitsu details

Yeah, I'm not really understanding the concern, myself. I mean, let's read it again:
I can't see how this hints at an episodic format at all, aside from the crime drama reference, which is directly about the plot itself rather than delivery format.

I'd laugh if the game universe has a Featherman episode that shows them fighting the team (kinda like that "Theatre" episode of avatar:TLA with abridged versions of the cast)

I'm playing my first Persona game right now (P4 on the PS3) and am enjoying it greatly. I am now beyond excited for Persona 5!

I'm guessing I should play Persona 3 when I'm done with 4, right?

I am actually starting to get pissed of now since the a game with a Hollywood actor and and multi-million dollar open world game with licensed music out the ass,and bigger than most games i care for, that is called Metal Gear is somehow being compared to this JRPG game. Like seriously are people actually trying comparing the story of Phantom Pain to THIS. No comparison you are gonna make will not be nonsensical.

I haven't taken time off from work to play a game in a long time, but I might take a week just to immerse myself in this.

dude. what.

Maybe the VNs like SonoHana sure, and maybe even anime like K, but manga wise? No way. There are a lot of LGBT writers writing /drawing LGBT stories. Just because they don't pop up on Crunchyroll or Batoto or where ever doesn't meant it doesn't exist.

Like, actual non-bara, non-erotic stories written by gay men for gay men? I can't think of a single one.

I'm not sure what you point is.

Also, does anybody know if we'll be able to play P5 in NA with the language set to Japanese? I feel like that would be the best way to experience the game.

Then please explain why the comparison is incorrect.

Welcome to the Carnival of Picaresque Stupid.

These Dunce Caps are fully deserved then, they tell more then just one's inability to guess dates right maybe even more people should be awarded one.
All these details are really making me feel it right now. I hope you guys won't be disappointed if we can't fulton enemies to our mother base though.

Will I be able to set the text to English that way?

You'll want to pray that hong kong and the Chinese territories get a japanese dub with english subs version. Chances of a japanese release with english subs are so slim i'd rather put money on the lottery than bet on that.

The game will still have an overarching story, so it's probably more arc-based than strictly episodic. Which is expected if they're going after different targets each time.

....Your version of a 'conspiracy' seems rather flawed.

The game's slipped twice now, in large chunks of time in both instances.

Hashino's explicitly said that he wanted to add more and more things to the game since it's a 'new' debut in terms of the PS3 (and now PS4), and he wants fans to get the most out of it.

Meanwhile, Kojima has been known for similar styles of delays.

In terms of taking my comparison and making it into a 'conspiracy'.....lol.

This is the point i am not understanding you guys. The big project that is metal gear v plaqued by konami being konami and Kojima being perfectionist and wanting stuff in the game that has a scope that is to me not exactly comparable to the budget of a more stylized game like Persona. I don't understand the comparison at all. The sparse story sections in Phantom Pain and then the huge amounts of dialogue, anime and not anime cutscenes in persona are not in the same section of my mind. Like what is the similarity other then a japanese developer is making the game?

That makes me sad...

Edit: Why can't we have options? We all like options, right? Guys?

Can anyone take Metroidvania post i quoted and explain that to me, i need to know how multiple people can think that way.

I hate delays, but with all the loooong games coming out this year I think this is for the best. Summer should be a great time to play this...it's always a rut in the video game industry. Which completely baffles me by the way.

Most people are joking relating it to MGSV due to structure. metroidvania's post seems more like they are delaying the game because they are perfectionist, like Kojima.

Alright you guys are comparing a metal gear game to Persona which is not in the same style, genre, or budget range. Want to compare MGS2 or MGS3's technical competency with P3 or P4? I don't understand. P5 will be huge and much has to be done, but why is valid? How is it a comparison that makes sense?
edit:Right perfectionists. One with several orders of magnitude higher budget than the other, you can flatter the persona team, but let's not compare anyone to the crazy people at Kojima productions.

For pete's sake, what they mean by Omnibus is that instead of hunting "one killer" or climbing "one tower" like in P5, they'll be chasing a different "villian" in each dungeon. For example, one dungeon might be about someone who stalks people, and everything will be themed around that and they'll end up getting a character who has been stalked. They'll convert that guy and then that entire story "arc" is finished, and then on to the next villain of the week/month/arc/whatever

The difference between this and say, P4, is so incredibly marginal that I'm not even sure why they brought it up. It could be translations, but I'm almost positive that they mean "capers". Each dungeon is a "caper".

I'm sorry, but to what posts are you even referring to? You first response was to a post that only compared P5 to Kojima, due to their respective tendency to delay their games until they are fully polished. And from that you seem to have made some oddly specific conclusions.

So i just read (and watched it afterwards) that the trailer pretty much confirmed the 6th party member as a female probably voiced by Rina Satou.
(Voice heard in the trailer at the start before Morgana, and seen very very briefly when running down the Pyramid)

I'm sure this is already discussed here, so what's the take here on that? Confirmed?

I think it's most likely that's MCs evolved Persona.

I dunno, I don't see many parallels between Arsene Lupin and Robin Hood. Sure, Lupin was known for doing some nice things every once in awhile, but he mainly stole for himself, not for the poor.

It could go either way, but I could see the evolved versions of the personas getting mythological, like going from Arsene to Loki, the trickster god.

That makes me sad...

Altus US did send out a survey that specifically asked about how much users valued Dual Audio and if they'd be willing to pay extra for it. Means they are at least thinking about it. I think the the best hope is that they do paid-DLC for the Japanese audio to give people what they want, potentially hurt reverse-importation problems and help pay the license fees. With the insane VA cast of P5, I can imagine that doing dual audio might be an expensive proposition.

Also, people really think they mean literally episodic? That quote doesn't say that to me at all. It just means there will be multiple different objectives and plots rather than one central hook like Tartarus in P3 or finding the murderer in P4.

The funny thing is that barring a translational error, there's an interview in which Hashino says the game is 'pretty much complete (Link to Persona Central)

Hashino's pulling a Kojima.

This is the quote. 'pulling a kojima', is what i thought meant everything people have to say about Phantom pain and it's state in the fan community and not his tendency to delay things indefinitely. If you want to say they want to similarly going to perfect their respective games then i could get that, if those really are your only things that fit that description. I mean the notion isn't new is it? Games get delayed why shoe horn such a fact to a personality?

The Witcher 3 was delayed more than twice, and they said much the same thing, "we need more time for polish!". That game is more than complete, it's chock full of content.

This happens with any game that gets delayed. I wouldn't freak out about this just because MGSV was an absolute mess. The odds lean more the other way: teams that get more time to complete what they need often put out a better product for it.

All that said, keep expectations in check. It's certainly too early to give in to illusions of grandeur and simply assume something's going to be better than games we've already played. We haven't played it yet! It's guaranteed fact that a certain percentage of any community isn't going to like the newest game in the series.

Or of they become reformed over the course of the game, the Personas could evolve to reflect that. In later stories, Arsene Lupin worked to solve crimes. He could end up evolving into someone like Holmes.

Not that someone like that fits the themes of the game, it was just an example.

And comparisons to MGS are dumb. Every game has it's own set of circumstances.
