Is it...just me who stays subscribed to PS Plus for all the great deals and discounts during sales?
I think it might just be you left. I bought a year when sf5 came out and it was mortifying. They had done me on all fronts.

indie games are great. Would've rather had Enter the Gungeon or Necrodancer as opposed to NBA2016All that cash and they still give us indie games every month.
.
Wouldn't higher MAU mean an increase in subscriber base?I wonder what Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are at, these days. I would expect to see an inverse relationship.

Wait... Sony won over MAU too???

As much as we might hate it, thats alot of money they left on the table during the PS3 years.
It would be fumy if they did and still dont talk about it.

Now Sony make the MP free again and charge for the services which actually make sense behind a paywall, i.e. party chat, cloud and other stuff.

I don't consider it a good thing that they're raking it in via the online paywall. They followed Microsoft's lead and it totally paid off... for them.
Thats cool, but did anyone else see the shitty powerpoint slides they got in the report? Stock photos, everywhere.
XD
Itll be interesting to see if they surpass the PS2 sales. With the narrative constantly being that consoles are over (not that I believe it 100%), its hard to imagine them hitting that number again.

That seems pretty low. At most (and possibly less) than half of PS4 users can't play online multiplayer.
That's...kind of low, isn't it? I mean, even if it's just for the PS4 users. Cause then, that would be barely over half.
the paywall is a double edged sword. The psn wasn't even profitable having bigger revenues than Xbox live right before the psn hack.It isn't a good thing for the consumer thats for sure. A obvious and easy source of income for Sony though. They were smart to copy Microsoft in that regard.
Making online play behind a paywall has paid off for them.

that's actually the reason why some sort of subscription is needed and I'm sure Nintendo will do something similar if their service wants to have more features.
however, blocking the mp is not justified imo
It's a combination of not having internet & choosing not to pay for the service despite having internet.
It was the same way with Xbox Live on Xbox 360, despite Microsoft having a lot of 360 owners.
Is powers any good??
That's a cool $1b a year
PSN had 65 MAUs at PS4s launch, and it decreased by 5 million since then.
Shows how useless MAU as a statistic is.
Steam has like 120 million MAUs, but PSN alone makes more money in a single quarter than the entirety of Valve's estimated value.
League of Legends has 27 million MAUs, and only the GTAs, CoDs, and Clash of Clans of the world make more money.
So yeah, MAU is useless.
That seems pretty low. At most (and possibly less) than half of PS4 users can't play online multiplayer.
Yet games like COD and Destiny are some of the most popular.
40 million ps4 sold..wasn't this announced a while back ago ?

Is that right? Sounds like it can't be right.

I never look at those trash free games and I seldom buy digital games. The only reason I sub for it is the online game. I hate it. Now I need to pay for online gameplay? It's not like Sony is maintaining the servers.
Perhaps you should actually give it a look? There have been some amazing PS+ offerings.

Here's the 60+ million MAUs slide:
I haven't had PSN issues in a long time too probably when that extended outage happened. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky chosen ones. It's like an urban myth now that psn sucks, I've had way more issues with Xbox live in the past 12 months than I've had with psn, live shits the bed party wise etc
Regularly.
Is that just PS4 subs?
Or across all 3 platforms. Because that would seem incredibly low if all 3.

$50 * 21 million = $1.1 BILLION
All that cash and they still give us indie games every month.
I love how they were able to give us AAA games barely a year after launch with only 2 million subscribers last year.
