can't wait to pick it up after work. quick question though. it seems the EU PS Store has a lot more Move demos than the US Store. i'm sure this is because the Move is already out in EU but does anyone know if the US store will get more demos tomorrow or will we have to wait until next week?

Don't wait. Make the account for some EU country and download the demos now.
There are a ton of them anyway, so it takes time and when you are finished + have the Move, you can start playing/testing immediately.

EU stores don't have Raquet Sports, so I got that from the US store. wink wink EU PSN Users who did not notice.

I havet really been following the move stuff as I never was interested in wii type games.
However, I went to eb games during my lunch just to have a llook and became sort off interested. The bundle with they eyetoy was 99 aussie bucks which I thought was alright. Then I heard I need two more remotes, one with and one without directional buttons. That was going to be another 100 aussie bucks!
And then a game!
I don't think ill be getting move for awhile, not until there are some triple A type games using it, like last guardian

You checked wrong.
You only need one move controller.
You don't need the one with directional buttons.
You can use dualshock instead of the one with directional buttons.
You don't need to spend another 100 aussie bucks.

The starter bundle is 74 at Harvey Norman, get that plus a 59 dollar MOVE controller (the one with the bulb on top) from Big W and you're good to go :D
Oh and Sports Champions is awesome!

Talked myself out of getting one last night but walking past Game this morning has got me wanting it again, anyone know what bundles HMV are doing instore?

The controller is really comfortable.

I've just been briefly sampling each sport in Sports Champions. It feels surprisingly accurate and natural. If I punch left I spike the volleyball left. If I twist my wrist the bocce ball goes left when it hits the ground.

My entire midsection is sore from playing, so I gotta take a break from that, so I'm gonna install the demos and see what those are like.

Woohoo! My PS Move has arrived. Ok, so right now I don't actually have a PS3 to play it on and so can't play until tomorrow, but I've got the Move controller and the starter disc.

So far, I've pointed it at my dog and gone "pew pew pew". He seems amused.

Dunno, but what are GAME's like? Do they have any single controller+game bundles?

Can't wait to pick up my controllers tomorrow!!!

I have 1 Move controller and 1 Navi controller on pre-order along with Sports Champions.

If everything works well with my setup (sitting close to TV is my only concern), then I'll probably pick up a second Move controller immediately since it will be more fun for games that support 2 controllers, and it will make local multiplayer easier.

I realized tonight after reading the latest Game Informer mag I just got, that there aren't really any games that use the Navi controller yet. But...I'd rather have it now and then just set it aside for when games like SOCOM 4 and Killzone 3 come out since I'd assume they'll use it. Otherwise it will "feel" like I'm spending more when I go out and buy KZ3 along with another $30 controller. :lol

He won't be amused for long though.

Not sure they weren't open they just had posters up in their Windows advertising Move, I'm going out on my lunch break I'll have a look.

Does the beat sketchers demo have any of the challenges in it? Or is it just freeform doodling on the screen with no goal?

I've been curious about the challenges and the relationship with the music since reading Kotaku's preview.

Wait, this thing is out already? Pretty piss poor job by Sony of marketing. I had no idea.

Guess I'll pick it up, I have some coupons. Not really expecting much if Sony isn't putting some effort behind it. Sounds like MS is doing a lot more.

It just came out today in the US.

It's those European fellas that had the earliest launch date.

I'm not sure, but for the UK, Sony's marketing activities deliberately only start today.

The format-holder has intentionally avoided much pre-release hype, instead lining up a campaign that starts on launch day designed to reach families.

Damn Royal Fail, where is my NavCon... Grrr. And Zavvi still haven't seen Resi Evil.

It's really a shame that Dice couldn't patch in Move support. If they could I would buy Move day 1. I'm buying Move when a game comes out with Move support that I want.

I so want Move support for BFBC2 since it's my main shooter atm.

Dunno what's the best strategy for me. D:

I have a PS Eye, but I also have really slow internet so downloading the demos from PSN is a no-go for me.

Starter bundle + second Move
2x Move + game (which one?)
1x Move + 1x Navi cont (I'm left handed so usign the DS3 as a Navi would be horrid for me.

Help Gaf!

I'd be very interested in that also but i doubt it. Battlefield 3 would probably be more likely as it's still in development.

2 Move and sports champions. This eliminates any need for a navigation controller.

I ditched a navigation controller and have played all the move demos and games that are out currently, get the navigation controller later.

Is there any actual unique technology in the navigation controller or is it literally just a more comfortable one handed controller ? Like the Move wont ever actually use it for tracking or anything will it ?

You have to install the demos from the disc (they DON'T run from the disc) onto the HDD anyway, so maybe kick the downloads off before you go out and buy the pack from a shop :

The latter.

It's just a re-designed Half Dual Shock, nothing more. There is no rumble and no sixaxis functionnalities.

I'm picking Move up when Killzone 3 is out, I'm dying to play a good FPS game with pointer controls. I liked Red Steel 2 a lot, but it's the only good FPS I can think of on Wii. I did give Conduit a good chance but aside from the controls, the game did nothing for me. I just hope Killzone 3 turns out different than Killzone 2, it left me very cold.

Doesn't the Wii Nunchuck have a motion sensor though? For the Wii Sports Boxing in particular?

Weird if Sony hasn't included it - would have saved them from needing two motion controllers in The Fight.

Not really. The Fight is far more accurate with two Moves.

Monty Mole said:

How so? Everyone already has a Sixaxis/DS3 if they really need it. Most people are going to buy at least 2 Moves controllers anyway, and judging by all the Wii fiends out there, it wouldn't be strange for them to buy a set of four.

I wish you could somehow move the calibration boxes for Sports Champions in a two player environment.
When I want to play i.e. table tennis with another person (both sitting down and thereby not playing as it's intended of course ;-) ), the person on the right side of my couch has to cheat and calibrate to his/her left. It still works but you can't help to think something will be off for the player who had to cheat during calibration. Both people are clearly sitting in the Eye's field of vision, so I don't think it would be impossible to make the boxes a bit more flexible.

Played the RUSE demo with Move and it's suprisingly fun. But, fml, I saw the PC version and now the PS3 graphics seem vastly inferior to me. Still good implementation!

does a nav controller 'belong' to a move controller? They just look like separate controllers to the PS3 it seems.

so if you have two moves and one nav, and press left on the nav, whose input is being changed?

I guess it's to rely on the 1:1 controls offered by the Move Controller, and not only on gyroscopes.
And to sell more Moves actually ^^

The camera isn't super quality, I agree, but what sometimes can make it much worse is that it will calibrate the contrast/brightness of the picture to create optimal conditions for whatever it is tracking. If it is only tracking the light, then that's all it really seems to care about and the rest will show up worse than usual. If it wants to see more then it can crank up the sensitivity to light quite a bit, although the picture will never be great, and a 640x480 (resolution dictated not only by costs, but by USB 2.0 limitations) picture full screen on an HD together with pin-sharp CGI makes for quite the contrast sometimes.

It may be for this reason that Hustle Kings disables the video chat for online games when you are playing with the Move, which I thought was a little disappointing but understandable - I still hope that it would be possible to combine both, but I can imagine that the level of contrast . As the PS Eye also doesn't have a 'take photo at higher resolution' option, there is not much gain to be had from using that either.

I've been playing a few things with two Moves now - the Gladiator game is pretty difficult to get used to it initially. Same with Archery. I'm really impressed with the pointer smoothness of Flight Control HD by the way, that is one amazingly polished game. It's also fun to play with two Move controllers not just in co-op but by yourself, using one in each hand. The pointer in Flight Control is so smooth it somehow feels much nicer than even a mouse. I can't explain it, but perhaps it's the total lack of resistance against any surface combined with really precise input - not absolute precision, but relative precision, with really good mapping and accelleration. Like a perfectly configured mouse that hovers just above your table. It's a shame that Apple has an exclusivity deal with Firemint for Flight Control in the US, but clever people should be able to get it from the EU store if they really want it. Tumble also works well with two Move controllers. Neither Flight Control nor Tumble seem to care / handicap you in any way for using two Move controllers it seems. Not that it gives you a big advantage, but perhaps a small one in some cases.

I notice by the way when playing games that there are a lot of gripes in previews and early reviews of these games that are no longer applicable to the final product. For instance early impressions complained that you would need the DS3 for remote controlling and that you still needed pen and paper to draw, but in the version that I've played now that is no longer the case - you have a pointer option in the former, and a choice between drawing with the Move or a pencil for the latter.

Resident Evil 5 Move so far is a disappointment for me - that's not the Move controls necessarily though as right now the game is as boring to me as I feared it would be when the game was first shown. I still want to try it though, just for the sake of the Move controls and the co-op. Haven't tested yet if it supports two Move controllers.

Another random comment - since I have a PS3 in my study and it's hooked up to my 1650x1080 LCD which begrudgingly accepts a 1920x1080p signal and shows it very nicely (well, mapped to 16:10 of course) I've come to appreciate some games that support 1080p modes. I have to say that so far I am pleasantly surprised with 1080p support in general (more games I play support this than I expected, and I can always tell because I have to press a button to remove a warning selection each time I get a native 1080p signal). Most of the Move titles also happily support 1080p and some of these either partly native (surprisingly also including Sports Champions) or native all the time (Flight Control, Hustle Kings, etc.). Look forward to some more investigations later.

Yet another random comment: there are still a few XMB things you can't do with just the Move yet (like, say, the next page on your PSN profile or other stuff you'd use R1 or L1 for). Will be interesting to see if the next firmware update changes this. But at the same time for all the complaints about the 'simplistic' implementation of the Move controller for XMB navigation, it is still much faster for me most of the time than using the DS3. And overall, yes, the Move greatly enhances this game - only driving the car felt better with the DS3, and ok, drawing straight on paper is more fun too ;), but for everything else the Move is a big improvement over the card.

Yet another random comment: some of the online stuff is typical Sony - something like Start-the-Party should have had online leaderboards for example. Not for the global stuff - you'll probably have a lot of people maxing out at the same scores - but definitely for the friends leaderboards it would have given the game much more longevity. It's a very barebones game right now - but still a lot of fun mind you, and absolutely perfect for kids. As a showcase, it's not just the augmented reality that is impressive, but the speed is awesome. I'm really good at puncturing the balloon-fish for instance and that can be played at a really high pace once you get the hang of it. Same for the 'whack-a-mole' game, which is really 'twitchy' but the responsiveness is really terrific.

Overall the Move remains amazing to me and it will be a little while before I'll happily pick up the DS3 for anything again. Most of my colleagues who have a PS3 will get it, and once the public gets more aware of it (I do think awareness is pretty low still right now) I think this thing will start selling really, really well. I think Sony made a really good decision to get it out now. It should have just the right amount of time for word-of-mouth to do its work before the important holiday sales spikes.

Haven't tried Planet Minigolf yet - right now it doesn't seem very appealing to me, but if I find some favorable impressions I might still go for it.

I think anyone who has a PS3 should get this pretty much by default. It's worth it just for trying all the free stuff out there alone, and then I think even this early there is a game for at least 80-90% of people out there that will really click. For many this will be Sports Champions or Tumble, but others are really happy with The Shoot, yet others love RUSE, yet others ... etc.

good to hear that you can draw pics with the move in eyepet. We loved drawing on paper too, but it gets really fussy about scanning them. First you need nice thick marker pens (we went out and bought some!), then you need to leave a big border around the edge, then you need to hold it really steady and close. Managing all those things with a 5-year-old is tricky. Move will hopefully help with that.

How do you unlock the extra games in Start the Party? Have only tried free play so far to test the move out.
