Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

2) Is it just me, or should they have included some form of online play in Sports Champions, to help differentiate it that much more from Wii Sports/Resort/etc.? Even if just for Frolf and Bocce, (which I don't think are directly head to head, unlike archery, gladiator duel, and table tennis) I think online would have made a HUGE impact in the early Move sales...

I would have liked a variation of what was said earlier. I don't really care about online play but then again I always have someone to play with. What I would like is a special mode that really makes you go all out on whatever sport your playing and the Eye films you. Then others could watch you do your match with a smaller image of yourself actually playing and let others download it like SingStar.

I am gonna try out some Heavy Rain and then bed. I have a question for NeoGAF.

Does anyone here want to be on a Playstation Move Podcast?

PM me if you do, yo!

I can't get the Beat Sketcher demo to work at all. It loads up, the music starts, and it tells me to press O to continue--but at that point it's entirely unresponsive. Tried deleting it and redownloading it--same thing. Any ideas?

Same here, and probably for everyone else. I guess no one really gives a shit about this one. :lol

Also, I thought some of you guys mentioned a HR demo with Move controls enabled? I guess I misread that because I've re-downloaded the demo and it's still very much not. Bummer.

The hardware is great but they've done an half-assed job with the software launch imo. Thank god SC is solid because it would have been a disaster.

Re: Beat Sketcher not working

Go to System on your XMB and reassign the Move controller to controller 7.
That's it. Beat Sketcher works now, and iirc the Move will remember to be controller 7 even after a reboot. Not sure what the implications for the BD remote might be (which usually takes the #7 slot).

I didn't have to do anything to get beat sketcher to work, though I deleted it after like 1 minute. And I do have BD remote (in the form of the logitech harmony remote adapter).

It might seem crazy, but I think The Shoot would have been a great launch title and a great way to show off how fun it can be. I'd love to see Hot Shots Golf & Hot Shots Tennis get released with Move.

Hot Shots Bowling. Make it happen, Sony.

It'll be cool if MLB 11: The Show would support Move.

Fixed. Day fucking one if that happens (but sadly won't).

Your right, it won't happen...not on the console. I could see them doing a Hot Shots Golf 3D with Move support though. Maybe even a Sports Champions 2 with bowling.

Pardon me I will ask again since none answered-

So I am thinking of getting a new HD monitor for move and PS3. Any suggestions as to what I should look into the specs of the monitor for minimum lag contribution by the monitor (response time etc..)?

Its more important to get one with an HDMI input that is HDCP compliant. Other than that, I am sure most any will be just fine.

Sorry so why exactly has Hot Shots Golf 6 with Move support not been announced?

Hot Shots series has sort of collapsed this generation. They could get a resurgence, but TGS would have been a perfect time to announce plans for HS Golf and Tennis. Or even a HS sports compilation, even if coming next year would have given some momentum to Move.

I am afraid though, coming out of Japan, it will never happen, and instead we will see a more Westernized Move Sports compilation more along the lines of Heroes on the Move, but Sports instead. Ratchet, Clank, Sly, Sackboys, Modnation Mods, Jak, Daxter, Kratos , Nathan Drake and so forth in half a dozen sports done well. If Table Tennis and Frisbee Golf in Sports Champions are any indication, they can really do a lot of sports very very well.

I bought Hustle Kings and I thought I read a comment stating that you could use 2 Moves one to simulate your off hand. I can't remember who post that, but it is erroneous. Nonetheless it is a great Move game, I had to compensate the off hand with putting my hand on a table and simulate a real stroke. I just wish it actually used the pointer and was 1:1 so that you can actually aim like the cue ball was in your face, as of now it doesn't used the pointer at all.

For my first go round I can safely say the physics are impeccable.

ewwwwwww do not want, but i can see it happening.

Why would you not want that? As much as compilations like that are always joked about, I would love it. I'm still waiting for Nintendo to give me a Nintendo kart instead of just Mario Kart. If they made Sports Champions again with just Sony characters I would definitely buy it again.

Because these characters are each part of their own universe and make no sense being put together in the same game, except for the marketing people who see potential in exploiting their image to sell a game.

Sports Champions characters and environments look awfully generic but they didn't need other IP's to fix that, just more creativity.

Also, it's 3D. And the 3D is pretty good, though there's a little more crosstalk than I've seen in some games.

Seeing as Sports Champions recommends you step back about 6 feet (?) I don't know if a monitor would be a good idea. I use it on my 32" and first thing that came to mind when I was calibrating, was that I need a bigger TV.

That did the trick. Thanks!

do you have any impressions using the tv's 2d to 3d conversion with any games? Im about to get a 3d panasonic plasma but it doesn't have that capability and im wondering if its important.

Just FYI to anyone considering the PS Eye TV Clip:

It's awesome!

I got it from Amazon for $12.99. Thought it was a bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but it arrived today and WOW I'm impressed at such a simple device. :lol

It has adjustable heights to work with any TV, and each setting "clicks" so it locks in place. Then, there are rubber pads on all areas that contact the TV so there's no chance of scratching that kick-ass piano gloss finish, or any chance of it slipping and falling off.

10/10

that's great. Pity I don't get beatsketchers/think its fun/etc

What's to get? You draw things on the screen. :lol :lol

The only problem is that I tend to forget that I'm not drawing on a square/rectangular plane like I would be with a mouse and I end up forgetting that I have to deal with the arc of my arm and reach.

My TV is a Panasonic plasma--no such conversion. All the reviews I've read about 2D to 3D conversion say it's lame, but everyone I know with a TV that does it says it's a pretty neat feature.

Yeah, and it doesn't scale your motions at all, so you have to fucking move and reach to get to the far corners of the screen.

It's fun though. And it's the kind of thing my kids will fiddle with indefinitely.

Let's talk Heavy Rain some more- I have to say the addition of Move controls does complicate things a bit but it really feels much more immersive. I think I'm most surprised by how everything was completely translated for the new control scheme. I love love love that the glowing sphere changes color based on if you are attempting to do the correct button presses/motions! So many blues, greens, reds- colors I hadn't seen (call me frivolous, but it is pretty)!

I also think the Pull/Push into the screen motion works very well- it's a unique take on opening doors and such. Twisting the Move controller, placing it Horizontal/Vertical and shaking all take awhile to get used to but soon it feels natural. I like that conversation options are controlled with the Move button for selection- it's nice to point at a choice every now and then.

I'm not sure how I feel about pulling off quick actions- sometimes it felt like I was holding the right prompts and moving the controller in very specific directions, but I failed. I think after a good half an hour I began to get more accustomed to the controls and started pulling off actions seamlessly.

The last thing to note is that moving your character now is completely controlled by the left analog stick- this feels strange. Sometimes Ethan would be looking a certain direction and then would turn around completely; call me crazy, but I miss the racer-like R2 to move forward idea. Not a deal breaker, but a bit harder to navigate.

Overall, I'm very impressed. Quantic Dream really re-worked every command so that the player could have a more fully interactive gaming experience. I'm looking forward to replaying it yet again!

I saw Beat Sketchers as kind of a giant wall where you can draw and stuff. My friends and I were doing things from graffiti to giant murals and we had a pretty good time with it.

It's simple, just point the move upwards, and shoot a few times, like a pistolero :p Or you can shoot into the ground for a different special move.

Okay, I'll give it a try and hopefully it will work now. I tried shooting at the ground before but nothing happened....so I must be holding it in a wrong position. Thanks!

I know. I tried it few days ago and laughed off and turned it off. Today he tells me that he and his friends LOVED it and asked me when it's releasing... :/

Yay? :P

freaking casuals.

FYI

it comes out 28th octoberish.

my hate for this game is strictly based on rep. Didn't even bother to install the demo

Just think of it less like you're drawing on a piece of paper and more like you're painting a mural.

Just tried the Shoot demo again. At the beginning I was having problems with the move not working 100% and being slow, I also had a glitch where the pointer can't be moved anymore on the pause screen which forced me to quit the demo. After I found out you can change the position of the eye camera to up and down, I played around that a bit until it was right. Also I read in this thread that it's better to play with a dark room and watched the Shoot trailer to see how they're pulling the special moves out. So...after that the controls felt super responsive and it was lots of fun! I was able to duck, dodge and pull 2 special move much better now. I'm only having problems with showtime aka slow motion move. It doesn't seem to work. Does it not work if you're playing the game while sitting? My room is too small to stand :(

Trying doing this instead.

Is the eyetoy in the move bundle the same as the old one or is it a new model?

From what others are saying, it's the same thing. Nothing has changed or updated, unfortunately.

Yes, I can also see it now as well. Thanks guys, I'm going to give it a try :D

EDIT:

It works, yes! It wasn't perfect though but that needs practicing and getting used to the move. I really like the Shoot. This game is going to keep me company with Eyepet and Heavy Rain until Sorcery, Killzone 3 arrives etc.
