MGS Rising coming to the Vita
http://thesilentchief.com/2011/09/1...on-track-for-2012-coming-to-the-vita-as-well/

or is this site reliable?, but i'm guessing if Rising is using Fox Engine, it would be easy to port to Vita

huh? What ?? that's news to me,Megaton to me if true, there was supposed to be a KojimaPro session, didn't watch.

*goes of to look for more info*

This video was uploaded some hours ago and i hear japanese voices in the background, so i guess it is from TGS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnuYr_iTKto

Not too easy to see details, but it looks smooth to me, 30fps or 60fps.

EDIT: Another video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBt7rOfzrmo

No idea if it is old, but it has japanese text, so maybe from this year's TGS.

Both are relatively new , the first vid was painful to watch lol.

really? Rising isn't really a megaton game to me, just assuming it was in Fox Engine so this just confirms it, now MGS5 would be a megaton lol

but eh i don't think that site is reliable else it would be have been reported somewhere too

edit:
hmmm based on the original source

http://www.gpara.com/article/cms_show.php?c_id=27212&c_num=14

it looks like Rising is using Fox Engine? can't understand the Rising part though lol

edit: bleh, i just ran the part through babel

And as for the topic about the original title using new game engine [FOXENGINE] which is under development for PS3/PSVita announced in [SCEJ press conference] of the other day formally.

looks like that site was just mistaken

Yea, was reading though the google translation and it seems to be a mistranslation to me, Nowhere did it say Rising was going to be on Vita.

wondering if you guys know how well PSP games scale on the Vita. If there isn't a Vita specific remaster of FF Type Zero, obviously the only thing to buy is the PSP version.

The resolution of the Vita is exactly 4x that of the PSP, so they should scale better than DS games on the 3DS.

There is no scaling, it's per pixel, the PSV resolution is four times PSP for that reason.

EDIT: Beaten

so what would a psp game look like on psv?
At worst, slightly worse than PSP since the pixels will be bigger (1 PSP pixel = 4 Vita pixels), but they might end up looking even better on Vita because of the really nice OLED screen.

Edit: Yeah, DSiXL is a good comparison.

I bet 2D PSP games are going to look fantastic on Vita.

According to Kotaku, the system will come with a set of AR cards:

http://kotaku.com/5840599/this-is-not-one-of-the-six-ps-vita-ar-cards

It doesn't need them for some use-cases, but for others they'll come in handy I guess. They showed a supposedly very nifty track editing thing using cards during the keynote (i.e. virtual track imposed over real world, with points on the track tied to a card...move the cards to manipulate the track in realtime), but can't find a vid of that anywhere :\

I imagine it kind of like DS games on the DSXL, nicer, larger screen, but inherently lower resolution in relation to size (ppi).

But if the Vita emulator does render them at a high resolution, wouldn't the ppi for them become higher than on PSP?

Is it me or there is a lack of footage from Vita games at TGS?
We still haven't seen Ridge Racer in motion.
Btw I think that the Sony presentations and announcements have been lackluster, of course we don't know what's going on behind the scenes but they should have dropped a few big names of original games in development for the system (just like for the west they have announced COD, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed and their own titles like Uncharted Golden Abyss).

It would, but it doesn't do that. It's not HLE. As far as I know anyway.

I don't think there is any precedent for that, but yeah, they could render them at native Vita resolution (so the ppi would be the same as Vita games). Wouldn't count on it though.

They probably already announced everything they could. And there are original games like Gravity Daze, Sound Shapes, and Ruin, but all of them have already been shown elsewhere.

I'd love to see what that Assassin's Creed game looks like on Vita. It's supposed to be with a new Hero right? I wonder if they'll used Revelation's engine for that.

time to take my meds
I guess I got my question answered about the customizing the interface.

My stream didn't have a english translator so I had no idea what they were talking about. But it seems the screen with the two puppy dogs was a wallpaper or start up screen from coming out of standby or powering up.

anyways, good to know.

I wouldn't expect too much from it, it's an Ubisoft handheld game.

edit: oops, sry about that.

Those Kotaku pictures are now in my porn folder. Damn. I am so hyped after seeing these and the VITA in the Uncharted clip from the other thread.

don't forget that PSP games on PSV would also look a lot better in the contrast and scanline department, unlike the PSP2000/PSP3000 screens that each have their own issue.

i've yet to hear a bad thing about the PSV screen from anyone that's had hands on.

Which eventual games are you guys most excited for?

I can say without hesitation that I am most looking forward to the inevitable GTA games as well as hopefully some open-world RPGs.

The immense graphical capabilities and dual analog sticks now makes such open world 3D games truly possible on a handheld.

I really hope that the PS Vita becomes succesful enough to warrant the investment such games demand.

Someone used it for the exact same reason. When someone wanted a lime green vita.

I just posted again cuz it's awesome!

Don't worry, they'll just use Vita as a fourth platform in a 360/PS3/PC ecosystem.
Although I'll probably won't buy a Vita version if there's 360/PS3/PC version avialable too.

Game-wise Vita doesn't look that great to me right now. I'm interested in Uncharted (but pretty sure that it'll be ported to PS3 in a year or so) and Gravity Rush. But beyond that nothing really caught my attention for now.

Are we sure that PSP games will run in PSP resolution on Vita? Because that's kind of a downer. I'd buy a dosen of them off PSN if they'd run in Vita's native resolution.

Sony have never done emulation that renders games at anything but the original res. You'd have to optimise for each game, and they're not gonna do that for free. That's where 'Classics HD' comes in.

Yep, that's what I'm wondering about. Basically do I miss out on anything by buying the JP version of the Vita?

Are you sure about that? Dolphin and PCSX2 and internally render games at a higher resolution making them look much better. It's not impossible for the Vita to do it with the PSP, although it's up to Sony(and perhaps it'll introduce more trouble than it's worth)

Personally, playing PSP games with 2 analog sticks and a much better screen(hopefully no dithering) is enough for me.

Who's saying anything about "free"? I was under the impression that you'll need to re-buy all the PSP games from PSN on Vita anyway.

Honestly do people care that much about playing PSP games on there? There's literally one PSP game I hope will work, the rest I'm happy to leave behind.

I think it's great Sony have picked a resolution that means people get per pixel mapping, and they're going to do stuff for stick camera control etc, but it seems pretty pointless.
