I picked the Grass starter (Snivy) and got the Water monkey, and have beaten the first two gyms.

Yes. When you get to Castelia City (the big one with the bug guy in it), head north. You can access the initial part of the desert at that point, and Darumaka can be caught there.

I would love to have the Champion themes from both HG/SS and D/P/P on my ipod would make me such a happy camper. Maybe they could make it like a Club Nintendo reward or something? I'd say the best one is the LCD Pokéball toy, but that can be rather expensive and hard to find. My favourite runner-up is the foam Great Ball, but I'm biased because it's my favourite kind of Pokéball.

Yup, and of a few others, too. I love these toys a lot; they're a great value while being really cool.
