Anything that looks this good?

I'm currently playing through A plague tale: innocence on PC in native 4k and it wipes the floor with this stuff.

Sony's development teams do a great job with the hardware they have at their disposal but don't start a gun fight with a knife.

Nearly all of them tbh. One flower scattered across the screen using many instances of it is no longer a high quality rendering technique. It's easy. And the aliasing doesn't look good and neither do the flowers self-shadow. Nor are they using subsurface scattering. The clouds are just sprites with no atmospheric light propagation. That entire screenshot is just a nice artistic image.

And there are plenty of games that rival in-game cutscenes in all of PS4 games. Especially ones that render at true 4k/60FPS on the PC.

XSX only next gen. Maybe, just maybe discounted PS5 five years into the generation to play these five games that I really want to play.

I'll be buying a PS5 but probably not in the next few years. I'll wait for a slim version + 3 free games at $250 or less.
I still have a ton of ps4 games to go through once I'm done with my exams.

Sony for the quality.

Still want a lockheart but these last few days my hype for that has seriously died.

The only next-gen console that is being treated as one by its manufacturer aka the PS5. A no brainer.

Gamepass is on PC, on my terms (subscribe and unsubscribe as I please), and since Microsoft is literally giving me no reasons to get a Series X before 2022 that will align perfectly with my upgrade plans for my PC. By that time we'll have more affordable PC components and know very well how to emulate a Series X with off-the-shelf parts (specially the I/O problem that's incognito as of now on PC). I see literally no reason to own a MS branded console even in 2022/2023 when their exclusives start coming... unless the Series X is dirt cheap at discount or I get it as a chrismas gift (which would be a crime cause PSVR2).

PS5 day one at the moment as Spider-Man is one of my favourite games of the generation and I'm confident Miles Morales will be good.

Maybe XSX because I love Halo but the latest showing was weak and it'll all come down to how good MP is (as that's the most important part for me).

going with series x first as i have gamepass for 3 years so may as well get my money's worth. ps5 after about 6 months or may wait until black friday and see what bundles are available.

Wow what happened to all the X-box fans? Wasnt the last poll closer to 50/50? Surely Halo couldn't of changed things that much.

I guess the pendulum could swing a lot from here to launch again.

I can feel the winter console shortages already. It's gonna be rough landing any console of preference I think. Hoping for a PS5, though I do feel like I've been burned by early adoption from Sony a lot lately. Still pissed about PSVR 1.0 with no HDR pass-through.

Yeah but A Plague Tale is janky as fuck, AA and the gameplay is garbage. There are levels to this.

I have a powerful PC if I needed anything not available on PS5. It's a tradition since I bought PS1 to go to the next one, total dominance.

So PS5, then PS6.

PS5 for the eventual exclusives. I have no reason to ever own an XSX, but I actually give Microsoft massive praise for that. Their Xbox/PC co-release strategy allows me to spend $500 on their games on my own PC than waste it on inferior tech.

This poll is so much one sided.
I read often that this forum is biased towards Sony, but this is a thing that I read on many forums, maybe it actually means something.

PS5 looks like a more polished product with a clear direction of where they are going, so the choice is simple.
Also the fact that Microsoft games will come on PC too gives me even less reasons to buy the Xbox.

I skipped the current gen and was really looking forward to picking up at least one of the two new consoles, but neither have done a good enough job of winning me over yet. Gameplay improvements are key for me and neither did anything to show me the new games were providing anything interesting, Ratchet and Medium being the two possible exceptions.

I bought DMC5 and GTA5 on Amazon today, since both were on discount.

Amazon gift card balance dropped to 390. Gotta farm some more gift cards!

I am floored with how lopsided these poll results are. I'm a ps5 guy but I would have expected more support for Xbox.

No one's denying that PC's are more powerful. You're smart enough to know that, that wasn't his argument. Did you read the thread title? Did you see the voting options?

I did. And I made my own opinion in the thread. According to the rules, there is nothing wrong with that. People shouldn't feel like they only have 2 options this generation. There is a much better alternative 3rd and I'm promoting that option for the listeners.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

So you think there are people on here that don't know about PC gaming and all of its advantages over consoles?

Hmmmm...Ok

In the context of this thread, that is nonsense. Who exactly is committing to support "your PC" hardware - whatever it is at console launch - with fully compatible AAA software, guaranteed to run (because it has been QA'd for 1000's of hours) and software that will push that hardware to its limits for 5-7years?

Obviously it is a rhetorical question, because the answer is no one. Anyone remembering the graphics card they had when the Doom 3 Alpha demo leaked knows only too well that just running cutting edge (AA) games in the PC space can result in an entirely new PC being required, because the PC being open also means no one owes anyone anything, from a dev perspective.

The IO system in the PS5 - and most likely the XsX too - are going to see a lot of those PC casualties in the next 2 years, even for those niche people running a PC with higher specs than an Pro or X1X at present.
