Porn-Induced Sexual Dysfunction

I had some issues with this and greatly reduced my porn intake. It scared the shit out of me because not only was I struggling to get an erection, I didn't feel anything. Whereas I could watch porn/masturbate afterwards and everything was fine. I stopped watching porn/masturbating for nearly a month, and felt better afterwards. I still have work to do, and plan on trying to only watch porn/masturbate once a month if I can. I'm no longer in a relationship so I'm not having sex as regularly as I once was, which will make it harder.

My porn taste definitely became more extreme. I watch a lot of IR stuff, and bbc stuff. No crazy pain stuff though; I dislike really aggressive porn.

Good for you, good read!

So do you think it's caused by watching too much porn in your younger years?

Yeah I think that was the main issue for me. I started watching porn a lot of it before I attempted to have sex.

Man. 90% of what you've written has happened to me. The beautiful (not a brag; genuinely thought she was, which made it all the more worse/confusing) girl who became insecure, the progressively weirder porn, the thought that ejaculation during intercourse is fanciful at best, resigning oneself to not having children in the traditional way - all of it.

I actually gave Cialis a go and it worked, but I didn't get to try it out "properly". Basically, mid-business, she said she didn't feel comfortable doing this and that there was someone else... So, yeah. That was and still is pretty harrowing for me.

I think I at least need to talk to a professional about it like you did. I feel like I've already resigned myself to being this way; and in a way, I'm at peace with that. I like that I have my tastes. I don't consider them unhealthy at all. It's simply the way I'm wired.

What does get me down, though, is the expectations of the opposite sex in a relationship and my resultant obliteration of sexual confidence. I'd be very surprised if my SO didn't have worries constantly in the back of her mind concerning our sexual chemistry and the infrequency of it all.

I don't know I find the intimacy sex brings and the satisfaction after it to be much greater than what I got from porn. If you're willing to go a few weeks you'll definitely notice the changes and I'm certain that sex will feel better than you remember

So if I got this correct. Guys who spanked it to porn at a crazy rate had problems getting it up with real women, then once they stopped spanking it at a crazy rate their erectile/sexual dysfunction started going away.

Weird this took a study of sorts. Kinda thought this was obvious.

I've been realizing this is a problem when I'm just not getting the same satisfaction as before. Probably gonna cut back severely for a while.

I really don't think it is obvious unless you think of it in terms of cognition and brain plasticity (or something like that), and who the hell thinks of porn and sex in that way?

Honestly, I never spanked to porn at a crazy rate, probably like 3-5 times a week, but I definitely became desensitized to it and my tastes became more 'extreme'. So yea, I definitely think I suffer from this and had trouble getting it up with the last girl I was seeing. I could probably rationalize it that I wasnt really falling for her at the time, but she was attractive, it just didnt do a whole lot for me due to that whole desensitization thing.

So yea, I definitely plan on starting this whole cold turkey thing. I don't think it will be too bad for me since I doubt I am addicted to porn, but I certainly experienced a lot of the negative effects of this.

I mean repeated ejaculation and desensitivity to porn = erectile and sexual dysfunction with real women. It seems like a no brainer to me. Like if you're young or relatively young and you masturbate a fuckton to porn (and it gets increasingly harder...to get an erection). Then you meet a woman and you're having troubles getting it up, a lightbulb should go off or at the very least you should have a very solid theory as to why it's happening.

It's like going to the gym and working the same group of muscles everyday without rest then going out with friends and playing a pick up game of football and you wonder why those very same muscles hurt or don't perform up to par.

Looking back it should have been painfully obvious, but I never made the connection. Porn and sex just seemed like very different things, never really in the same sphere...which sounds ridiculous I know.

If you can keep a healthy perspective on porn and consciously realize that what you're watching is fantasy, that should take care of some of the problem, right? Switch it up with amateur stuff. I've never really had the problem of being desensitized to "normal" porn. Then again, I've never really liked the super aggressive and vile shit that you tend to see in a lot of studio porn.

Shout out to my NoFap bros. And RIP to the current and future generations that will grow up with VR Porn. You guys are fucked.

2-3 times a day and I'll never stop.

sometimes I even do it at work

If lasting longer is better than why is delayed ejaculation a bad thing? Also just don't masturbate for a couple days and you'll be good to go again.

Lasting too long to the point where your partner is having to wait for you to bust even though they've already tuned out mentally (let's not forget not being able to keep a constant hard on)... isn't better than being able to hold it back and bust when they are satisfied with the bisnass.

Jacking off to the Victoria Secret catalogue must sound like a myth or a joke to the current generation of 12 year olds that have access to 24/7 HD porn.

You know there must be one kid in each school that has an encyclopedic knowledge of pornstars before he learns fractions.

Is the 90 day reset for porn? Masturbation? Or both?

Porn, but the site says its easier if masturbation is put on hold or strongly cut back as well. I think it makes a lot of sense because I don't think your brain will 'reset' if you are wacking off to your porn fantasies, but simply using your imagination to do it.

I was having this problem back home in the U.S. I was watching too much porn and having sex regularly, and it was getting to the point where I would be able to get rock hard for porn but struggle for real women, most of them hot. But over the last month and a half I have cut down and it's worked wonders. I'm also in Japan now so that helps
;)

didnt look at any porn in february and so far in march. I think I am done with porn for good. I am a 30 year old virgin and i need to get my priorities straight. I should be doing something productive rather than sitting alone in a room searching and downloading obscure porn videos....fuck that shit bro

It definitely makes you last a lot longer, it's very rare to have a simultaneous orgasm now, and only certain positions will do the job. And that's on one tug a day.

So last night i tried to just imagine and it totally worked, for a while there i was worried i could only get aroused by myself with porn.

The first 3 weeks are the most difficult. I wish you luck.

Have you considered hiring a professional to ease you into the act itself?

i went no fap no porn for 30 - 35 days in Dec - Jan...and then have been so since the end of Feb not sure what day maybe its been 15 days by now...the dreams omg the dreams i can count on my hand how many times i've fapped in 3 months i hope the dreams pass the effect of them last well into the day... ugh.

Among those who recover, progression is surprisingly similar. Men typically report that after a few days of intense sexual cravings, their libido plummets and their penis seems "lifeless," "shrunken," or "cold." These "flatline" symptoms typically continue for up to six weeks on average, dependent upon age and intensity of porn use.

Holy shit, this just happened to me in the last few weeks and I thought I was just depressed as fuck. And it seemed odd because I've had depression on/off for most of my life and that never affected masturbating. This in turn made me depressed during all that time. But I think I hit the reset switch too soon at about 10 days. I knew about masturbating with a light touch, using your imagination and shit, but I never knew that one of the side-effects of not masturbating/looking at porn was that cold/lifeless feeling in your dick. This makes me feel so much better. I think I'll take the 3 month plunge.

I went for a month once a few years ago and I was an animal at the end of it.

Quitting porn is the easy part for me. It's nice when I want to be quick about it, but no means a showstopper (ironic, yes).

The hard part is not masturbating at all, even if it's just to the sensation. I'm also dating a super nice girl right now. I think I might be in love for the first time in my life. I don't want to fuck it up.

Update:
I havent watched porn for nearly over a month now since I've started dating my Girlfriend.
She satisfies me sexually in so many ways. Usually we have sex 2-3 times a week. And if for some reason I do need to get off, I can get off thinking of her. No porn needed.
Of all the previous girls I've been with, none have been like her.
I'm extremely happy that I don't feel like I have to use porn to get off anymore. It used to feel like it was the only way I could be aroused.

What the fuck?

IR...as in interracial and Big Black Cock?

LMFAO.

How on earth is that extreme?

It's a skin colour WOW, so extreme.

I played some extreme Soccer the other day, the opposing team had black people on it.

Fuuuuck this shit! Sounds like the worst and longest rehab period ever... and for what? An odd chance to get off with a person every now and then, risk of STDs, expenses that come with dating, drama, etc. etc.

I think Porn wins.

Sex
with deep attachment and eagerness to please
still wins.
Find the right person and you'll get far more than you give up.

I had the hottest girlfriend in the world and I couldn't get it up for her cause I watched porn before I met her.

Stopping watching porn and I was fine. But damn I had no idea that shit was true.

I have a different problem. I'm 23, my GF is 22, and I never have any issues getting it up when we're going at it (we don't do it as often as I would like, though), but I have very serious issues masturbating without porn. I don't even watch any hardcore stuff, striptease videos mostly. I mean, it's possible for me to come on my own without porn, but it takes ages, much longer than during intercourse.

Penises are weird.

Also, my first post on GAF. Tells a lot about me that it' s about porn and masturbation...

Ideally, you want to be able to climax at just your thoughts. Masturbation is fine.

Some people may been a break from it or so depending how strong the addiction is.

Stop watching those videos. Use your GF's body or women with her body type as your fantasy material.

I'm about to move in with my GF's parents as we are between properties, and they have Sky Shield on their internet. So I'm fucked.

This also means in about 3 months time, I'll have erections that could knock a door in.

I think problems can occur BUT everything is better in moderation. I myself COULD do it 3-5 times a day (10+ if really bored lol), in recent times I find once every couple of days is good enough. Sometimes I will go weeks without and not go through withdrawal symptoms.

I get to watch porn maybe once a month (I share a flat room with my GF, plus there's one more woman living in the flat, and I'm not comfortable jerking it to other women while my SO is around, and she's almost always around, so there aren't many occasions), and it's not with some supermodel ideal body type women, mostly amateur /webcam stuff. I don't need my porn stars to be midget amputees with Tourette's to get off.

Also, women breathing heavily and moaning is what turns me on the most. Don't have that in the shower.

Maybe that's just the way I am. Still, it baffles me that, ever since I started having real sex, achieving an orgasm through masturbation became much more difficult. It's like, my hand is not as pleasurable as a Varina, not even in the slightest.
