Kojima has been saying "I'm not doing the next Metal Gear Solid" since the first one, though. Shinkawa has never said he wasn't doing the next Metal Gear before, and his art is almost always (maybe always) the first piece of promotional material we see for a main series Metal Gear title. We've seen two pieces of art now, both high grade renders, which are not traditionally used for promoting new Metal Gear titles. If Shinkawa were involved in this one like he was in the previous titles, we would have seen Big Boss and Raiden in his art, not in renders.BigBoss said:I know what you're talking about, it was the same interview where Kojima said he wouldn't be directing anymore MGS games. We know that turned out to be false so if Shinkawa is still working at KP I don't see why he wouldn't work on the next MGS.
Either way, Shinkawa never said he wouldn't ever draw Solid Snake & Pals again. He said he was stepping down as the designer and lead artist. Again, it is very likely we'll see a piece of Shinkawa art in association with Metal Gear Whatever-this-shit-is but I'm not sure why people are so convinced that he'll be back in full capacity. He didn't create Metal Gear, it's not his studio, and as an artist, the reason he decided to step down as designer and lead artist is more than likely so that he could stretch his legs a little and work on something new. Kojima's reasons for sticking around are the exact opposite: he created the franchise, he runs the studio, he doesn't want to give up his epic series.
The only reason this was even brought up is because some dude was trying to break down why exactly they were using renders and making a huge deal out of it, and I just wanted to point out that it seemed that they transitioned to renders since Shinkawa is out (better to use renders than some completely new artist, as it would definitely change the tone of the promo materials). I think it's a pretty logical conclusion to come to... one of the only ones in this thread, I might add. :lol
