Possible Kojima Productions Reveal in Three Days?

Portable Ops leads pretty much directly into MG1 with Big Boss establishing Foxhound at the end of the game, etc.

Why would Gray Fox have Raiden's suit that wasn't developed until after Gray Fox already died? He also wasn't even a cyborg prior to Metal Gear Solid

Gray Fox theory makes less sense than Sunny.
It doesn't lead directly. Payton said on a 1up Yours a long time ago that they have a very big bible with numerous stories to tell. They could easily pick it up after and show Big Boss' further developing desire to have a place where soldiers are respected. This is really only implied in the very end of Portable Ops.

Heads up: In the new episode of Qore, they mention that a new Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops is coming to PSP. So, as speculated, MGS Next is probably multiple games.

Uh confused which is it?

it was quite obvious what. mgs po2 for psp and mgr for ps3 and 360. then the lord of shadows for ps3 and 360 too. you guys really think too much. :lol

Kind of what I've had my money on for quite some time now as one of the earlier what seemed to be more solid rumors posted here kind suggested such. Anything is possible though.

The guy in the interview just says 'a new Metal Gear Solid' is coming for PSP. No footage shown or anything. It's just an assumption about it being PO at this point.

He did that.. in Metal Gear.

I think the bible you're referring to was the MGS database released on PS3 store.. that thing pretty much covers everything in the entire series.

Squeezing in another game just opens up the possibility for more plotholes that MGS4 worked to close. It wouldn't add anything remotely interesting or provide a chance to see anything cool that we haven't already.

But whatever.. if there's a way to milk the storyline further I'm sure they could find it.

I just really think they should start a new story already and work from scratch.

I think a lot of people that'll be buying it initially will just be buying it for games. And there will be games like Gran Turismo that are going to be announced at E3, LittleBigPlanet which we announced before, and Jak and Daxter. There's even a new Metal Gear Solid coming.

.

Portable Ops 2 is going to kick ass if they use the same gameplay from MGS4 with the dual analog contr...oh wait. Hindsight is 20/20.

Still looking forward to it a lot. The first game kicked ass outside of the control annoyances.

No, I'm not. If you don't believe me, that's fine.

Oh boy I wonder how will this new Portable Ops manage to ruin the MGS plot this time.

Not like it's already FUBAR.

the controls on psp is not so easy but the level progresion and story is better than mgs4. :p

Couldn't disagree more. Level progression was non-existent and the way the story was told made it really boring (hand drawn cutscenes). I mean a mission based structure where you choose where to go next from a menu? Bleh that is not Metal Gear, and when you add those cutscenes to it it's really not Metal Gear. It's not just not Metal Gear. It's not anything fun. Kojima could change a large part of the series, but there are certain aspects of games in general that MGO didn't do that made it just average for me.

That being said who knows this portable Metal Gear could be awesome. But it's going to need more time than PO had. There are so many unique things about MG that just are not in Portable Ops and that just made it another game. Most people will probably disagree with me, but the main Metal Gear games are way above and beyond PO.

Not calling you a liar man, I believe you.

To be honest I would rather they just remade MG1 and 2 instead of trying to squeeze in another plotline between Metal Gear

yeah those Portable Ops cutscenes were crap.. hate that artwork.

I wouldn't be surprised if this new one isn't somehow connected to a MGS for the PS3. I can see them giving Micro MGS4 and the announcing a partnership of a new MGS for the PS3/PSPGO

its already pretty bad, but there's plenty of things kojima can do to make the series worse. all we can hope for is that kojima reboots the series.

Eeeexcelent...

That would mean two games and Kojima's Famitsu interviews seem to only suggest that there will be one game.

Famitsu's interview suggest that XXXX will be XXXXXXX and XXXXXX etc etc...

Big Boss looks shit young in the pic. It's definitely pre-MGS and after Portable Ops. Infact, Reports of Portable Ops 2 were out as early as TGS 2007.

That doesn't explain the cyborg ninja.

and i agree it seems silly to create such a high detailed image for a PSP game.

So my translation of the Famitsu seems correct. Anyone has the full thing damnit? I only got the part where it ends at "So true! HAHAHAHA!".

MGPO2 on PSP, with Big Boss.

Another MG game, not called Solid, set after MGS4, made by the MGS4 staff, currently being developed first and foremost for Japan but with a world-wide release, not to be released this year.

Also, for those saying the connection between MGS4 and Snatcher isn't 100%, well it is. As stated before, but in the Database there is an outright "Snatcher Project" entry explaining it and how
Big Boss was the first test subject
.

In MGS4,
when Snake is told that the Foxdie virus he carries has mutated and will make a biological time bomb killing millions of people, it was more than likely a way for Kojima to establish a precursor to Lucifer Alpha
:

On June 6, 1996 (1991 in the Japanese versions)[1], a chemical weapon known as Lucifer-Alpha under development in Chernoton, Russia, is released into the atmosphere, resulting in the death of 80% of the Eurasian and Eastern European population which in turn results in the death of half of the world's population. The contaminated area becomes uninhabitable for a decade, until Lucifer-Alpha mutates into a non-lethal form. This tragic event later becomes known as "the Catastrophe".

The Raiden-like character is definitly related. It could be Sunny, but I get another feeling from it because of the barcode on the head. It feels more like someone's outright creation, with the sentimental touch of the bandanna. A new Metal Gear Mk X of sorts for the good guys.

EDIT: The two heads are probably going to be the cover of the two games.

and.. it makes no sense.

theyve never promoted their psp and console games on the same site before.. they always had different sites.

Well, there WERE rumors that both games are inter-related and one will be the key to the other. It's easier to render high-quality and low-res it, not the other way around...

Prothero said:
Why create high-quality renders like that just for promoting a PSP game, though?

That's not promoting, it's just a teaser in a VG journal huh. I mean it's not like using 100% CG TV ads for games.

DemonSwordsman said:

Explain to me how that makes sense?

He was only a cyborg in Metal Gear Solid.. he wasn't when he was hanging out with Biggie.

Also it makes no sense for him to have the same suit developed for Raiden much later in the future.

ITs NOT NULL :lol

Null IS Frank/Grey Fox and he was turned into goo in MGS1. There's no way he'd be sporting Cyborg Raiden technology.

so there are two mgs games?

one for the psp and the other for the ps3?

fuck yes!
what makes you think there's 2 games? sorry i haven't kept up with the thread, it's kind of long.

BTW, if we play as Big Boss even during the MG2 days, it means at that point we play as
Snatcher Big Boss. It might be used as an opportunity to establish what might happen to someone when they become a Snatcher, etc. I think both games will shed light on the Snatcher project.

What the fuck? They added time to the countdown before it was even over. It was going to end about 30 hours from now, and now it's at about 52. What the fuck is going on?

yup. I second this. saw the video. Um, yeah, I'm not excited about the PSP product.

b) don't game on PSP much if ever... been collecting dust for MOnnnnntthhhhssss

Can someone tell me what the fuck happened to Snatcher Wii?
Kojima and Suda kept saying they would make it after they finished the projects they were working on, then starting new projects that weren't Snatcher.
