Just got the game today in NA, and I tried playing online and it told me that my version of PES 2010 is incompatible? What? I thought maybe I had to DL the latest version of a patch or something but nothing shows up under download...

This happened to anyone else?

Same case for me here in Mexico, i guess the servers aren't online yet :|

Will the WENB option file work on the American version of the game? Just bought it today and i want to update it.

I believe they are going to have an option file for the North American version up and running sometime soon. Their current one won't work, I don't think. Have you tried it?

I didn't try, a friend told me it doesn't work. Anyway hopefully the servers are online by midnight :(

I am rather confused as to which version of the game I got. The box says "PES 2010" and the rating is from PEGI. That is the Europe version, correct? The US version should be "Winning Eleven 2010"?

If it looks like this, it should be the UK version.

If it says Winning Eleven on the cover, its either the US or JP version.

The JP cover is pretty much identical otherwise.

US cover only has Messi on the cover I believe.

I was looking at my stack of games and I noticed that I have WE 2008 and I haven't played a proper football game since...I think I'm going to pick this up since I skipped last years version. Play Asia has the Asian version with my name on it!:D

Since the game is coming out in Japan tomorrow, I reckon there would be a patch on the way for the latest transfers. Fingers crossed.

Just wanted to ask, you can use the PSEye to 'scan' faces for created players on the PS3 version right? Thinking about trading in my 360 copy, bought it since it was cheaper but playing Winning Eleven without a dual shock still feels kinda weird. . .

Are you sure? Yet another cool feature that PES inexplicably drops? 2009 had it.

reached the third season in the master league. my goal from now on: winning all three titles.

I'm in my second season and sitting 12th in division 2 :( I have a 5-year plan in place, within that time I will be promoted and challenging for a Europa league place (I hope!) :p

So, I have FIFA 10 and I'm playing it a lot. I finished one Manager Mode season with Real Madrid, but I don't know why, the single player portion of FIFA doesn't appeal very much to me. I'm a WE fan since Winning Eleven 3 Final Version, but Konami simply destroyed the franchise for me after 2008 and 2009 (specially 2008, really, this is the works soccer game ever).

It's strange but I can't explain, there's something on Winning Eleven that It's better. Maybe the "home" and "away" thing that works so good. Also I love Master League (had a blast with it last year on Wii), so I really need to know if they changed a lot of things because this mode is exactly the same since WE 2000, and this is a bit frustrating.

I'm planning to get the PS3 version so I really need to know about the single player and of course the multiplayer because Konami loves to screw it up.

Thanks in advance!

ML in this years version has had a complete overhaul. You still start in division 2 but it's now 18 teams and not 12 or whatever the previous ones were. Then, there are 5 'major' leagues running at the same time - England, France, Spain, Holland and Italy. If, like me, you like to have leagues of random teams then you can do that instead of it being like in real life.

There is much more focus on the day-to-day running of your team. You have a coach, scout, youth team manager etc all of which can be upgraded. You can 'train' players in your team by allocating them specific skill points to certain areas. You also have a youth team where you can sign any promising players.
Champions League and Europa League are now integrated into the ML which gives it a much more realistic feel.

Whilst I've loved the ML in every version of Pro Evo, I agree that it was becoming very repetitive each year. This year however, is a vast improvement. If you enjoyed the ML before then you will absolutely love it now :)

The US version is PES 2010 but only Messi is on the cover. Winning Eleven is now a JP only title. Pro Evolution Soccer is now the title for EU and US.

Makes more sense as "Winning Eleven" probably gives 0 insight into what kind of a game it actually is.

that's a good summary. i love the new master league!!!

I like Winning Eleven better as a name, though I'm sure that's 100% nostalgia. I was like forward to Winning Eleven 11 for like five years and then they snatch the rug out from under me. :/

I still remember the first NA Winning Eleven title: World Soccer Winning Eleven 6: International

Ah, the memories. Actually, I thought the boxart that year was the best WE cover in NA to date.

Haven't tried out most modes yet, only played quick matches with friends.
Game's alright, they fixed the response time issues from the demo and some other crap.
Not a fan of using the same stick for movement and special moves, but whatever.

Here's hoping they update the game with transfers and so on.

If the master league is better, and the game is a bit harder than last year for the Wii verison, I might buy.

The more I play this game, the more I feel like people who think the game is unresponsive or too hard do not pass the ball around and probably hold down R1 all the time.

When you do not use the normal speed or L1/R2 dribble, the ball is usually not at the feet of the player, so their is a delay between the time you press the button, and when the player actually is close enough to the ball to kick it. There is no delay whatsoever if you keep the ball to the players feet with slower dribble.

I don't see why people would not use the slower dribble in 2010, as a slower dribble helps you keep possession and control, and gives your teammates time to run up infront of you to create room. It is so vital now to build up the attack from the back, and to use good passing in the midfield to move the ball forward. Turning in place and using your body to hold the ball is a key technique in order to keep possession just like real life.

People who instantly hold R1 and turn towards the goal expecting to always win with pace are going to hate this game. Not saying that pace means nothing, but the only surefire way to win with speed is to plan ahead strategically. Exploiting the oppositions formation, and setting up your play style sliders accordingly.

Player conditions is now much more noticeable, and adjusting the gameplan at the half can mean the difference between winning and losing. The impact it can make is very direct and apparent this time around, as defenders in bad condition or high fatigue will easily make mistakes or show a difference in response and speed. This is where you can exploit with precision to turn the game around.

Are there grids and stuff yet for editing on the 360? I don't think using the same settings and grids as I did in the PS2 is gonna work on 360.

Good write-up.

I thought this should be clear to PES fans? I struggled cause I used R1 all the time back in WE7/8. Once I understood how to play it, it became AWESOME (and I never looked back).

This coming from someone who needs help importing chants....

Your point? If I say that I was in UK's PESFAN finals twice (both the times I've signed for it in fact) would that help my cause? I don't think those things are relevant at all like you and doicare make it out to be instead, but there you have it.
Am i worthy of making a comment on the game now?
Blaburn, who has made this official thread, doesn't know how either (to import chants), so following you logic he should be barred from posting in this thread, let alone being the official thread's starter :lol

Since you mock me, it would be awesome if you could help me on the matter since this is the first time I buy a PES for the PS3 (always went for 360, PS2 and Wii).

It's not like I'm the only one talking about those issues either, it's a well known fact and even in this very same thread other have brought it up, maybe you didn't read carefully I guess.
But hey, go on being blinded by the fact you love the franchise (as I do), you're probably one of those guys who can't face the fact that something they've spent money on it's flawed :lol
What do you know, I actually prefer to see a game I love improving with each and every version relased and I'll help the developer bringin' up all the things I want to see changed.

goddamnit how can i get trophies to work with a custom OF? I've tried moving all my saved data to a new profile and then back again but it still comes up with the 'You did not earn a trophy' message. . .

I just loaded the WENB option files last night and played a few games. Got the "Last-minute winner" trophy without any problems.

All I did was copy the Edit Data and all the Jerseys/Emblems. Leave the System Data file alone. After copying them to my HDD, started up the game and loaded the Edit Data from the Edit menu. Then that's it, played a few games to earn that trophy.

You just need to delete the system setting data, then you'll be able again to earn trophies.

i didn't even copy the system file that came in the OF bundle, just copied the some 140 files and the edit data, then started a new system settings file from scratch and it's not earning any trophies. . .

I'm installing my PES2010 PS3 version in the HDD, does it make a huge difference in loading times?

I'm using the WENB OF, but it doesn't have Germany teams, only the Bayer Munchen... is there any other OF with all team? I have the UK version.

And chants, where can I get them?

How the hell does this negotiation thing work now? I have 3 players in the ongoing negotiation menu and I can't try to buy them or anything like that... and they are there for like 4 weeks...

And I don't know how to shot penalties too! My players ALWAYS shoot outside!

You have someone negotiating for you, when the deal is done he'll let you know and you'll choose whether to accept the terms or decline them.

Anyway, can anyone with the WENB option file post some Arsenal pics?

Not the WENB file, but using the same formula. Sorry about the poor image quality.

Quick question. I just started playing it and so far I'm enjoying it more than PES09. But ... is it just me or there still isn't a button to make your teammate run forward when you're holding the ball? Like in Fifa I mean, where you make players run with L1 / LB (I think).

Can somebody answer this, please?

Anyways, the referees are still a joke. They apply the advantage rule in the worst possibile fashion and for some reason the AI can get away with almost every fucking sliding tackle. After the fist few times I got taken down and the whistle wasn't blown I actually started systematically checking out the replays to find out if maybe it was just my imagination and the CPU was in fact hitting the ball. Yeah, it's not happening. Terrible. Also, I can't believe you can still get away with brutal sliding tackles on players who just gave away the ball. It's like they stop being considered human beings after they pass / shot the ball. It was exactly the same last year, but the funny thing is that a few years back the game had no problems delay-punishing you with yellow cards. Why they cut out this 'feature' is beyond me.
