PS+ version of Driveclub will have 5 tracks (1 country) and 10 cars.

Anyone who expected more was seriously deluding themselves. I'm sure a lot of money has gone into the development of this game and it would be silly to expect anything more than a few tracks and cars.

If it's good, I'll happily upgrade. Simple really.

Sounds like a nice demo if it wasnt going to take the place of worthwhile Plus content.
This, I could understand.

I could understand being upset that a "demo" would take the place of a full game. Like, we could have SS instead or Knack or w/e.

The content amount, though? You're not paying for PS+ solely for Driveclub. That would be nuts. Sales and other free games may have paid for the service already. It does seems like a 'deserving' attitude. Idk.

That's actually better than I expected.

Anyone who was expecting more than 10 cars and 5 tracks has probably been on the Sony koolaid for way too long.

OP updated again
For all we know, the full game has 40 cars and 15 tracks, so cutting 30 cars and 10 tracks can be quantified as "a few"
They were deliberately "vague" on the details in order to not promise a "vast amount of content"/
I'm fine either way, 30 fps means I probably won't enjoy it.

I wasn't expecting much more to be honest. It's a full retail AAA game. It would have been pretty weird to get most of the content or even half of it as part of PS+ considering what we have been getting so far as game of the month.
It's a bit of a bummer but understandable. If they delivered too much, a lot of the customers wouldn't bother upgrading or buying the retail version. And I hardly think the PS+ funds will cover the development for this game, especially considering its delay.
That said I'm glad I got the full version for 20€. I'm really hoping for this to turn out well.

I was under the assumption that it would be structured more like a restricted F2P title rather than a demo. But then again they were really vague with laying out the details of that initial PS+ version.

Good enough for me. I had the most fun with games like Rage racer NFS II or Tokyo Extreme. Who needs 500 cars and 25 tracks. As long as the gameplay is great and the tracks are interesting/diverse enough, obviously.

Wait..this is basically a free version? wow. I would've been ok with it for the full game.

Seriously, this shit is amazing.

Before PS+, this wouldn't even be a discussion. People need to get a grip. Expecting a full, brand new, AAA game for free is insane.
No, promising one was insane.

People aren't in the wrong because Sony told them they were getting practically a full free game. Moreover, it was due at launch. You don't tell someone to wait eleven months then under deliver.

They shouldn't have ever claimed we'd get it, or they should have been transparent about what it really was.

People are complaining about this...? You have access to all of the modes with less cars/tracks without buying the game. If you like the game, buy it with the PS+ discount or wait until it's on sale at retail.

There's no way a retail AAA game is going to give away 100% of it's content with no chance of selling the actual game. Bring those expectations back to reality.

It's not like of you enjoy the "demo" PS+ edition there isn't the option to buy and support a full version of the game. If anything I think this versions goal was always meant to sell people on getting the whole game or maybe dlc packs?

Yes, the PS Plus version will be the exact same as the full version, except that it may be missing a few assets such as cars or tracks, that will be found in the full version. However the online multiplayer, the asynchronous challenges and the single player campaign will all be present in the PS Plus version. The PS Plus version gives us to the biggest open community, day one. This game is all about socialising.

missing a few not cutting down to a few

I guess people expected the full game minus 1 track and 2 cars, lol.

The meltdowns would have still followed "FU Sony charging £49.99 for a couple tracks and a few cars"

I'm not sure why anyone cares anyway, 30fps is unplayable bad and will only make people vomit.

Honestly I think the scale and amount of content the full game features has been greatly increased since we'd last seen it, hence the extremely long delay. The bolstered budget and costs that come with delaying it for a year probably factored in as well.

I can understand why people are upset but at the same time it's easy to see that the Drive Club we'll be getting in October is a much bigger game than what would have been a F2P-esque launch title.

The best move all around would be to just make this an official demo rather than a PS+ game. Yeah, some people would still complain that they're not getting the full game for free, but at least this way, we wouldn't be losing a PS+ game for that month.

As it is now, it feels like we're getting a freemium game as the PS+ free game.

Get the fuck outta here. It was mentioned several times that the PS+ version would include a vast portion of the game's content, sans a few tracks and cars, plus, allow you to earn a platinum trophy. Either Sony has gone back on that promise or the full game is severely lacking in content

But please, shut the hell up and have a seat with this bullshit. People who use it nowadays barely know what the fuck it means.

What? I always thought it was going to be the full game but striped down, like a fifth of the content of the full game. That can't be right, why would anyone buy the full game if the PS+ version was only lacking a few tracks and cars and could get a platinum trophy.

Do you have a link for this or are you just paraphrasing?

To my knowledge, Sony/Evo never promised a 'practically full free game' but one that would be stripped of tracks and cars but could still be completed without purchasing the full game.

This was their way of making "Mandatory Playstation Plus" an easy pill to swallow. Oh yeah... You have to pay $50 a year to play Online on the Playstation 4... But you get fee games! Good free games! Like Drive Club, a $60 game is free. You get a "slightly" scaled back version! You also get Resogun and other games free each month!

5 tracks, and 10 cars out of the hundreds isn't "slightly". They should have never announced this as a "free" game if they planned on it being a demo from the beginning.

nonsense. a demo doesn't let you complete the game. do you expect companies to give away AAA games then how do you make money? they are giving you 25% of the content and letting you finish the game and access all the modes. people in here are expecting 75-80% of the game and then let suckers pay 50 bucks for the other 25%? jeez get over the entitlement people. you are getting a brand new game with all modes and you can compete it as well with just less cars and tracks so there is an incentive to upgrade for those that want more from the game or are enthusiasts. it ain't a charity.the plus service already provides a ton of value for the 50$ to be complaining about this.

...

Also worth noting that this was slated to be available on PS+ for several months, meaning this could in fact be all we get for months. Which is shit, frankly.

Aren't most IGC games available for a few months? I don't think that implies nothing else would be added. Older content is removed as new content comes in, but I think they all generally stay up for more than a single month.

I wouldn't have any problem with this. "PS+ game this month is ____, also as a bonus you get the Learner's Permit version of Driveclub for no cost!"

Not as concerned about the tiny amount of content compared to where they set the expectations, mostly because I was half interested in the game at best and not at all interested in it as a 30FPS racer. But if a beefy demo were the only content for that month's PS+, that would be awful.

leveling your club rank will unlock cars and all member of that club can use those unlocked cars.

I want to know if my ps+ edition can also use those unlocked cars if one of my team member actually owned the full game.

I expect to see the Miata, Civic, Leaf, xb, Prius, Fiesta, Accord, Focus, Yaris, and any other F-class, motorized shopping cart, econobox they can use to fill the space.

How did that make any logical sense in your mind? Do you think driving a Fiesta at 60 mph is going to sell the game? I guarantee at least two S-tier cars.

So missing 4 countries that each have their own set of tracks is a "few" tracks and cars?

Definitely incredibly misleading by Sony. Whatev.

...did I say that?

Your point was that one of the possibilities is that the game may be content-starved. If the number of tracks is equivalent for the other countries, then this is not the case.

C'mon. I understand that it was misleading to claim only a few were missing -- it was. But calm down with thinking that just because I tried to rationalize the amount of content in the game is supposed to mean that I'm defending their claims six months ago.

DriveClub is about high end cars. There's no F-class type of stuff in the game so the cars should all be pretty enjoyable.

Oh did they? That's awesome. Where did you see that? I'm buying at retail anyway so I won't get the perk, but it's a cool way to go about it.

It's in the OP :D
Second big quote.

Aren't most IGC games available for a few months? I don't think that implies nothing else would be added. Older content is removed as new content comes in, but I think they all generally stay up for more than a single month.

While that is usually true, the impression certainly I got was that it was going to be a long turnover game, like Infamous 2 and Uncharted GA that stay long term. That was why I assumed the game would be of some substance.

Another quote from last year:
Missing a few assets such as cars and tracks. That says that it will be missing things obtainable/usable, not that a "few cars and tracks" will be missing. At least, from my reading comprehension.

That min 2, max 12 item, though. Thats a real downgrade. Wasn't it stated it would have a max of 6?

Sounds like enough to me. (I am not a huge racing fan anymore)

This. Most racers bore me to tears. So even though this over-sized demo will justifiably disappoint some, it will probably be more than enough for me. Its probably my least anticipated PS4 title so far.

What do you consider "the full game minus a few cars/tracks"?

Does that automatically mean to you "less than half the total content"? Or "at least half the total content"?

Because the people who don't care about this/defend this think the former, while those who are disappointed think the latter.

I imagine that isn't what happened, but I imagine they claim exactly that.

"While the proposition of the full game is now smaller, the PS+ content is actually exactly as established initially, the additional development time just allowed the team to put together an even more robust complete package."

Something like that.

We’re making it easier for you to keep up to speed with what’s going on in your club as part of the rework on the dynamic menus. We’ve also tweaked clubs to support up to 6 players instead of 12 (because the game is more fun with tightly-knit clubs and it paves the way for awesome 6-on-6 club races).

Whoa, pretty content rich for what is essentially a demo. I remember getting demos with just one/two cars and one track and playing them to the point where I had the track memorized to perfection.

Good times, good times.

Anyway, a question, does this mean there's only 5 tracks per country or have they limited the number of tracks for the Plus version?
