PS3 up close - heatvents spotted!

I think it's pretty silly that GAF can argue for 4 pages about how a console looks. Of course, looks are subjective and everyone will have their own opinion, but it's obvious that a lot of these posts are more about "my console is better than yours."

I like both the PS3 and 360. I think they both look just fine and do a good job of representing "next gen" style. I hope Sony ditches the spidey font and just puts a big PS3 logo on it instead. The 360 looks kind of plane jane, but I like the idea of consumers customizing it with faceplates... or stickers if you are j. allard. In particular the blue faceplate is quite nice. The Rev is the weakest of the 3. I don't see anything inspirational about designing a box. Throwing said box in a slanted stand doesn't help.

This is J. Allard's 360?

talk about midlife crisis..

Silver is so-so....Piano Black is hot sex though......

I like the PS3 design (in black) better than X360 and about as much as Revmote..

One thing I really like about this is that if you use HDMI and optical you won't need to buy marked-up official cables. Hooray for monoprice.com!

I want HDMI cause my TV only does PIP with HDMI and a TV source...finally I can play games and watch TV AT THE SAME TIME OMG.

Dude, it's an ongoing joke over here as well. We cannot see Ben Affleck on tv without everyone busting out laughing. :lol

"Over here" is NY, but it extends far beyond that since I've spoken to family members in different areas (California, Florida, Montreal, Switzerland (wtf indeed!) ) and they all seem to know about it before I even finish bringing it up.

On that note, Daredevil was coming on sometime recently and everytime there was a fight scene someone screamed out, "Watch out for his balls!"

:lol

e3/tgs. Dont know what planet some of you are on but the PS3 design beats out the other two handily.

No it doesn't. The only good thing is that nice looking silver color. The Xbox360 is slightly better but the Rev trumps both of them.

You nay like silver? :(
May I introduce you to the backstory behind "silver".

http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=52732

This of course earned him (silver) the tag, "Put your head on my shoulders.. and your balls on my neck", but he has since been banned in an unreleated incident.. and thus has lost the tag (hopefully temporarily)

*edit*
I just read through that thread again and I'm still dying... :lol!

While I see one vent where is the other? The one where the hot air goes out?
If I were to guess, I'd say that is the hot air output. It doesn't seem to have cold air intake vents...

That would be as bad as not having vents all. It needs to pull air from somewhere to have air to take out through some where else. I doubt they would place vents on an empty shell for the heck of it so it has to be drawing it from somewhere else.

Same holds true if it were just an intake. The hot air wouldn't have anywhere to go making the system overheat much faster.

It has to be there somewhere.

I know, but there aren't any other set of vents anywhere on those models. You'll undoubtedly get the "it's not the final product" speech, regarding that fact though.

Uh...thermal engineering 101. Not even anything that complicated. Just as some of us took one look at the Rev packaging and knew it was gonna be a limiting factor in performance, you can look at the PS3 case and see cooling problems. It will no doubt have intakes low and exhaust high as has almost every case design since the ATX form factor. I won't say this is not the final product, but I will say that I am 100% positive the designers of the case have already figured out the cooling solution even before they ever made a single prototype. I expect intakes on the front or rear, with the side for the exhaust. That way you can put it on its side or bottom, and still keep low-in, hot-out configuration. The left side of the system can't have intakes since it may act as a base for vertical lovers. PEACE.

Actually it can, since that's exactly where the 360's intakes are with the help of some little rubber bumpers to raise it a bit. Which is also part or the problem in the 360's design and the reason why it's far better to keep the system horizontally.
And yet people don't listen. function over form people!

As for the rest of your post, I never said anything to the contrary. In fact I agree with you about the low intake/high exhaust guess, which is why in an earlier post I suggested that the visible (only) vents in the model were for exhaust.

I read your post wrong originally. My bad. PEACE.
