PS4 and Xbox One both have the best console launch line-up EVER

No Watch Dogs in 2013, no PS4 for me in 2013.

AC IV is nice but I guess the 360 version is fine as well.

The launch-lineup of the Xbox 360 was pretty amazing back then.

I do wonder if people who say they preferred the PS3 launch actually owned a PS3 Day One.

The PS3 was a fucking disaster out of the gate. Even if you only include multi or cross platform releases, the PS4 launch shits on the PS3's from a huge height. The PS3 had nothing even close to FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 or Assassins Creed 4. And if you include first party I think Killzone and possibly even Knack are potentially shaping up better than anything at the PS3 launch.

Actually, now that I think about it, the only launch game I really am interested in is Killzone. I never cared about Killzone multiplayer though so I can jutst play that whenever I do get around to getting a PS4. Anything else I like either comes out later or also comes on current gen.

I have to agree with the original poster to an extent. No one can really say that console X doesn't have any games like a total fanboy. It isn't the greatest but really up there.

They're both decent. XBone's is objectively better as far as AAA software goes. PS4 is winning in the indie game department...where few outside of the hardcore give a shit about if we're being honest.

For me personally, only KZ and KI are interesting to me at all right now.

Getting both at launch, but don't be fooled.

PS2 had the best launch EVER.

Armored Core 2 (Agetec, Action)
DOA2: Hardcore (Tecmo, Fighting)
Dynasty Warriors 2 (Koei, Action)
ESPN International Track and Field (Konami, Sports)
ESPN X-Games Snowboarding (Konami, Sports)
Eternal Ring (Agetec, RPG)
Evergrace (Agetec, RPG)
FantaVision (SCEI, Puzzle)
Gun Griffon Blaze (Working Designs, Action)
Kessen (EA, Adventure)
Madden NFL 2001 (EA, Sports)
Midnight Club (Rockstar, Racing)
Moto GP (Namco, Racing)
NHL 2001 (EA, Sports)
Orphen (Activision, RPG)
Q-Ball Billiards Master (Take-Two Interactive, Simulation)
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 (Midway, Sports)
Ridge Racer V (Namco, Racing)
Silent Scope (Konami, Shooter)
Smuggler's Run (Rockstar, Racing-Adventure)
SSX (EA, Sports)
Street Fighter EX3 (Capcom, Fighting)
Summoner (THQ, RPG)
Swing Away (Paradise Golf in Japan) (EA, Sports)
Tekken Tag Tournament (Namco, fighting)
TimeSplitters (Eidos, First-Person Shooter)
Unreal Tournament (Infogrames, First-Person Shooter)
Wild Wild Racing (Interplay, Racing)
X-Squad (EA, Action)
lol no.

It had a bunch of good games, but nothing classic at all.

PS Vita. All's I'm saying.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Super Stardust Delta, Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Touch My Katamari, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack.

But that PS4-line up isn't bad either. Really looking forward to play Killzone, Resogun and Driveclub.

ResoGun

Agreed, Resogun looks amazing.

While only having less than half the games the PS4 has and a bunch of current gen to next gen projects that look like utter shit like Ryse

Every single thread...so wrong...in every single one. How does one do it?

Both systems launch with absolutely no Japanese game whatsoever.

That fact alone makes them a failure in my opinion.

Why would you expect there to be Japanese games? PS4 doesn't come out in Japan until next year and Xbox One doesn't even a release date there.

Ask in a couple years.

Looking back at ps360 these consoles seems to be better than them. Hard to tell until we play the games.

The problem is that there's nothing that really stands out for me. Like non of the launch games on either systems are going to set the industry upside down. I don't think any of these launch games are THE reason to buy the system. And it's a shame we have to wait until 2014 for Titanfall on Xbox One and the next Naughty Dog game on PS4

You shouldn't pick sides in a console war. Microsoft and Sony just want your money; they don't care about much else.

Both lineups are interesting, but I don't see any potential classics for either console.

The Vita had the best launch line up since the Gamecube IMO.

I agree. Loved the Vita (and GameCube) launches.

But that sentiment shows just how pointless the discussion is, really.

I think that longer "launch window" of the first 4-6 months has increasingly become more important. Second Son, The Order 1886 and DriveClub (by the looks of it, sigh) is pretty significant for Sony in that regard.

Come on, Dreams.

Even if you're right, doesn't that count? A bunch of good exclusive titles at launch across different genres?

For the gamecube all I had was Rogue Leader and I think Wave Race. :/

So what's your pick?

The only game I'd for sure buy is Resogun. Nothing super interesting from either of them. That's most launches though.

Yeah, the PS4 will definitely have some interesting games, to say the least, in the months following its release even though the launch line up isn't that appealing. Which is not the case as far as X1's is concernerd. Its line up seems a little more solid though.

Neither of the two consoles are very appealing this year.

I would have gotten the PS4, but even after looking at that list I'm only interested in Resogun and would probably get Killzone just to get a game.

I really wish Microsoft hadn't fucked up their messaging earlier in the year for Xbox One. I would be interested in Forza 5 and maybe Crimson Dragon and Dead Rising 3 even though I haven't played a Dead Rising game before. Plus I really don't want to spend money on another Kinect when I've never really used my current one.

I'm going to stick with my PC this year for indie games and maybe pick up a PS4 next year once they announce more games for the end of 2014 and so I can get Infamous.

I'll get Super Mario 3D Land on my Wii U.

I'm not even interested in any of the third party games this year, but will probably get Assassin's Creed 4 just for something to play. I'm just worried about how well games will run on my PC in the future. I really like high frame rates but I may not be able to achieve them in the next year.

I was interested in Watch Dogs and was hoping Drive Club would have been good, but oh well.

- The launch line-up of both the PS4 and Xbox One may be the best we have ever had.

The SNES launched with Super Mario World, F-Zero, Pilotwings and Gradius III; all four of which are loved, mentioned and remembered well over twenty years later. How many of the games in your lists will be remembered twenty years from now (I'm not speaking of the franchises, but these specific installments)?

Also, the N64 launched with Super Mario 64, and the Dreamcast, among others, with Sonic Adventure, The House of the Dead 2, Power Stone and Soul Calibur. Even other, less stellar launches, have been more impressive and memorable launches than the PS4 and XBone. In fact, ironically, this thread made it even more patent how utterly weak their lineups are.

I think people are delusional about these launches and just want to believe they're stellar, which is OK by me, but I don't understand the need to try to convince others. But hey, whatever floats each one's boat.

Pretty bland line up from both of them TBH. I am still interested in the PS4 but I cant see myself buying it at launch. Maybe in a year or so.

In terms of quality and quantity i agree, and ive owned most consoles since the NES.

However 95% of the quality (and quantity) is because of third parties and not their own first party studios. Forza will probably be the best first party game this holiday season. Maybe Infamous will be as good in terms of metacritic scores.

You know a launch is good when you can easily name 5 great games you can buy for launch.

I remember for PS2 i bought Tekken Tag and then...i went home, because there was nothing else worth a shit for PS2 launch in EU.

Both have pretty good lineups. I had both preordered but due to financial issues I dropped my PS4 preorder because Resogun was the only exclusive must have for the PS4 that I had to play. PS4 can wait until after the holidays. I'll probably buy the first one I see available in stores lol.

For the XOne Forza 5, KI + the TE2 fight stick, Crimson Dragon, and Peggle 2 are all day one must haves for me.

When were they not? They literally state on their website they are an independent developer from Finland.

Platinum Games is also an independent developer. Are they now indie devs as well?

As I said in a previous post, that's not the definition people use when they talk about indie games, although this would be the only definition that makes sense.

No.

Couple of nice looking titles on both, but as things are now, neither line up on it's own is enough to justify a day one purchase of a console imo.

Of course they are. So are we, regardless if we go through a major publisher or not.

Putty Squad

Yeah, nah. There's no way this is making PS4 launch. The Vita version was supposed to be a launch title and fell off a cliff. Since then all System 3 have been doing is announcing more and more platforms for this remake with nothing new to show.

I don't know why everyone is so fixated on the day one "launch line-up". I'm more concerned about over the life of the console. Over the months and years to come, PS4 will have the better titles.

OP, you forgot about Doki-Doki Universe for the PS4. Why am I the only person on this site who gives a shit about Doki-Doki Universe.

I agree with everything you said except this. PS3 launch did have Resistance. Much stronger than Knack appears to be, but yeah, it's no Shadow Fall.

MotorStorm was also a godlike racer if you count it as a launch game.
