DriveClub isn't given away for PS+. It's just a glorified demo
Still it would probably be cheaper to get the 'demo' and buy the extra content. That is if you buy Plus which you should obvioulsy do.

Indeed - just being equal to MS in the USA and UK would be a major triumph for Sony as they win in the rest of the world handily. If they can actually pull ahead in both those countries and maintain their dominance elsewhere (which so far seems to what's happening) then you're looking at a major win for Sony. Big change from the current generation.
Not that I think it will matter games wise - the number of third party exclusives is going to be even smaller this generation.
Anyway, to stay on topic. I wonder if this will be replicated countrywide? None of my friends are particularly interested in either console since going back to PC, so I'm unable to gather any anecdotal evidence, but what about everyone else's gaming buds?
In my book that's a win for gamers.
Ok, the Ps4 looks like it has the edge now, but to be honest, I can't believe MS is able to sell 2 Xbone every 3 PS4 despite the very negative mood that surrounds the console.
I honestly expect something worst for MS, something like 4-1 ...
zomgbbqftw, since you're an analyst who probably know abit about this, what would Sony be pumping out of their factories per month assuming industry average yields and when would a product like this start being mass produced?
(Since everyone knows about the new iPhone four months before from the supply chain, its strange we've not heard a peep)
500k per month then a ramp up to capacity of 1.5m per month depending on demand. Between July and November (four months of mass production) Sony can probably get around 2m units, 2.5m if they push it. That gives them enough for a two region launch, but not enough to supply Japan/Asia with 700k units as well. They will want at least 1m in the US and 1m in Europe if not more.
What does PS4 "Game Exclusive" Deposits mean?
You might want to adjust your Xbone expectations upwards, despite how shitty the system is.
Surprising considering places like Amazon have said they are tracking more Xbox One pre-orders.
PS4 and Xbox One pre-orders on Amazon UK are almost neck-and-neck, according to the online retailer, with Microsot’s console nudging ahead by just 2.3% sales.

Is this comparable for xbox one?
I know around 12 people that play video games in their spare time. 7 of them are primarily PC players while 5 are primarily console players. 7 have pre-ordered the PS4.
(I was surprised myself, I expected around 4, as they range from WoW only players to only playing FIFA.)
This was the response I got.

Eeehehehehe~2200 PS4 Deposits LTD
~110 PS4 "Game Exclusive" Deposits LTD
~1400 Xbox One Deposits LTD
~360 PS4 Deposits WTD (not including yesterday or today)

~180 Xbox One Deposits WTD
Yeah, not surprised really that the split is in favour of PS4. I'm also actually not that surprised that there's more some people sticking with their current console. There really hasn't been anything about either that screams 'buy me now'.
Now if Sony or MS had convinced R* to port GTA5 to either console, that might have made all the difference.
Considering PS3 only had 400k units for the US launch and pushed back the EU launch, they should be in a good position for Christmas.
Wouldn't they need more that 2 million?
MS are said to be suffering from poor yields of the APU so they won't be able to produce as many. I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed the non-US/UK launches until early 2014. They will want to ensure they have enough stock in their two main regions to at least meet demand.
If they don't have the supply available then it is just another feather in Sony's cap IMO, the experience offered by both is similar enough that a lot of gamers that would want Xbone might not be bothered enough to wait and will switch their allegiance to what they can buy rather than wait for what isn't in stock.
So before this week, PS4 was ahead with a ratio of 1.5:1 (1840:1220) and this week its jumped to 2.6:1 (470:180).
As you can see above PS4 was in the lead even pre-E3. Price just reinforced this trend so I'd say it's fair to assume the policies sourrounding the xbox one had a negative impact.Isn't the price difference the main reason for this rather that the xbox ones drm policies.

Interesting data for a country that used to be completely Xbox-centric. Glad there's no such thing as blind brand loyalty.
The numbers will be even more skewed for mainland Europe, I bet.
We need to make bets on how fast PS4 and XBone surpass Wii U sales
That would have been huge. I really expected one of the platforms to have some kind of announcement surrounding that.
I wonder how stubborn MS will be with the price since I really think it is the single biggest boon Sony could ask for. 499 is the same price that PS3 had for the cheaper SKU and we know how that turned out when there was much cheaper option that was on par or better with pretty much everything exept blu-ray.
Do we know how agressive MS has been with pricecuts if their product has a slow start? I think they will make a grave mistake if they don't have a Kinectless SKU for 399 or just cut the price before the second half of 2014.

1m PS4s for US and 1m for EU would be enough for Nov/Dec. Sony will have ramped up by November so they will ship more from January, and then after the Chinese new year they will launch in Japan/Asia I expect.

Considering the price difference and the DRM, I'm thinking MS will be more then happy.
Assuming Nintendo manage an OK relaunch I'd be surprised if the bone ever passes it

Weren't you the one telling everyone that Microsoft was going to take Europe this generation?
If the UK is any indication right now, they are on route to lose nearly every single territory to Sony.
Thanks, wouldn't it sell out with those kind of numbers?
Also, how would EU units be distributed?
They're about making money I'd say. Launching at that price and making those kind of pre orders is something that will please them.
Edit. It's early days yet, thier preorders could increase, which again considering the price, would be impressive.
I don't think they will be happy. It seems that they miscalculated Sony's moves and honestly believed that they would be at price parity with the PS4. Of course, it's still too early to predict how the market will react when both these consoles come out, but the PS4 has a massive edge for now. If Microsoft is unable to do anything about it in, say, within 1.5 to 2 years of launch, it will be extremely difficult for them to come out on top.Considering the price difference and the DRM, I'm thinking MS will be more then happy.
I don't think DRM matters at all here. The Xbone is 430 pounds, isn't it? That's like hyperdimension marktunia ridiculosa. You have REALLY got to want to play the launch games to pay that.
Almost certainly talking about the entirety of the UK. We are talking about £350 and £430 machines, after all.
