But they will have PS1, PS2, PS3, PSM BC using Gaikai but seems that not at launch.
Do you know this or are you just saying that you think that'll be the case? I was expecting native PS1 and PS2. I hope they get the ball rolling on that Gaikai solution quickly. The PS4 will not have any sort of native backwards compatibility.
That's not really fair because YouTube exists as a free service for any device on the Internet. The reason you don't say that is because anyone can get on YouTube with any thing and it's also not really for watching films.I think we should set a standard definition that "Backwards Compatibility" means you can use the original media of the previous device on the new device.
Streaming, Digital-Download, Remake, Remaster, etc... should not count as "Backwards Compatibility".
Otherwise I could say that my Phone is backwards compatible with film since I can watch old movie clips on YouTube.
people still use CD's?

Licence it, from who, themselves? CD is a Sony format, it's surprising that they chose not to include it tbh.
Backwards Compatibility means to play in a console the games you had a previous one from the same manufacturer. So if the PS1, PS2, PS3 games I purchased or got with PS+ in PS3, PSP or PS Vita are available in PS4 this is BC.I think we should set a standard definition that "Backwards Compatibility" means you can use the original media of the previous device on the new device.

Yep same here. But at least I'd like to play the ones I have in PSN, even if it's with lag and compression artifacts (something we have to see because if PS4 has dedicated hardware for streaming I assume that it's going to work well with decent connections).Yeah, but it's just...not the same.
I want to be able to use my discs, dammit!![]()
Didnt sony invent SACD?
Cause they want you to use Music Unlimited!

It gives me the idea that PS1 games on PSN will be supported, that's it since there is no CD support. The fact that Sony is acknowledging how easy it is and still saying they don't want to talk about their plans doesn't give me a good signal about it.
Well, if you want to do it right, you'd use hardware capable of outputting 240p and play it either on an interlaced CRT or use something like an XRGB.I was hoping for at least PS1 compatibility. I mean, how am I going to replay Castlevania SotN every year?
I have ripped all of my CDs so it isn't a huge issue for me, but my wife however has many Christmas CDs she likes to play during the holidays and the PS3 is what she uses to do so. I could rip them for her, but that isn't how she likes to use them. It seems like such a trivial thing to remove for Sony.Rip your CD to your computer ---> stream it to your PS4.
Would not be surprised to see PS4 also have many streaming options from tablets and smartphones.
Its called progress.
Will wait for the next 20 replies giving me some hyperbolic outrageous scenario about how this isn't feasible for you.
Well it IS the only way to properly display those games.Looks like I'm gonna be keeping my PS2 around for a long time.
I wonder why not. Shouldn't it be trivial to support them?

ソニー・コンピュータ・エンターテンイメントのアンドリュー・ハウス氏、インタビュー終わり。まずプレイステーション4ではSACD、CDはサポートしません。
Andrew House said PS4 does not support CD and SACD in interview.
So no CD music ripping.
But my computer doesn't even have a disc drive!!!So just rip it on your computer and transfer it over with a USB stick.

Seriously just stream it from PC to PS4.

Will PS4 have betamax support? Sony better not fuck me over on this. What about floppy disks?
