PS4 features you want Sony to fix/add?

The god damn store.

It fails to load 3 out of 4 times I try to access it. I have more luck using the webstore than I do accessing the silly thing from the PS4.

The USB music player will forget which tracks it's played on Shuffle if it's interrupted by something (this tends to happen most often with videos on the web browser).

Also, it needs playlist creation/saving.

Upload mp3s to the hard drive
Video support like mp4 etc
media remote

So basically everything my PS3 already does.

+1 for media remote. I know their official stance is that you can use your TV remote through HDMI, but that is such a lazy solution for them. I've tried both my TV and receiver remotes, and neither provide great functionality. Not to mention this still doesn't allow for PS Button functionality. Just allow me to use my PS3 media remote...

Also the obvious instant Resume-sleep similar to the Vita.

One more thing I want, not PS4 specific: two step verification for your SEN account. Just set it up for my Microsoft account and would like to do so with my PSN, especially with all the hacking going on lately. Just set up a PIN number just in case but two step would be better.

  • Customisable Front - Much as you said, OP, there needs to be folders and pinning. You should be able to customise what shows up in the What's New tab, as well as a redesign to make it easier to read. It's not that good compared to the Steam Friend Activity Feed. You should also be able to set custom wallpaper(s) and background music.
  • Remove Crap From Our Libraries - Why do I still have The Crew Beta in there? It makes no sense.
  • A Better PS Store - I'm not just talking about the store team or the layout, I'm talking about everything. The entire thing needs to be overhauled yet again and if the current team can't do it competently, they need to be replaced by people who actually know how to design and run a webstore.
  • PS1/PS2 Classics Compatibility - They have the emulators, they just need to port them over and test re-license each game for the PS4. That's a huge "just" but it's something they've had to do with each system, so they should be pretty experienced with the process.
  • PSP Digital Game Compatibility - I can't remember seeing this request before but I think it'd be a fantastic idea. They've got an emulator, they've got a good library of PSP games on the PSN and they can all be played with a standard controller. Why not? It's not like the Vita is blowing everyone away and it'd be easy money.
  • Suspend/Resume - One of the promised launch features. It's baffling that a crazy feature like SharePlay came to the PS4 before what seemed like a relatively simple one that Sony already have experience in on PSP/Vita.

The PS Store one is the big one, in my opinion. It's been over eight fucking years and yet it still comes across like an absolute amateur effort. The layout isn't very good, it's poorly categorised, the download list is a bad joke, the store managers constantly make mistakes which take days (or longer) to fix, updates are often late, it lacks information on games that I would consider necessary (like language support) and the issues go on and on. It's embarrassing.

I don't understand how they've had all these changes over the last few years and yet this has been the one constant from the launch of the PS3.

1) DLNA
2) Local playback of movie files (thumb drive and hard drive).
3) Folders (customizable)
4) Customizable home screen
5) Better web browser (as someone mentioned, the one included is hot garbage).

Edit: Add in an extra vote for a Media Remote, ability to delete games without deleting updates, suspend/resume, friend notification, show as offline (invisibility), and redoing the shitty store design (as in, its so bad just burn it to the ground and start over).

- DLNA
- appear offline
- delete 0% trophies
- better download performance
- revamp the What's New section, it's useless
- custom wallpaper
- suspend/resume
- light bar customization/off
- twitch app
- expanded avatar support
- PS1/2/PSP/Vita compatibility

You can turn them off in the settings prior to watching the movie under "Notifications".

Not ideal as you need to turn them back on again Afterwards but it works.

Yeah I know I can turn them off before watching a movie. I'm asking for them to automatically turn off when I start a movie. My 360 had this. It shouldn't be very difficult to implement.

-Friends List Icon, always to the left or right of the What's New Icon. Online friends appear first by default, so no need for fiddling in that bullshit left hand side menu.

-Folders for sorting the Icons/Apps

-Maybe return the Backround image/music when highlighting a game/app. (edit: just for Fallout 4 :p)

I'd like better friends lists and better notifications.

Thanks to Destiny's lack of community features, my friends list has about 150 people on it (and it still wasn't easy to find a raid!).

I'd like to be able to segregate the list into 'close friends', 'destiny', 'gaf', etc. and then set different notification criteria for each.
e.g. I want to know if friends and family come online, but not be bombarded with notifications from that guy I once played 10 minutes of Destiny with.

PS4-to-PS4 transfer or a backup utililty to USB.

What sucks is having to download games twice. With the PS3, I could download everything I need on one and use an ethernet cable to mirror the hard drive into the other PS3.

-sleep/resume
-removable storage compatibility
-upload to imgur
-official remote play support for android devices
-streaming demos

Share button
Suspend resume
get rid of bloatware app placeholders
fix messaging

I'm sure there is more that I can't remember right now.

FIXES

  • game artwork caching
  • the ugly themes need to be removed
  • the terribly slow messaging system (isnt that hard considering how many people sub to PS+)
  • a new mobile app, they could use a good mobile interface designer and dev team.
  • MORE CLOUD STORAGE FOR GAME SAVES
  • NETWORK DOWNTIME

Feature wise i'm pretty happy

  • Sleep / Resume
  • Better organization of games, grouping/folders (pretty much anything is better than the crap we have now)
  • Customization (at least backgrounds please)
  • Remove trophies from list (0%)
  • Turn off controller light (anything to do with the terrible controller battery life)
  • DLNA (seriously? how is it that the XBONE has better media playback?)
  • External HDD support

There are so many things they need to do, sadly there is almost no feedback from Sony on what they're planning, and when it will be available

Standby-Resume
Better icon management: Folders, Custom order, trash etc.
More store features: Wishlist, Game discussion/review feature, some other steam-store features. Would also love if they added all upcoming games so you can tag stuff to your wishlist before they release and automatically get trailers and updates about the game.
Custom backgrounds
Appear offline
Better what's new page.
Remote-play to all phones

Minor suggestion:

Have a setting to make double-clicking the Share button perform a clip save (last 30 seconds, 5 minutes, or whatever duration you have it set to) without it leaving the game. Currently, this starts a recording, not saves what just happens.

Basically, make it the same as "Xbox record that" but using the Share button.

REMOTE PLAY CUSTOM BUTTON MAPPING

Maybe they will see it if it's in caps. Maybe they will care slightly more. Maybe.

Like, this needed to be a thing from the start, you need to be able to custom map when using the console in remote play. It would make the feature a hundred times better and more comfortable for everyone. If I connect a RP device to my console, ask me how I want to map the buttons. Please Sony.

PNG screenshot capture.

Delete trophy lists:
0% (no limit)
≤20% completion (2 per year)
>20% completion (1 per year)

Deleted games are moved to a 'are you sure?' list, an email is sent to notify the account holder and after three months the trophy list is deleted permanently.

Change PSN ID
DLNA
Better store
Change PSN ID
Library organization
Better organization in general
Change PSN ID
Ability to play store-purchased PS1/PS2 titles
And change PSN ID.

  1. Offline mode (so i can play without my friends bothering me :P )
  2. Update when friend(s) come online
  3. Remove games with zero trophies from trophy list
  4. More customization options to the UI ( own maps/tiles)

I want to be able to pause background downloads of games.

They added the option to pause downloads but only for the installers. When the rest of the game is downloading there's no option to pause that.

My PS4 doesn't play PSX/PS2 games at all, let alone at 1080p, that needs sorting.
Video/Photo/Music needs to be stored locally on HDD too.
Personalised wallpapers too

Folders pls.

I need some form of clear-cut sorting system I control fully.

The Library addition from previously is wank. I want to be able to sort things in to named folders, pin them in to place and not have to view games/DLC references that I no longer have on the system.

That is my number one request. It was perfect on the PS3 and helped me sort shit and make them accessible with ease. None of that on PS4.

Remote control support.

I have a Harmony One remote that works with my Xbox One, 360, PS3, even the freaking Wii U...why can't I use it with with my PS4? They both use Bluetooth. If they aren't going to make their own remote, they should make it more accessible with the remote I have. I know that it works with HDMI-CEC but that doesn't work with the Harmony One.

- Add support for the PS3 BD remote or release a new one for PS4.
- Better HDMI-CEC support. It's fine in the PS4 UI, but in Netflix the "Go back" button doesn't work. When the movie I'm watching ends, unless I want to watch one of the suggestions, the only way to get back to the main Netflix screen is to turn a controller on and hit circle.
- DLNA support
- Suspend/Resume

I'm sure there's more, but those are the main ones.

HDMI-CEC should work with your Harmony remote if your TV supports it. Just make sure you have the remote programmed to emulate your TV remote and enable HDMI-CEC on your TV and PS4.
