PS4 features you want Sony to fix/add?

Logitech Harmony support. Logitech has been blaming Sony since, while seemingly not even communicating to Sony to find a solution, and Sony has just been quiet on the whole thing, not even releasing a media remote of their own for the system and no third party solutions being available at all.

Because the PS4 (and PS3) do not have an IR receiver they will never work with any remote. The only solution is an external IR USB receiver that works with the PS4. It is ridiculous after the PS3 that they didn't include IR in the PS4.

Never going to happen. (See: Playstation Now and PSN Classics)

PS3 supports both disc based PS1(and PS2 for early models) games and PSN Classics. PS Now doesn't support older titles.

Honestly, I don't think the used market is all that big a threat to PSN classics since I've personally double dipped on select PS1 games in order to play them across devices. For titles I don't already own, I can't see myself buying a used copy over the digital version.

I just think Sony should do it because it reinforces the continuity of the PS brand, and it'll generate massive amounts of goodwill. Capitalizing on that just seems like the kind of move Sony is inclined to make these days.

Satisfied with the OS speed and smoothness, I wish they add:

- Suspend / resume
- Online status and friends notifications.
- Folders
- External HDD support

instant Resume-sleep - my vita has it, my PS4 NEEDS it

Yep. That's my one hesitation with Persona 5. I loved P4G, but never would have got through it without suspend/resume. Saves are too far apart at times. Same for stuff like MGS with super long cut scenes that I may need to quit playing before they finish.

Other than that, just folders to make the library more usable, and an "appear offline" status option.

- friend notifications
- party invite + game notification all in one like on xbox 360. current process is annoying where you have to send your friends two different requests.
- DLNA for video and audio streaming from a media server
- More DMB customization options (pinning, hiding stuff, etc.)

Most of the newer Harmony remotes come with a bluetooth hub that is able to communicate the commands. This worked perfectly with my PS3. I'm sure this can be supported in the same way for PS4.

PS4 already supports bluetooth connectivity with certain keyboards and mice. Their support manual seems to indicate that the console also technically has the ability to provide broader support for bluetooth devices (printer? wtf haha):

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/bluetooth.html

Makes no sense. At the very least if they are trying to lock the system down...they should release a separate remote especially with Playstation Vue/ iptv coming into play. It would sure help prolong my DS4 battery life...

DLNA

FFS why is it talking so long to get this feature. XBO has had it for ages now...

Easiest answer I can think of is a large part of the gaming community praised Sony for taking the games route instead of the media route this time around. So things like DLNA and local media playback took a backseat to the games.

PS4 is a product of its audience's desires.

-Fix messages
-Notifications for when my friends come online
-Appear offline function
-More themes
-Sleep/resume
-Able to change your avatar
-Folders

I've become addicted to taking screenshots while playing.

I would love for some awesome hub where I can see other users uploads and rate.

DLNA support and how about instant messaging. I have timed how long it takes for a friend to receive a message and it takes several minutes. How is that even possible?

I would like the PSN network to know that I have PS+ when I go to the store. I don't need PS+ ads to be the first thing I see when going to the store when it's something I already have. Just show me the content.

Proper local backup feature, like PS3 has.

Allow us to back up EVERYTHING to an external hdd. Allow us to back up ALL saves at once, not just one by one.

I have an Xbox One now so I don't care about DLNA anymore, but I'd still love to see:

-PS1/PS2 support, I mean seriously what's the deal here? At the very least we should have been able to play the Classics available on PSN by now. Disc support is apparently an unreasonable pipe dream these days, but I want that too. It's depressing to see Sony (and Microsoft too) turn their backs on backward compatibility, I don't want rely on older hardware forever, and I have zero faith in their long term reliability.

-Suspend/Resume. Sony wants me to forget apparently, but I'm not going to shut up about it.

-Better UI and organization of games. The library is kind of messy, has a lot of stuff I don't want to see, can't figure out how to organize it if I even can.

-Local MP3 support.. They were so close too and just half-assed it.

PS3 supported the discs before the Now and Classics came along.
Now that PS Now and PSN are here, there's no way they are going to spend time and money on something that directly takes away money (less people buying PSN games)

I have one minor one and its one the main reasons I stayed digital with my PS4. When you have a disc and you push down to the game's information, trophies, add-ons it still asks you to purchase the game. I wish they'd change it to "Visit Store Page" or some shit.

First one I can think of is fix the bug which makes you have to switch user in order to access the PS store, make custom themes available to public ala ps3 through browser,
I'd also like to be able to download videos through browser like ps3 and obviously by extension local video playback

Hi. long time lurker, first time poster. I sincerely believe that Sony should have named the PS4, PS3.5, since everything is half assed.

Yours truly,
Bob Saget.

Sony, take note:
-Sleep/resume
-PS1, PS2, PSP, Vita TV games local emulation in PS4
-Not sure if still happen or if it was only from a few early consoles, but to fix the eject issue and the destructible nubs.
-MP3 support
-Let me stream the video+audio of my PC desktop, and or the audio+video of my Vita (LAN is ok, I don't need to do it through Internet).

Rest mode actually downloading 100% of the time rather than when it feels like it.
Ability to pause and resume downloads of games once they've downloaded the original installer - I don't want 30 gigs of my bandwidth being used when I can't control it.
More than 1gb of PS+ save storage - that limit is a joke.
Better multitasking support - it's embarrassing that I can't run Youtube and a game at the same time.
Turn off the DS4 light bar completely, I'd rather have the battery life
Suspend resume
Home screen organisation
Better media features - DLNA/USB media playback.

The more features you try to use on this console, outside of putting in a disc and playing the game, the more the cracks really start to show. It's almost been out a year and a half now, and we've had one major feature update. It's so frustrating when my Xbox is updating every month with new stuff, but my PS4 is my main console.

Yes, all of this.

Suspend/Resume.

C'mon, they talked about this so much at E3, give it to us. It's pretty wonderful to use on Xbox and not have to go through initial loading screens when I play single player games.

The library sorting need a complete overhaul.
Suspend/Resume
DNLA support
Unlimited cloud save data storage
Fix the broken messaging system, it takes 5 minutes for messages to go through still
Ability to upload screenshots directly to image hosting websites on the system. No transferring to USB nonsense

Logitech already has a bluetooth hub for their Harmony remotes that works with the PS3. My Harmony works with my PS3. Logically the question is why not do the exact same thing for the PS4? We haven't gotten a clear answer for that, from Logitech or Sony.

In the store, bring back the tab that shows the new content for the week

I still don't understand whose idea it was to remove that function

Hi. Long time lurker...joke post, right? I don't want to call it a shit post yet.

Mind boggling that suspending play isn't a feature yet.

Can't tell you how amazing this feature is on Xbone.

Fix the broken PSN.

So tired of "maintenance" during peak hours, and getting logged off or can't sign in or even play offline games.

Paying for this service is a joke.

HDMI-CEC should work with your Harmony remote if your TV supports it. Just make sure you have the remote programmed to emulate your TV remote and enable HDMI-CEC on your TV and PS4.

I accidentally said the Harmony One when I have the Harmony Ultimate. As far as I can tell HDMI-CEC doesn't work between the hub and PS4. I had a Harmony 880 before this that worked fine as far as CEC but it doesn't seem to work with that specific remote. :(

-custom backgrounds
-media playback
-of the media playback, ability to play music in the background while playing games
-see when your friends were last on
-select a theme but still be able to use your own custom background. Ps3 had this feature
-perhaps be able to select a specific theme but use theme music from a different one.
-perhaps a recycle bin for the shit you've deleted. but I'm guessing this sorta thing would require more RAM use.

Full list:

* Suspend/Resume. (Sometime in my lifetime please Sony. Jesus fucking Christ).
* Show as Offline.
* Folders for games and apps and friends.
* Notifications when select friends go online.
* Notifications that simply show the message rather than requiring a user to dig through menus.
* Ability to remove/opt out of Sony Ads/services on the dash like Whats New, Sony Music, etc.
* Disable/Opt-out of "Friends you may know". I never asked for this.
* Increased cloud storage.
* Significantly improved battery life for the DualShocks.
* Much, much more PSN stability.

Fix basic crap a college student could figure out like PSN name changes. Also your video thumbnails are stupid. I have a 55 inch television. If I'm watching a game trailer it shouldn't be 1/8 the size of my screen with no option to go fullscreen.
