PS4 features you want Sony to fix/add?

Thought of another.

A setting that lets me cold boot into sleep mode.*

*My ps4 is turned off, which means I have to turn it on first to use RP, which in turn switches my TV on, which is annoying. If when plugged in it starts sleep mode, that would be useful to me.

1. They need to make Players Met mandatory for all games.

2. Game invites should be baked into the PS4s OS. We should be able to press the options button on our friends or on our party with the ability to invite them into whatever multiplayer we're playing.

3. The "Join Session" option should be universal as well. Should work across all multiplayer games.

4. Trophy leaderboards should be integrated into the UI/PSN.

I read through this thread and am super happy to realize that i don't care about most features people are complaining about. Phew.

My biggest nitpick is that i have a bunch of "friends" from specific games that i don't know about or care about unless I'm playing that game. I want to flag preferred friends for notifications and the what's new section and never see anything from non flagged people.

Edit oh and being able to adjust party members volume. I have a friend that is so freaking loud i have to mute him occasionally.

Someone needs to tally our responses up and send an email to Sony. I may have time on the weekend. Giving it a try is better than only writing about it here.

My list:
  1. home screen customization
  2. organize applications
  3. more options for customizing updates/following certain friends
  4. more prompting to join friends. Here's what I mean: if I'm on the home screen, it could let me know which of my friends are in what games by maybe highlighting those games. If I am in a game and friends are in their homescreen, it could prompt me to invite them. Totally not for everybody, but I'd like an option for that.
  5. put the power off option in a new row above updates/friends/trophies/etc. That way, if you want to turn it off, you can simply hold up from whereever you are on the homescreen.
  6. a shuffle function for selecting games. Sometimes, I don't want to pick.

'Delete All' for notifications, downloads, uploads, etc.

Being able to delete notifications without having to open whatever app/game its tied to.

It was 2 years ago this month that Sony touted the suspend/resume feature for the PS4, two freaking years and not a word about it since. This is actually becoming comical that Sony can't come through on such a big feature that was promised. Smh.

- Messages working properly for everyone - yes it works flawlessly for some.
- Notifications for a list of friends
- Delete betas, demos from library
- Touchpad support in the web browser
- USB media playback - AVI, MP4 etc.
- Deleting games while keeping updates - for those of us with discs especially
- Show when people are using Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube like on PS3
- Game presence for every game
- Players met like PS3 had it, PS4 version is useless

Ultimately I just want updates in general more frequently. It's going on a year and a half and what have they added really? Does it seem like they've added or fixed enough in that time period?

Logitech Harmony support. Logitech has been blaming Sony since, while seemingly not even communicating to Sony to find a solution, and Sony has just been quiet on the whole thing, not even releasing a media remote of their own for the system and no third party solutions being available at all.

Also streamline the save game data management so you can batch transfer ALL save data via cloud or USB. Makes transferring to a new HDD, an officially supported option for the system, a tedious nightmare.

It still lack so many features, including some that were promised and some that the PS3 already have.

Sad that for every console change is like starting from zero.

The Vita is a worse offender, I really like the UI but no multiple accounts support is just offensive, so is the games library in their store.

Since they cant seem to figure out their own PSN name database.

Implement a "Display Profile name" that overlays your PSN name. Similar to what Steam has.

#1 - The ability to turn off notifications while watching videos (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

#2 - PS1/PS2 emulation.

#3 - Custom backgrounds.

#4 - Voice commands for Netflix/Hulu (Play, Pause, Next Episode, etc...).

all i want is to be able to delete 0 point items from the trophy list and be able to play and store video, music and picture files on the system.

Lol at the PSX/2 emulation. Not because it's not a super nice thing of them to do, but there is no way in HELL that Sony is going to do that.

PS Now is going to be the only way to play these games in the future, and I'd be really, really happy if I have to eat my own words on that.

Oh, another annoying one. I have psn friends recommendation. Some dude called Gary Taylor. I do not know him or want to add him, so why can't I delete this recommendation? Stop asking!

- Folders
- Friend circles (like Google+) so I can organise friends in to what game I play with them.

Just general clear up, really.

Oh, fix the sub account shit. People should be able to graduate to a master account when they become 18. Otherwise scrap the sub account all together.

It's too late for me, but nobody deserves to lose an entire generation of trophies and progress.

Plenty of things I want to see changed. Bolded are the ones I want most.

Enhancements to PSN:

  • Appear Offline
  • Create groups for PSN friends
  • Custom Controls for PS Now games - having to use the shoulder buttons for shooters sucks
  • Delete 0% trophy lists
  • Improved Store, with better interface and search features
  • Nicknames for PSN friends
  • Notifications for specific friends (when they come online, when they're playing the same game as you)
  • Sort trophies in alphabetical order
  • Support for Premium avatars

General Features:

  • DLNA support
  • External HDD support
  • Install updates without having to play the game - if you download a game for the first time, sometimes the update file will be set to "Ready to Install," forcing you to start the game in order to update.
  • More sound options - PS3 had a multitude of audio options, PS4 mostly relies on auto detecting your audio setup
  • Pin Games/Apps to Media Bar
  • Proper music/video player

What do you mean?
You can change your avatar?
You can't change your avatar to anything except the ones given to you by Sony. Where are the ones I bought or were given on PS3? Why do I have to own a PS3 to change my avatar to one of those?

I want the feature they promised at the reveal - suspend/resume. A full year has gone by and we got nothing for that.

-Better sorting options/Folders. Still not a big fan of the media bar only sorting by what you used most recently (and folders are already used for the TV section!)
-Custom backgrounds
-Ability to mix and match themes. You could have the Rectangle background, but with the FFXIV music and grey system colour for the settings menu.
-Suspend/resume. While I don't mind as much as others about this feature's absence, it would still be really nice to have.
-Library at the front of the media bar. If that's where all your games are, surely it makes more sense to have it at the start of the bar rather than at the end.
-Friend online notifications

Let me pause downloads. Seriously. If I have two things downloading at once, let me pause the one I want to play least. That way my bandwidth doesn't get split and I can get to the thing that I want to play now quicker.

XMB customisation. Must each game/feature have its own tile? Let me put all my digital games in one folder, all other apps in another. And give us playback via USB, damn it.

First and foremost:
Backwards compatibility for PS1&2 discs, and PSP digital.

Then suspend/resume, OS-wide search + sorting into smart folders, search for PSN downloads history, improved media player and format support + DLNA

Let me pause downloads. Seriously. If I have two things downloading at once, let me pause the one I want to play least. That way my bandwidth doesn't get split and I can get to the thing that I want to play now quicker.

You can do this already. I believe you highlight the item you want to pause and press the options button. Or you just press X. Can't remember exactly.

Suspend/resume would be nice but I don't really use it on my XB1 or Vita so it's not a huge deal to me. I more just want them to deliver it since they already promised it ages ago.

Honestly can't think of many features I really want, I guess just changing my username.

Ps4's friend list and messaging are god awful. PS3 was god compared to this. How have they gone backwards? If anything i would have expected an improvement on the ps3.

Okay so i am a highly social gamer and the ps4 is just awful for this. Here is what i propose they do.

- Custom notifications - Choose where on your screen you want them to appear. Being able to customise sounds and transparency. Worst thing is when your in a intense game and the notifications are blocking your radar.

- Friend Online notification - ps3 had this so why not ps4? 2k friends thats why? You should be able to select particular friends from your friendlist to appear on notifications.

- Display messages notification - fully custom of course. Should display the 1st 10 characters of a message on screen. Decide which chatrooms you want nofications from. Being able to adjust sound, transparency, location and size. Also an option to have entire messages scrolling across your screen depending on your settings.

- Display party text chat notification - nuff said

- Appear offline -

- Yellow busy marker - ps3 had this... Like wth sony

- Display comments by your name on friendlist - again ps3 had this...

And for god sake when i recieve a message i want to see it, not refresh for a lifetime then see it. I dont get it as ps3 messaging was so instant and you could view it instantly. Why is ps4 messaging still on dial up? Sort it out sony.

As a highly social online gamer ps4 may as well be a brick.

There's one thing that I really like on the XBO and that the PS4 lacks:

- simultaneous audio of TV and headphones when headphones are plugged in.

I really don't like the fact that the PS4 completely mutes the TV audio when the headphones are plugged in. It could explain why the PS4 has better headphones audio quality than the XBO, bit I would still love to see the option to enable simultaneous audio.

Hear party chat through the tv even when you have a mic plugged in.
Is this really game specific? I'm pretty sure you can pick which output the party chat comes through when I'm playing Destiny.

  • Wallpapers
  • Friends notification

This.

A lot of the OS seems to work as I would want, but:
Customer Wallpapers
DLNA
Friend Notifications
Folders for games
Favorite a game to keep it on the left
Change avatar (can do it on my other systems and the website but eeeeeeeeh)
A quicker way to choose between whether all audio goes to my headset or just the chat audio.

It really is small stuff. I'd LIKE to have PS1/PS2 support and a host of other relatively major items, but the above list is smaller and nuanced.
