PS4 features you want Sony to fix/add?

"People you may know" needs to be fixed or it should fuck off.

Yeah, what's up with that? My tab looks more like "strangers you don't want to meet."
And I get friend requests from there..

"I lolzd at ya tuxedo horse! Adds me up!"

*sight* delete.

I want them to fix some of the language issues on their system. If I use my console with "Spanish - Latin America" selected, I get a couple of games only on English. If I change it to "Spanish - Spain" those games change to Spanish, but the rest of the games change to English. For example, I get Transistor and Rogue Legacy on english and Dying Light in spanish if I set up the console to Latin America, if I change to Spain, then DL is English and the other 2 spanish.

This is fucking annoying for me, because my brother uses the console for some games and he doesn't know the language quite well. How hard is to fix this, Sony? I mean, the fucking language is already there.

I know this will never get fixed, because I never expect Sony to fix anything. I had a 360 last gen, and I kinda miss MS for fixing things quickly and easy. Sony is just a huge disappointment all around.

Something tells me if it were that easy, Sony would have enabled that ability by now.

They just won't invest the time and money. Conceptually it's simple. Redesigning their bad legacy code is just time consuming. However I don't believe in keeping bad code around just because it works good enough.

  1. PS1-PS3 BC.
  2. PS3 Joystick compatibilty.
  3. Support for MP3, MP4, etc.
  4. Twitch app.
  5. Better synchronized friend list, messaging.
  6. Avatar support.

Time consuming and risky, depending how far back they have to redesign their databases and infrastructure.

If PSN was never built to allow for name changes, then trying to enable that feature without breaking things could be a very daunting task.

The triggers. Above everything else, the triggers on the controller. They're only marginally less awful than the DS3 triggers.

After that probably the overly horizontal nature of UI. The XMB did a better job of organization.

Open up Remote Play to non-Sony phones and tablets. I've got my Vita so I just use that but I'd really love to have some proper triggers for remote play instead without having to change my preferred mobile manufacturer. It's on its way to being hacked in anyway so they may as well just do it. Hell while we're at it let me use it from my PC too.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remote-play-t2929147

Everything you need is there. Very easy, works better than the vita (dualshock, triggers!, any size screen)

Ram and system footprint more on par with the ps3 os.That takes up like 20 mb ram and minimal processing power, ps4 os takes 3gb ram and two of the 8 cpu cores.

Wallpapers from USB pictures like on PS3, custom system music, ability to choose which tiles appear so you don't have to scroll through a bunch every time, option to lower tile size on screen to be much smaller or just appear as words like a simulated old style XMB. Ability to delete a screenshot while viewing it.

Can someone explain what exactly this is? suspend/resume a download/installation? but why would you want to suspend it in the first place... don't you want your game/thing to be downloaded asap?

Say you're in the middle of a game and you can't or are unable to save, using suspend/resume you could just hit pause put your ps4 in sleep then come back later turn on your ps4 and boom you're right where you left off.

Vita and XB1 have it and trust me, its handy

ohh, I see. I think the psp had it too although it was a little more shoddy since it was weaker hardware. I haven't had this problem yet, but I can definitely see why others would want it.

yes, so this is also feature sony needs to give. yes yes.

I have an XB1 and I'll be honest... I would give up suspend/resume for the OS to be more stable. Keeping apps, and games, in memory tends to fuck things up.

PS4 doesn't have that yet? With the load times being so long this gen, it's my favorite XB1 feature

- PS1/ PS2 classics on the store w/ trophy support

- Folders

- Offline trophy lists

- Fix messages
Fix all that and I want games that are deleted to not be listed in the library. Also I wish they make the menu bar more minimalistic.

I am still awaiting the universal spectating feature across any game from your friends that they promised when they first announced the PS4.

Hide online status.
Friend notifications.
Folders.
The ability to delete trophy lists.

I would also love to the ability to post videos to my profile page which people on my friends list could see and be able to comment on.

Still waiting on a damn Suspend/Sleep mode like they promised back at the reveal.
I want to be able to play A game stop anywhere and then continue just like XB1.

I'd just like them to bring the OS on par with what the PS3 can do. Even if you discount the major things like being able to store and play videos on the system there are really minor things that seem trivial that the PS4 just doesn't do.
For example if you put a Blu-Ray movie into a PS4 the system doesn't give you any indication of what it is until you play it or eject it, whereas the PS3 knows the name of the movie and pulls a title picture from the disc too.

Suspend/resume like the Xbox One implementation. Unlimited cloud storage for everyone like Xbox live.
Also the ability to turn off the light bar complete

Hmm...

Account

» Ability to change username (small charge, limited to 3 changes a year to stop abuse)
» Upgrade a sub account to a master account
» Custom avatars and ability to purchase and change avatars via the store
» 2 step authentication
» System wide settings outside video and audio settings. As mentioned controller preferences etc. May be a tad are for this though
» Better management of my PSN purchases. This could tie into the Library but I'd like one place to check everything related to my account. All my purchases organized sensibly by platform etc. And all my subscriptions in one place. I seem a custom website a few days ago that showed you something like this. Why can't Sony implement this themselves?

PSN

» Download speed. Whilst I've never had any issues it seems a prevalent issue in many threads. I notice it's more problematic in the US?
» Messages! **** me. Forgive my language but why is this still an issue after all this time? Rediculous. I get a notification on my PS4 (or phone if I'm logged into the app which fyi pops before the PS4 notification) and then hit the PS button and go to messages and nothing.
» I'm unsure if this is PSN related or OS related but it takes a stupid amount of time to access trophies from the trophy notification. What makes this worse is that the game your playing doesn't pause leaving you unable to do anything for around 5 or 6 seconds. This may be down to the amount of trophies you have making it take longer to load as I haven't seen any mention of this before from anyone
» Scheduled Maintenance. Always at the worst of times and occurs far too often. I'm all for improvements (dur) but why not let us know is what's going on? The PSN is down more than any other gaming network and the downtime in across mainland Europe is always at peak times. Get these engineers on during the day or night. Not during the evenings and weekends

OS

» The tiles and the Library system are a mess and in need of a major overhaul. The Library needs to be neater more contained and contain all your purchases. Folders would be nice but I've always seen them as a poor solution to poor design
» Party. A few less steps would be nice. Click party, select from friends and done. Slower than I'd like but I'm nitpicking a bit here.
» Friends... Now bear with me. You may have seen me mention this before. Some kind of category/grouping/tagging system. You assign your friend a tag and from here you can send invites to this tag sending out invites to all users that are assigned this tag. You can also set notifications individually for tags. Turn off party notifications for all users except friends and family. Allow only certain tags to be shown under the what's new app etc so that irrelevant information to you is cut. You can go wild with this and customize more by only allowing certain tags access to certain aspects of the OS
» Notifications. See above
» HDCP. Should enable and disable itslef depending on the app you're using. Having to change it manually if you want to use a media after perhaps streaming to an external device etc. Is a nuisance
» Media Player. Where us it? Playback from USB and DLNA are a must and native playback of the most popular codecs is required. My Smart TV has better media playback capabilities, as does my phone, tablet, PS3 and outside bluesy playback my Vita. Maybe some of that is to be expected in this day and age but get a move on

PS+

» Not much to add here as the service exceptional except for... 1GB cloud storage... It's 2015 and in the case of the PS4 1GB is nowhere near enough. Many games are around 20 meg, and there are a few that are around 100! Get it increased

Hardware

» Future revisions need physical buttons, smaller footprint and improved cooling along with quieter fans but this is all par for the course with the apu's getting shrunk. REAR USB PORTS!

Sony PlayStation

» I could go on forever but customer relations could be improved as communication has all but faltered outside the occasional tweets by Shu. What happened to all the execs shouting from the rooftops pre launch? A lot of good will was garnered over the months but it's all but dried up? It's the one thing that I'd argue Microsft have improved on dramatically. Where are my updates and timescales on any of the above features/firmware updates? Why doesn't the gaming media (joke) ask these questions? Happy to get their review copies and do bear minimal
» Sort out your websites. Far too many. Amalgamet some of them and make them more accessible from one another. You've rebranded the Sen store to the PlayStation store. Now change the url and have it linked to the eu and us blog. Also incorporate all the various websites and forums into one site. It's far too messy. Whilst you're at it be done with the whole Sen account guff. Playstaion is you most powerful brand, use it.

As I said above I could go on here and could add much more to the other sections also but all in all Sony is slipping. Too slow to react and poor communication of what's to come. I think I've heard more on vue in recent months than what I've heard on the PS4.

Oh and I'm on my phone and predictive text is taunting me.

I really want SONY to fix the store, it only loads like 60% of the time for me.

Folders, Notifications and the ability to appear offline would be nice too.

1: I'd like for trophies to work better when offline. :/

Example:
A few days ago / week ago PSN was intermittent and I couldn't look at my trophies it just got stuck trying to load them. Just show me what I have already, I don't always care about what's in the cloud. Do they not keep them locally?

2: Pinning apps would be nice.

3: Show me everything in PSN Store. Sure, I can't play everything, but it's annoying to have to log in on another device (PC / PS3 / Vita) to purchase games for other platforms.

If I remember correctly there was a feature that was if someone on your friend list was playing a game you didn't have you could click on their name and watch them live in game playing it.

Either I took what I saw the wrong way, or its not out yet, or I just don't know how to do it.

- Friend Notifications
- Create folder and organize your games how you want
- Pausing downloads (you can pause them when they show up on the download menu, but bigger games generally download something like 7 GB and the the other 20 in the background and you can't pause that)
-Suspend/Resume
- External HDD support

As many have mentioned, suspend/resume and name changes are the big ones.

I would like to have the ability to customize the cross media bar more with folders and pinning certain games and apps to the top.

More robust Bluetooth headphones support!! Common! There is already a standard, and the PS4 only supports like 3 random headsets, which sadly does not include my SONY brand MDR-1RBTs which are newer than some of the pulse headsets they already support and manufactured by their own fucking company!

Please give more PS4Share options.

I know we can save them on usb now, but I'd like to share them instantly via flickr or something so it retains the same quality.

Twitter and facebook still make screenshots look like shit.

Saving gameplay clips to dropbox or something would be so nice.

Or even wireless transfer over Bluetooth (like airdrop on iOS/OSX) would be great.
