PS5 Pro Reveal Thread - Not Flops, TFlops

I just bought some blu-rays again since streaming is getting worse by the day, and my PS5 is my only blu-ray player. So the real price of the PS5P for me is $780 + tax.

Maybe $300 resale value on the PS5 Disc? After taxes and fees it's a >$500 upgrade. Tough pill to swallow without a system seller title.

At least it's not 950€, which is what this thing plus disc drive will for sure cost here in Sweden. That might not even be enough, could very well be 1000€.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
That price is absolutely cursed.

And it doesn't come with a stand, disc drive, or even a game that will utilize the power of the pro. Astro's Playroom was not featured as one of the enhanced by pro games.

Value proposition is basically equivalent to launch PS3 - hard pass.

Eh. I’ll still get one. I can afford it, I only buy games digitally so won’t need the disc drive, and all I really wanted was to be able to play performance modes at higher resolutions. Which this seems like it’ll be able to do.

Would’ve been nice to have some better demonstrations of the tech, with more comparisons etc though.

Movie + Music = 100% physical. Always been.

Games are more complicated since developers love putting unfinished games on the discs. Much safer on a large majority of Nintendo cartridges though. Still digital is not a great thing either, physical will always be better. Especially when the content on disc/cart is complete and patched, or working from the get go (yes, sometimes it happens).

Mckmaster uses MasterCard to buy Slave drives
Companies are increasingly realizing that to maximize revenue they should release a mainstream targeted product that regular people can barely afford, plus a lavishly priced but properly differentiated premium product for STEM nerds and Finance bros, where margins are high and it becomes a status symbol. Seeing it everywhere, from smartphones to concert tickets. The high earning segment can afford $1000+ for every transaction and will treat it like a normal purchase.

Best post in this thread so far!

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Just got home from the hospital (I'm fine) and thinking about checking myself back in after seeing that price, my head hurts that much.

You'd have to have brains made of spaghetti to think about buying that thing at that price. Or just significantly more money then sense, I guess.

Terrible showing. So they mostly show games that came out early in the gen, a cross-gen game and basically tell us the OG PS5 wasn't good enough to even play those games at acceptable fidelity and frame rate.

And the console is digital only, pass. What a joke.

Why should a 2TB SSD make a difference if you can already easily replace it on the OG PS5? They didn't do enough to make a mid-gen upgrade refresh worth it.
I'm actually a little shocked they didn't get a bigger upgrade for the CPU, given how many games and possibly future games are CPU limited.

I'm think I'm done with mid-gen upgrades, although I did think the XB1X was a hefty upgrade at the time

Are you serious?
I see, here for the drama.

I get it, pro is a lot of money, but read the market, if a series x with a 2tb drive is 599, 699 for a vastly superior device isn't that bad in my opinion.

It's not for everyone.

I'm of two minds about this....

For a console it's pretty expensive and not for the average player.

But a compable PC would be much more expensive.

If built from the ground up sure, but if you upgrade a current PC (depending on your specs, I don't think it would cost much more.
Plus PC comes with a ton of other benefits like mods, emulation, much bigger library, bigger sales for games, etc

I agree. I mainly play on PC and it has a ton of benefits that consoles don't.

I'm just saying for what you're getting the price isn't that ridiculous in comparison.

cpu is only tiny bit overclocked vs base, if it runs 30fps on base, maybe we get 40fps on pr0, but its big maybe, 60fps is definitely out of the question coz of same zen2 cpu
Do you really think the CPU would be the bottleneck not allowing the game to reach 60? Name one game not potato-coded where that is the case.

Use the search tool of the forum and look what is my position about Xbox Series X all Digital.

Dude, Sony fanboys are out of their fucking mind. Showing their claw at the light of day.
The 2tb isn't the all digital.

Cerny did his job this gen, and he did it very well.

However, everyone else surrounding him at Sony are trying their best to undermine his work.

Don't be surprised if he bounces before the end of this gen.
I don't think he'll leave tbh.
He gets credited and full spotlight for all his work. He gets to work on mid-gen refreshes, and no doubt he's working on the PS6 as well.

The only problem he faces is that he's limited by the console's price point. With the PS5 Pro price point, it looks like he got to go full beast mode with what he probably wanted the PS5 to be.

Don't forget they didn't even bother to include the shitty plastic stand that probably costs them $1 to produce.
