Hey all--- as an XBOX360 owner, I'm curious about the PSN.

I don't recognize the titles of the games listed in each month.

Are they new properties?

For PS3 and 360 owners---how does the PSN game library compare to the XBOX Live Arcade?

Would you say the XBLarcade needs more new games? Sometimes I wonder where are all the independently made games from that whole XNA program...

PSN games are for now pretty much balanced between classics (PS1 games, Joust, etc), remakes (lemmings, stardust) or original games such as CAC, Locoroco, Pixeljunk, etc etc.
I like it personnally :)

For the most part, they are new properties/PSN exclusives.

I have bought a lot more PSN games then XBLA games. The XBLA usually has older or very traditional titles.

As a longtime 360 owner and a new PS3 owner, let me just say... the PSN Store is an EXTREMELY pale comparison to XBLA.

In fact, there shouldn't even be a comparison. To type "XBLA>>>PSN" implies that they're somehow equal enough to even be compared side by side, when that just isn't the case.

There ARE some great, GREAT PSN-only games - Everyday Shooter is AMAZING, as is super Stardust HD. I even liked the rubber duck game - Super Rub-a-Dub.

But no matter how you compare them - the interface/shopping experience, the release frequency, the number of quality titles, the release breadth... XBLA trounces PSN.

Some people will throw out Warhawk, but really folks, that's a combo title and shouldn't count. XBLA has been embarrassing PSN as of late.

Quit with the hyperboles.

So Warhawk's not on PSN?

Australian Store got most of the European stuff, along with - as usual - a bunch of music videos...quite a lot this week:

1200 Techniques - See Me
Bic Runga - Sway
Bic Runga - Winning Arrow
Butterfly Effect - Reach
David Campbell - End of the World
Paulini - Rough Day
Pete Murray - Better Days
Something For Kate - Captain
Shannon Noll - What About Me
TV Rock - Flaunt It

good week for us europeans!

btw. i`ll demand euro pricing in the op too. only the uk uses that old currency - europe = euro!

Well that's a new one Xbla vs PSN in this thread... granted it doesn't hurt to ask but a particular response from a certain poster could open flaming gates of flaming.

I disagree. A few weeks ago, PSN was getting most of the good stuff. The stuff coming to XBLA at the moment are mostly stuff I already own on PSP (If I weren't including them, PSN would definitely get the edge in downloads in my case, due to Tekken 5 DR Online and Warhawk especially). XBLA was originally pale when it first came, but it's finally coming together. The same will happen to PSN once more third parties hop on (right now, Sony is mostly making the content). Outside of a few multi-platform demos as out late, I'd say both are about even when it comes to demos (I'm talking about demos that came starting in late summer until now, the number on PSN/XBL is very close).

Anyway, I'm mostly waiting for Wipeout HD, but it probably won't come until November. Also wanting Toy Home, but it may be a while.

I'm at least hoping for Guitar Hero III and NFS: PS demo on PSN though today.

XBLA has more content, but I've bought more games on PSN than on XBLA.
Yep, pretty much my situation. XBLA definitely has more games, but I feel that the quality/variety of the games on the PSN is better.

Warhawk isn't a PSN game? Strange, I remember buying it off of my PS3 without ever going to the store and I can play it without using a disk.

McBradders said:
Is pixeljunk racers worth the money?
I never bought it, but I found the demo fun and the amount of content seemed good. Europe will probably get the demo too, so they can try it out before buying. Only bad thing has to do with HDTV being required to play it (if I'm right?).

How would you play GH3? do you hav a PS2 adaptor? would it even work with GH3? I'm not mocking BTW just curious to see if it would even be released. 360 owners can use GH2 guitars.

Tekken HD + Warhawk + Everyday shooter + Stardust HD disagree.

Same here.

And here... I even got a bunch of free MS Points for various screwups regarding my 360 and free when I bought GH II and haven't spent those points on much at all... that's not to say there hasn't been some top quality stuff on XBLA, they just seem to have hit game types or titles I didn't particularly care for lately... and damn it if I didn't buy Uno a while back to get a free voucher for it with my latest Live Gold subscription... *sigh*

wtf? DUTCH store did NOT get updated, all other euro stores did? GIVE ME MY F*CKING FOLKLORE pack. I want Aqua Vita too, if it isnt on there im not buying the playstation eye, you hear me sony?

Guys I'm sorry but I have a PS3 and 360, I buy the PS3 version over the 360 version anytime I can find a valid excuse(looking forward to COD4 now)

But dam PSN sucks, very little content(in comparison) and SLOOOOOOOOWWWWW yea I know it's free but who cares if it's so frustrating to even use in the first place.

GameStop and Wal-Mart in my area have Guitar Hero on PS2/360 kiosk a lot without a guitar (with people using the controller), so I'm thinking it might happen (but you are kind of right).

Me three. I own like 13-14 PSN games, along with 4 PS1 downloads. My download list on PSN is crazy.

Hmm, that's strange, because initially downloads were slow on PSN, but it seems like recently (well, past few months), downloads have been really fast, until my internet connection went down during heavy traffic time. What I do like about background downloads on PSN is if I turn off my PS3, my download starts off exactly where it was the last time I had my PS3 on (compared to starting me back 10-20% less on another console).

It sucks because I won't be able to download until late tonight, since I gotta make a trip later in the day. I kind of wished PSN downloads came in the afternoon, but oh well.

I wonder when the NA will get the Folklore pack (I just got Folklore too)?

Isn't that store the same for both Flanders and the Netherlands? It's updated in Flanders, so how come not up there ?

Both have great, unique games to offer, both took way too long to get up to speed from their inception, neither has a particularly excellent interface/shopping experience and both have their annoyances in this regard. There, I just did a comparison. Comparison isn't necessarily about establishing "equality", just similarities and differences. Fatalah doesn't own a PS3 so he's curious about what he's missing, not whether they're "equal" for the sake of console warz.

Is the european store down for anyone else? Tried the german and the UK store and i always get a connection error.

Edit: WTF, the US store too!

It'll probably be sometime tomorrow man, chill. ;) Unless it's already on by now, I assume it's going to be tomorrow. It happened in the past a few times too unfortunately.

Keep me updated btw, I'm at work right now. Not doing much though, but I can't check my PS3 right now. :p
