Actually, no. Not mad at all. There's not a single aspect of my post that indicates that I am mad. And why would I be mad when I don't even own a PS3? Wow indeed...

Thanks to all of the other posters who replied with intelligent and insightful comments! Much appreciated...

If so, then my apologies. The dissection of the free offer by you is typical of someone who does feel slighted, so perhaps I was reading too much into it. Thanks!

Norwegians and their crazy torsk money. Everybody there wears solid gold and has 2 ps3's in every room. :(

2 PS3s? :lol Filthy peasants. I have like 5 PS3s in my living room, and about 18 more scattered around the house. I also wipe my dog's ass with $100 bills. Damn it's good to be Norwegian.

I would like to see these kinds of numbers from Microsoft but I bet they would never give these types of numbers.
They don't even verify how many gold accounts they have.
This here tells you Sony was totally upfront with all the info that people wanted.

The claim is they released not only personal info on the execs but stuff like their kids' names what schools they attend.

If true, I'm sorry but Anon comes out looking REALLY bad in this whole thing. There are lines you don't cross. That's some really fucked up shit.
WTF.

I can understand that if they have a problem with some individual they can embarass him, something I wouldn't apply here because the decisions they are critizing can't be focused in a single individual, so it would make more sense to focus in the company, or in the company division.

But the poor children? What these children did?

Japan barely has enough PSN accounts to cover the PS3s sold there; throw in the current huge popularity of the PSP and foreigners making accounts to download demos, and the number seems really low.

USA has the most accounts? I thought that would be Japan or something.
You have to consider that a lot of people from other countries like me also have a US account.

For sure a lot of US, Japan and UK accounts are from foreigners.

we have a map of the world? Damn this huge cave, if only I had a map for this.

Ignorance isn't really something you should be championing. A quick google search will tell you what the populations of the US and Japan are. Google itself will literally tell you.

I don't think US would have 3x the amount as Japan. JP is PS country.

What is more interesting is the UK having more accounts than Japan!

I was thinking of China. I'm sorry.

How is that a surprise? European PSN gets jack shit worth making an account for, meanwhile JP and US PSN get all the cool shit...

Its a pity that its so easy to create accounts for other countries.

Would be interesting to know what the real spread is.

I will be happy once psn is on line, although a few freebies will be nice.

Bored now to be honest.

This.

I'm glad it's coming up in a day or so...I'm just about at my breaking point of not being able to play online. I've been pretty much mastering Raiden in MK...so that's been fun. But I wanna play some SOCOM really badly.

Yes. I'm ready to take my online beating in MK now.

If I make a US account, I can't use my European Visa debit card, right?

Just saw the whole bow gesture at the briefing.
Why did I find that so touching? It's strange to humanize a corporation.
Good on them, I think their response overall was good. I feel safe as a consumer.

Why ? it's pretty clear from hardware sold numbers that the US is way ahead of JP. Obviously, more accounts will be created for the US store.

OMG. Spain almost enters the Top 5. This is Sonyland, for sure!

Yep. Most of them work.

Free Sonic Episode 1 for ALL!!!!!

Would probably be the only way I'd get that game, especially after seeing Generations.

A specific date of when PSN will be up is disappointing, but it's Finals week for me anyway. Won't be able to go on until Thursday night, and it should be up by then I guess.

I'm happy that they will offer compensation to customers and satisified that Sony will upgrade their network. On the other hand they failed pretty hard security wise. The vulnerability was known to the rest of the world but not to Sony. I will remove my CC from PSN as soon as it's up and I will use prepaid cards from now on. When 77 millions accounts info are stolen because of a known weakness in their network it's very hard to trust Sony again. A bunch of games won't change the situation for me.They will pay the fees to issue a new card but my bank already covers that kind of fees anyway so it's pretty worthless.
I wonder if info for all 77 million accounts were stolen. Sony never confirmed this i think? But they couldnt rule out that it didnt happened either. Isnt it possible to check this through server logs, or is this where "covering your tracks" come in? (Sony said that the hacker tried to cover his/her tracks).

Sony said it was 1 hacker. So they must have some clue. They said up to 10 million credit cards info may be stoled, even they don't have anything that can confirm this.

They are working with FBI, some 9/11 guys, credit card companies and 2 leading on-line security companies investigating it.

Is that not just because they have 10 million credit cards stored?
So if they were stolen, they could have taken up to 10 million?

Sounds like a good plan: buying pre-paid PSN cards on Amazon.com and leaving my CC information at Amazon...

if amazon ever got hacked...oh man that would be a shitstorm. I couldn't even guess the amount of users they have.

You can always but them at the stores if you wish

Im not sure where else to ask about this but theres a lot of people in here that dealt with credit card fraud or know a decent amount about it...

I just got a phone call from the bank about my Mastercard that I rarely use saying that there is a 437.00 charge on it for Carribean Airlines yesterday. I didnt authorize that so now I have to cancel that card number, my online account, and have everything re-issued. Small pain in the ass but Ill deal, they said Im not responsible for it and wont have to pay it.

My issue is how else would they get that card number? Someone had to get the number from somewhere and the only time I used it recently was on Direct2Drive yesterday to buy Vampire:The Masquerade for 8 bucks. As of yesterday, the card existed on 3 websites...Amazon, newegg, and D2D.

What are the odds of having a keylogger? Are they common? I have MSE and spybot running all the time and do checks with malwarebytes frequently. The last spyware issue I had was on Sunday while searching google images, I got one of those fake spyware scanner pages that set MSE off and I got all the warnings and cleaned that right up.

Im so careful with this card too. Weekly emails to inform me of the balance even though the balance is almost always zero. The ONLY reason I used it for D2D was because my other card is cancelled because thats the one I used on PSN. Funny how that works :/

Sorry I sound so clueless but Im just little bewildered that I can be so careful and still have this happen. Im feeling hesitant to buy online ever again now.
