Dude might genuinely be missing some screws. Or just so fucking socially awkward he doesn't realise he was invited more as a joke. He probably thinks he's walking into a friendly get together where he's the special guest (star).

He went on Movie Fights as well. Dude just genuinely likes bull shitting about movies.

what else do you think is going to happen? they might crack some jokes about american ultra and his weird rants, but i'm sure he's prepared for that.

it's always funny to see older half in the bag episodes. it looks like over time jay has been slowly sucking the life force out of mike.

Good to hear. Maybe there's hope.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I guess I just don't get the reason for inviting him in the first place if it's just going to be non-confrontational. At least with Len there was genuine interest in what goes in the head of someone like him and the inverview was amazing.

Maybe someone told him 'they liked the prequels' could not have been more incorrect and he doesn't actually want to be a dick; He was just mad his movie bombed.

I think it would certainly be interesting to see what his intentions as a writer were regarding the movie and how it worked out, what he thinks about it, what he would change, how he approaches things etc., there's definitely a lot of interesting things they could talk about.

Yeah I guess. I see your points y'all. Fuck it, it'll be amazing.

I'm confused about the Steam Controller reactions. It's better than neither, so it's pointless, but it's actually in the middle ground, so it's kinda useful if you want something in the middle ground . . . except it's pointless?

I wonder if their reactions are going to change if they keep using the controller for a few months.

I took it as lacking the precision of a keyboard and mouse by a wide margin, better than a regular controller, but not by enough to justify the purchase.

The problem with Rich's solution is that I don't want a keyboard and mouse on my lap. That's why I want the controller.

Rich is a hardcore player who needs access to every key shortcut in a game so of course it's not going to replace it for him.

Jack just doesn't like it because it's not much better than the controller he already uses. But would he also prefer to use a keyboard and mouse on his lap too?

I don't even like using a full keyboard full of keys when I'm at my computer. I play a lot differently than pretty much anyone. I cannot use my right hand for mousing. I use my left and I use my Magic Trackpad on my MacBook Pro. I cannot use my left hand for movement, I use my right hand for movement and I use the arrow keys, not WASD. If I get a new game, the first thing I do is reconfigure the keys I know I'll use most to be near the trackpad and arrows. For instance in Minecraft, a first-person game, I put Inventory on forward slash so I can hit it easily. Or in GZDoom (Brutal DOOM) I have Reload on Shift and Kick on forward slash. Duck is Z and jump is A.

So personally I'm looking forward to getting one myself. Because it'll probably fill my light PC gaming needs more than my 360 controller does because of the trackpads for precision. (When I had a 360 I could play FPS games so easily with the controller. But since I started using my trackpad for first person games I must have gotten un-used to it because I can't use sticks anymore for some weird reason. I'm hoping the Steam Controller will bring that back.)

Well the point of the steam controller is to be able to play games that have no gamepad support on a gamepad. Stuff like Civ 5 or Europa Universalis.

They of course didn't try anything like that, and instead used it for traditional games with solid pad support already.

Yeah. I was hoping for them to at least do some point and click stuff like Skylines.

They solved that problem by using a piece of wood that Rich found from the dump.

I mean, I guess so. But if you just have a PC and want some kind of controller, this seems like something to recommend, but they didn't really address that--some games don't really work for mouse and keys (Twin Stick Shooters, Dark Souls, Fighting Games, RTS, etc.) I'd have liked to see a bit more commentary about the Steam Controller in these settings esp if I'm a PC gamer without a single console controller to use.

I guess, to me, it seemed like they didn't talk much about a pretty key reason to at least consider a steam controller.

They're coming from a position of someone who already owns a controller. I suppose they never thought of the situation where if you could somehow only choose one controller to buy, which one would you choose.

Keep in mind a lot of big mouse+keyboard games you also would not want to look at on a TV twelve feet away. I could never imagine sitting on a couch trying to play Europa Universalis or Civ or a Total War game.

There is an interesting middle ground between that and "direct action controller game", though. I'd love to see how something like Dawn of War II would play on a Steam Controller and a TV.

Buy a 3rd party 360 wired controller for $20 and spend the remaining $30 you saved on more games

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
It's hard to critique something as experience-based as a controller, so let me preface this by saying they are obviously entitled to their feelings as it's legitimately a preference

Their criticisms of the Steam controller can be a little weird, though. Like, at one moment they say, oh, I spent a few hours just configuring the pad and that's not something most people want to do, like there aren't community bindings or even default gamepad bindings. Then they immediately talk about community bindings, like it isn't even related to the thing they were talking about before.

I promise you there are bindings for just about every popular game on Steam already and that situation improves every single day. Even if there aren't bindings, the default gampad profile that emulates a 360 pad works well. If the game supports a controller already, then there is never a situation where a person can't just jump in and start playing.

Plus they didn't touch on the fact that this is the first controller that can get software updates that continually improve the it. Even from the time they recorded the video, they released a new feature that easily lets you bind lean to the gyro. And the weekend before they released the mouse-like joystick emulation, which vastly improves the right pad for positioning camera and aim.

For me, this isn't an absolute replacement to the keyboard and mouse. I play multiplayer fpses and while I could be better than some using the controller, I wouldn't be as good as myself with a keyboard and mouse. What it is a replacement for is a gamepad. I feel confident enough already using it for any game I've tried it with and in a game against other pads, I feel I perform better already.

Controllers are by their very nature a compromise. A purpose-built controller for specific game types would be radically different than the jack-of-all-trades controllers we have now. The Steam controller, for me, has different and ultimately less compromises versus other pads.

Jack talks about how they had to edit out points that they made, which probably contributes to that disjointedness. But for Rich, the problem is that anything other than m+k is a compromise, so of course there'd be no way he'd like it. lol

---

Anyone know when they talk about Fallout 4? I'm assuming they'll never review/stream it, so I'd be curious to see why they hate it.

Rich would rather carry a wood board around or use his armrest than give up m+kb so expecting him to say anything good about a controller is a stretch. What surprises me is that he doesn't really play twitchy shooters or strategy games or stuff that requires box selection to be such a m+kb guy. Not gonna argue it is more precise tho, so he still as a point but it's still a bit surprising.

They tried Fallout NV and was kind "meh" about it, so I don't think they have any interest in 4.

Max Landis in HITB.

oh, so Max Landis is going to be on HITB not BOTW?

The public invite (details were likely hammered out privately) was for Landis to drop by and chill out and watch some bad movies with RLM on BotW. But they might (also or instead) have agreed to do an interview, or he's going to appear on HitB, or they're going to street-fight in the back alley, or Landis is going to help them with Space Cop, or the next Plinkett Review, or any number of possibilities.

But if you visit RLM, the Plinkett's House set and the VCR Repair Shop set are just sitting there, so maybe he was just looking around, and then he said "Hey someone, take a picture of me inside Mr Plinkett's house."

These babies were waiting for me in the mailbox when I got home today! They were suppose to be released weeks ago, but got pushed back to this week for some reason. I got them for $11 each on Amazon, but they are now selling for $16 each.

Damn, they aren't kidding either! I am unable to do direct screen grabs, so these are off screen. Deadly Prey is a blurry and grainy mess. It looks like a good quality VHS copy. I will have to compare it to my DVD copy to see if its a reasonable improvement. I haven't looked at Deadliest Prey yet, but it's disc does not have the image quality warning that Deadly Prey has.

TBQH I don't know if I really want Deadly Prey to look better than a fifth generation VHS copy. Miami Connection was a revelation on blu-ray, but I feel Samurai Cop lost something being cleaned up so much, lost some of the "warmth" of the fuzzy old video masters.

Ran into a porn video that opened with the Wheel of the Worst music; had to immediately close out of it.

I cannot make that association in my mind. Fuck the Wheel, but not fuck the wheel.
