Resident Evil 4, 5, 6 – Announce Trailer (PS4/Xbox One)

Hopefully they do a big compilation. Not feeling RE6 for $20 or RE5/4 for that matter. Played them way to much.

That said if RE2make comes with RE3 in some form then we would be able to play every mainline Resident Evil game on one platform not including PC.

Get lost CV:X

I'll definitely play RE5 and RE6 again! Sweet coop experiences, I'll try to bring a friend over to the series too.

Is it too much to expect sexy Chris alternate costumes?

6, 5 and then 4. Resident Evil truly is the series that improved as it went on.

As in there's no special menu to select the game or anything is what he means. You don't get taken to a "Select Game" screen like you do in say The Nathan Drake Collection. It just plops the games on the HDD like you downloaded them. With no indication you even have a physical copy.
And then it tells you to put the disc in when you try to load one. And you have to fully install them before you can play. The way the REMAKE / RE0 disc works is not normal.

It's only a minor thing if these follow suit, but something to be aware of.

RE6 took the "land a critical hit to set up melee" gameplay that started with RE4, expanded in RE5 and just turned the dial to eleven.

Pretty much. If it was made clearer to those who skipped RE4 and 5 that a melee from stun is the most powerful attack you have, and that you can get stuns not only from critical hits and flash grenades, but also from quickshots and slides, then people would probably appreciate the game more.

RE6 is basically the logical evolution of RE4, at least mechanically.

The main problem with 6 is that it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long/bloated. A lot of the terrible design decisions could have been mitigated/overlooked if it didn't overstay its welcome by 10+ hours.

It's ironic because Capcom thought that RE4 was too long and deliberately dialed down the size of RE5. Then they went and made RE6, not only by far the biggest RE game, but one of the biggest games they've ever made in terms of content.

I wouldn't be surprised if they U-turn again and park RE7 somewhere in the 20 hour bracket.

"Physical disc versions will also be available in the Americas."

I fucking hope Europe gets a disc version. Would be day zero purchase.

Look, I like Resident Evil 4 as much as the next guy but seeing people dismiss Resident Evil 5 and throwing it under the bus like this truly disgusts me. To me RE5 is a much better game both gameplay wise and story wise.

Resident Evil 4 might have revolutionized the series but 5 expanded it and made it better.

In Mercenaries, Chris will have his Samurai costumes (in their blue and red versions).

And of course like all the characters, we'll also get retro Chris.

Though my two favorite 'retro' costumes are Leon & Sherry's.

The lost in shadows dlc in that picture only came to PC when the GFWL transition happened and was available for free to people who already owned the game.

I know there was previous dlc for the pc version, but the dlc in question (since someone was initially suggesting the pc didn't get that dlc) came later for free to people who owned the game.

I'm not mixing anything up.

None of the Gold DLCs were free, ever, on Steam. Period.

You're gonna have to come with some receipts for what you're saying

Sorry it has coop, instantly makes it garbage

Also, they're not going to do it probably, but I don't think anyone would complain if they removed that terrible prologue chapter (that's just a more automated version of a segment you play later in Leon's campaign).

I the only person who thinks RE6 has a really good shooting mechanics? The story mode with the original awful FOV and the stumble-into zombie movement are the two things who makes the game really bad, at least in the solo story mode.

But, when you play the game in the mercenaries mode, with corrected FOV and all the maps big enough to move, shoot, get on the ground and everything, RE6 becomes a really, really good shooting game

Can't deal with tank controls at this point. I'd love to play it, but the control scheme makes it too difficult.

Never know what they may add to 4 with it so far out. I don't think 6 was tank though.

RE5 is just better version of RE4 because it has coop.

Will be buying all of these again then. No retail version for EU though? What is this nonsense.

RE5 had a better narrative, gunplay, and some standout encounters (though just as many fell flat), and the coop. RE4 was superior in overall encounter design, A.I. behavior, and replayability. Pacing and Mercs I put about equal. 5 had those terrible set piece events like the Gigante sequence.

Many people try and play it as a shooter, because there's a cover system and guns, and I guess that's the natural tendency? But if they were better able to convey that the game is a brawler, it would've been better for everyone.

RE6 took the "land a critical hit to set up melee" gameplay that started with RE4, expanded in RE5 and just turned the dial to eleven. Idk how many people get that.

Fine if it's not someone's thing, but it's unique in the industry, and fucking awesome.

If the encounter and level design was just as expertly crafted, it would have been received much better. I honestly only felt that the mechanics shined in Mercs, and likely most people gravitate to the hit-and-miss campaign.
When are we getting 2 and 3?

REMAKE 2 is only 6 or so months in development, so I'd expect a 2018 release. Unless they roll REmake 3 in with 2, development on that will depend on their marketing effort and result of such in selling REmake 2.

Will have played the same game on three different generations of the same platform - and I won't even think twice about doing it.

RE5 canbe played without tank controls. You just can't move and shoot. I mean I think it's balanced for tank controls and should be played that way, but you can totally have aiming on the right stick and strafing on the left.

$20 a pop is really steep, but I have wanted to give 5 another go. All three are sitting on my PS3 hardrive picked up at bargain prices because I didn't expect they'd actually port them.

Here's hoping the lighting in RE4 is at least as good as the Gamecube version.

The insistence on using the PS2 version as the base for ports has really aggravated me in the past.

I just realized I've only played the Gamecube version of 4. So even if they don't do much with the remaster, there will still be stuff I've never encountered in my favorite game :)

I've always ran with he default scheme, so that's a surprise.

will buy again

Just need 0 and Revelations 2 this gen..

I know what I'm doing for 30 days of horror this Halloween, Resident Evil Fest.

I'm pretty sure the other ports don't use the PS2 version as the base. They have the added stuff, but they also have the graphical effects and enemy numbers the PS2 version was missing.

Ps2 was only the base for the first PC version. 360 and PS3 (and steam RE4) all used the game cube version as the base... however 360 and PS3 were missing effects (and substituted some) that were specific to the game cubes hardware.

This will almost certainly use the recent PC port, so you will likely be getting 60 fps and some improved textures etc along with all of the game cube effects (which took a patch to get working on PC, but they got there).
