Resident Evil 5 - Xbox 360 vs PS3 Demos Comparison

Full Size screenshots added in the OP.

The differences are way more noticeable there.
Don't worry, if you prefer the 360 demo look turn up your tv sharpen settings:

I'm not seeing anything that would particularly put me off either version. In this case I guess it would come down to framerate.

They are the same. Well, somewhat. The 360 version has some audio files removed in the US demo, but the ps3 versions are all 1:1 with each other.

Strange about removing audio, but I figured as much with it being the same otherwise - which was why I didn't get the decision to hold the worldwide demo releases back when it was already a universal language demo for both consoles...

Texture resolution is identical but the image rendering is slightly softer on PS3. I doubt this is even perceptible on a TV, let alone when in motion.

I played the demo on PS3 about 10 times last night. I don't recall any obvious or even remotely annoying framerate dips.

I have no idea if that is true about the texture res being the same for both, especially since there are actual details missing like in the faces, but as long as it doesn't bother you and stop you from buying the game, that's the most important thing I guess...

Question though: are you playing the PS3 version on an SDTV? That would be why you wouldn't notice framerate problems as everyone else on HD says that you can't miss them...

Would be nice if someone with both versions could provide HQ off-screen pictures. I want to see the difference in action.

Jeeso!

U really need a magnifying glass to see these differences - wehn your playing it's not gonna be any different at all.

Go back last gen and compare something like Splinter Cell Xbox vs PS2, then we can talk differences.

The differences between the PS3 and 360 are tiny here, and are subjective in terms of taset as to preference.

If this is an early PS3 build then I am amazed because I couldn't find any Screen Tearing issues which the 360 was full of (Even more than Mass Effect). Side by side it looks like 360 has an egde on the Texture resolution.

That one's an issue with the 1080i/1080p output. Sort of hard to compare what the PS3 version does in that case... given it doesn't have the options.

A sharpening effect will not bring back the detail missing from the blur image in the PS3 version. It will just apply an artificial sharpening effect based on the texturing around but will not be nearly as accurate as the original render. That, considering your TV has this feature and applies it as good as Photoshop does (which obviously doesn't)

Next time people will come suggesting to apply a soften effect on TVs to dissimulate the lack of antialiasing in some games.

I'd go for the best experience out of the box any day - where out of the box implies no install times.

the PS3 version has 2.4 more pixels on Chris' ear and an extra bullet in each ammo clip you get... but I hear the 360 version allows Sheva's hair to flow in the wind at 60fps with NO FLICKER OR SLOWDOWN even with 28 infected on screen at once.

which to choose... damn.... :(

but as far as the demo, Sheva got owned pretty quick by axe-guy last night, ending my short playthrough. I guess I wouldn't advise anyone to try to play this drunk.

Again, old as hell. You people are about to get worked up over nothing. Regardless, I say this will get to 251 pages.
Thank you. And the game in those screens look pretty much identical. The framerate issues look like they will be a no-factor in the final game. I'm PS3 only, so I don't have the benefit of comparing the game on another system. I'm not worried about how the final game will compare on each system. I think the game looks beautiful in the demo. The important thing for me is the framerate, which kinda dipped when the zombies/ganados started pouring in at the PA section. :(

PS3 has Vsync on, which leads to framerate issues.

Why can't we do one of these threads without having meltdowns? Multiconsole owners should be able to get together and discuss the technical details of each game version without having fanboy meltdowns and blind people offering their gratuitous commentary. If you don't care or can't see a difference, fine. If you want to purchase the best possible version of a game, and base your definition of "best" around technicalities, then this thread is for you. People who are well versed in technical jargon are discussing said jargon and evaluating how each game is being presented and the implications of that. There really doesn't need to be so much crap in the thread. Discussing capturing equipment and making gifs of framerate issues has value and is pertinent to the topic. Whining about agendas at other forums is not.

There's no agenda here and it doesn't really necessarily matter what version you're getting.
You only say that because you're a
lolol
fanboy.

Not if it is based off the review copy or close to, which seemingly should be a fairly current build. See German Gamepro review link I posted earlier. FR issues remain.

Don't worry, if you prefer the PS3's slowdown, just blink rapidly while playing.

No there were none on 720p HDMI, notta. I've played it close to 40 times or so now and if there were any I certainly missed them for sure. Upscaled 1080p HDMI a few times in the cut-scenes aye. Certainly no where near ME issues. VGA I hear is another story however.

Ugh, a fail troll.

PC will have an install, and it will the best version

I have the feeling that those so-called framerate drops are just some lag problem. The framerate didn't bother me at all when playing alone, but I had quite a few hiccup when playing online.

No it's not, it's also mentioned in reviews.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I noticed in the PS3 version that the closer you get to the textures, the sharper they get. This is very apparent when watching Chris' shoulder while he's aiming at something with his gun. The textures on the shoulder kind of blurs out when the camera gets a bit away from it, but sharpens up when it gets closer. Well, part of 'em anyway.

The black parts of the shoulder kind of look like leather (which isn't what they intended, I'm sure) when you aim towards the ground as opposed to aiming straight forward, getting a close-up view.

That's it? That's all the fuss?!

Dammit, I'm just going to buy the PS3 and 360 version asking people what they like better and start randomly throwing them at people's heads.

I just went through the game again with a friend on PSN, and the game looks and runs fine. There was frame rate slowdown in Public Assembly when you're running down the middle the first time, but after that it was fine. We had fun and played together 5 times before I had to leave. We're both getting it day 1 and playing with each other and friends.Doesn't matter which version looks better because they look the same apart from the slight blurriness of the PS3 version.

Having fun is what matters, and none of the technical hiccups prevented us from having that. I hope Capcom fixes the slight slowdown, but even if they don't I will consider it highly.

Oh Aqanox, you haven't changed a bit. Still spouting your usal bullshit and trying to lure in PS3 fan-boys.

All screen comparison threads need to die. They achieve nothing but arguments, trolling and bans.

Am i right in thinking the PS3 demo was like 950mb whereas the 360 demo was about 500mb? I was expecting the PS3 to have higher res textures or something... whats up with the filesize difference?

Capcom seems to be still having trouble with PS3 development if anything else.

Played the PS3 demo last night and I did not see the blur that the comparison screens show. It looked as sharp as 360 screens on my TV (I did not adjust any sharpness or any thing either). Wonder why these comparison screens always show PS3 blurry? Is it their TV settings or what?
