This might be the first time the voice scripting/acting has actually rendered a game unplayable for me. Wow. That was torture to listen to.

you've clearly never played House of the Dead 2 :lol

Capcom Europe did a very interesting Q&A session with Kawata and Noguchi which answers a lot of questions asked by community members. It is ten minutes long, but completely worth it as they mention a bunch of information we didn't know before.

For anyone who prefers the more compact version, I updated the Wikipedia article and brought it up-to-date with what we know so far.

PS: Can't wait to hear the soundtrack.

Very nice :)

Another demo track has been released! Just as I expected, this game will have some great original compositions.

I like it. But RE music has always tickled my fancy.

What's sad though is that I'm almost anticipating this more than RE5.

Yes!!!

One of my biggest complaints about UC was that it wasn't even trying to be scary and the constant crappy rock guitar riffs killed any sort of mood.

How the hell am I supposed to watch these? Or was I suppose to listen to this?.....?

EDIT: Nevermind...

EDIT2: Looks great. You still get the feeling though that this could have been amazing in 3rd person.

This has got to be the best game script ever!

Claire: "Look, there's some information we need to find out. Were there any computers around here?"
Steve: "There are three and guards...eh...only used them for games...oh, and porn, too!"

Claire "What was that?"
Steve "Maybe it was just the wind"
Claire "That's not wind"
Steve "Yeah, I know."

:lol Awesome.

"It's a person! Could be dead...or alive."

I know he meant that it could be a zombie, but it just sounded really, really stupid.

What worries me about the videos is how much down time there is. I know they're trying to reveal more about the plot, but the ratio of slooooooowly looking around environments without enemy targets and listening to bland exposition vs. actual shooting looks awful for a rail shooter. I can't help but think replaying levels will be a chore as a result. What's even worse is that half the time it looks like you're finally ready for action the character is suddenly like "OMG, we can't make it through, run away!"

Anyways, the game looks good, I'm just hoping the gameplay has better pacing than the trailers are letting on. Hopefully everything comes together in time for release. Oh, and less steady cam please. I know they toned it down, but it still looks obnoxious. Tracking zombies as they sway to and fro is enough without compounding the seesaw effect with overwrought "cinematic" camera work.

The first time I played Umbrella Chronicles, I hated it.

The second time, it grew on me and I played for 5 hours straight :lol

Having played other RE games before though, the fact that headshots weren't "critical" in RE:UC was quite a jarring difference. I hope that's changed in this one...

Yeah, there was a sweet spot you had to hit to make their heads pop. If I recall, it was like dead-center at the top of their forehead.

It always felt a few inches too high to me, like the crest of their skull. What bugged me was that if you didn't hit that exect sweet spot you could unload 1/4 clip from a submachine gun into their face and their head would still be whole. It wasn't a game killer, but it was pretty ridiculous.

It truly was stupid.

IGN has new videos from the Comic-Con build (both direct feed and off screen). Looking good. http://media.wii.ign.com/media/143/14328873/vids_1.html
Gah, I'm so conflicted. Not to beat a dead horse, but as I watched the full off screen footage the camera drove me absolutely nuts, especially because everything looks so awesome otherwise. You can hear the rep talking about how it's through the eyes of the character this time around, blah blah blah, as some sort of awesome feature, but as it bobs and weaves wildly at inopportune moments it's as if your character has cerebral palsy. Not to mention some of the zooming is also pretty bizarre. Maybe I missed the part of RE where Claire has bionic eyes?

I know there's a certain stigma behind the "funhouse ride" aspect of rail shooters that a more active camera is supposed to help alleviate, but certain conventions exist for a reason. It could be a make or break issue for the title, which looks potentially amazing. I just hope the developers aren't too stubborn to absorb the criticisms from the gaming press and work on making the gameplay experience a little more stable when it needs to be. Considering the sheer amount of atmosphere going for it I'm desperate to see them get this game right. The fact that it's been slated for 2010 gives me hope that they'll have time to iron things out. Until then I'll just cross my fingers.

Btw, can anyone who attended E3 confirm whetheror not the Comic-Con build is the same one shown at E3?

I seriously hope it doesn't become too distracting. The added cinematics and "in your face" experience is the main reason for me to pick this up. I already have(played and finished) these games in their original form.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
The horribly sluggish and jerky pointer movement of Umbrella Chronicles wrecked the first for me, and Capcom don't seem to think it's an issue. Still looks to have a stupidly low framerate whenever there are any enemies on the screen, and thus I wont be buying.

I finally beat Code Veronica X last night, allowing me to now say I've beaten every mainline RE game. Whoooooo~

Last boss is ridiculous in so many ways.

Those look amazing, the atmossphere of the RE franchise has been captured quite well. About the camera shaking, I think I'll manage. There are some moments where the camera goes all over the place, but when fighting of zombies you can clearly see there is enough time for aiming your weapon in the right way.

Definetly going to purchase.

I remember those exact zombie models from Umbrella Chronicles. (talking about the boxart)

And they've totally Leon-ified Steve's design.
