Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Teaser Trailer

Supposedly Romero was going to do an RE film that was going to be a 1:1 film of the game, and in a rare move of wisdom, it got shot down. And Anderson pitched his brilliant concept.

This is also the man who did Event Horizon(and of course, Mortal Kombat), so it's not like RE is his only laurel.

Yeah I'm actually unashamedly an Anderson fan. He makes movies that are dumb as hell, but he's such a geek about all the material he adapts and it translates to a lot of fun on screen. I unironically like RE and AvP. In a field of schlock purveyors like Michael Bay and Rob Zombie, Anderson is the standout IMO.

Minus the dig at Zombie, I agree.

This series is Anderson's Star Wars. He's a weird, but slick, hybrid of Lucas, Carpenter and Tarantino.

THEY BROUGHT BACK THE LASERS :D
haha that laser scene in the first movie is still the best, lol that guy got sliced into cubes

I hope Wesker becomes leader of earth at the end

The hive in the first film was much smaller than the labs later in the series and we've already seen much of it. I wonder how they will get around this.

Maybe there is a secret area beneath it all? Like Alice could've beaten the bad guys back in the first film if only she'd found the entrance. Like that bit in Labyrinth with the little worm.

What a hot gaaaahbage trailer.

Something as bad as Milla deserves. This should be a straight to home video release.

Huh, didn't know that. The more laser hallways in RE media, the better.

Yessss. Hopefully there's a full take of Milla doing Helena's triple quick shot animation from the game.

RE6 for life.

Almost platinumed that game and I have never seen that animation. I never did touch Mercs though, could you do it in the campaign? What is the button input?

What in the world is with the editing for this trailer? Yikes.

January release date, huh? That's strange. Haven't all the sequels been released in August or September?

Stunt woman accident basically delayed the film for a year. It was supposed to be out... December? last year I think.

Roll to ground->Quick-shot->Quick-Shot->Quick-shot. AFAIK. Only with the Wesker shotgun though.

Eh, does it really matter? So long as the retread is basically ending the series they can go back to Raccoon and make that the reason and it'd be alright. Much better than where the fifth film ended (GLOBAL ZOMBIE SATURATION)

Can't wait, but... that music choice feels terrible. I miss the tech-metal OST from the first film.

International trailer = instantly better.

Milla's still damn fine, though.

For the record:

1>4>5>3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2

No way man, it's:

1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2 (due to Nemesis being practical effects) >>>>>> 2 (in general) > 5 > 4 > 3

Though really, they could've ended with the second and the series would be in a far better state. Though IMO they should've ended with just the first. That cliff-hanger of her in Raccoon was alright and she wasn't a total Mary Sue in the first.

in the first movie, sure
but this is the 4th or 5th time they doing it

No, it's the second (or third, forgetting if the 4th had it) in the films. It only seems overplayed because Biohazard 4 LITERALLY lifted it from the first film.

RE6 for life.

The movies have more than once done (horrible) re-imaginations of key game scenes, eg claire's move from CV's intro, the entirety of one of RE5's Wesker fight scenes among the notable ones', so you can bet they'll try that shit at least once in this movie.

As crazy as that ending was, President Wesker made it okay.

2 ruined the promise of 1's ending in every way, shape, and form. It was just a joke. When the best part of a movie is Omar 'GTA Motherfucker!' Epps, you have a problem.

He was fun in 3, I'll give him that, but 4 was a big giant 'I'm back, bitches!' from Anderson, and I loved it.

Extinction (3) is the only one I think is actually a pretty good film. Most people think it's one of the worst. For me it actually, again, feels like a film through its cinematography and storytelling. It's the only one that actually gave me a sense of desolation and horror. I'm not saying it's great, but if I had to rank them it would easily be at the top.

I'm with you, 3 is highly watchable and entertaining. I'm torn between that and the first for my favorite.

5 is alright too, it's mostly fun. 2 hardly holds up after the first viewing but I like Jill and the RE2/3 city setting. 4 is a literal crawl, the 3D was the best here but that's all it had going for it, tough to sit through it without it, and it really didn't seem to match up to the world in 3.

Also that cant be a real alternate costume....wait nvm of course it is.

Edit: appologies for the double post.

Retribution was neat, despite tons of shitty scenes and the deplorable handling of certain characters. Look, I don't ask that they perfectly replicate everything, but it's like they just took a random dude, gave him the Leon RE4 jacket and called him Leon. Nobody really wanted that. Same for Barry, though Barry was a little cooler.

I did like the story in it, I thought it was really creative. Terrible movie, but I don't hate. Extinction is the only one that made me feel like I was watching a sort of RE movie.

I'm with you. 3 is the best by a country mile for me. One of those movies I was ready to write off but actually surprised me.

Lol yes Leon is by far the worst thing about Retribution, he's a total assclown. His writing is beyond out of character, which is something I expect from Paul W. S. Anderson, but holy shit this was something extraordinary. I had a real good laugh at him trying to make Alice abandon the little girl, and sexually assaulting Ada.

At least with a camera, is all I'm saying. I'm not saying it's some great film but you can tell that a different director (Russell Mulcahy) came at it with a different set of goals. Even the script was far more interested in its characters. On some very basic cinematic terms, it's easily the best of the five so far.

Braindead as fuck. I had a problem with Leon being a little boring in the RE6 game, but at least that was recognizably Leon. I do know that Anderson isn't bullshitting when he says he plays the games and he's a huge fan-- he was at the RE7 demo at E3 this year and does speak like he knows the games through and through, but when he actually tries to replicate things it falls flat. Like... Jill is super cool and likable to me, in the movies he's a bitchy smoker. I'm like wut

Honestly, Chris, Claire and Wesker are the ones that Anderson really got right.

The French trailer has some different footage.

It shows off some of the action stuff in the US trailer better, plus more monsters. There's a super brief glimpse of what looks like a zombie dog from RE1.

I didn't like RE: Afterlife very much the first time I saw it. I thought it was, like you said, a crawl. But my appreciation for it really grew after I revisited it on Blu-Ray. The pacing seemed to improve and I really enjoy it, now. Not my favorite in the series, but definitely very enjoyable.

Man. Am I fucking crazy or does this not look like it's taking some inspiration from Terminator with the future wasteland at night looking shots?

I have to say, it makes it look pretty cool. I'm expecting Anderson level movie making here make no mistake about it, but it looks way better to me than his last few efforts. It has that more gritty and less sterile cinematography and environments, closer to Extinction.

Also: "my name is Alice... this is the end of the story. Of my story."

Seeing those mutations. Imagine what a world would look like if these resident evil plagues/viruses were made to compete with the Thing on earth.

To be fair, I think the sterile look was deliberate, since so much of the series has been in labs.

I like that look for labs, yeah. Especially in the games. I like going from grit to sterilization, it's a nice change in atmosphere/setting. But here I like how we're going back to the Hive and it's in ruins. Reminds me of stuff like Shadow Moses in Metal Gear Solid 4, or even the original visitor's center in Jurassic World.

Wow is that the monster from 3?
He looks good.ish

Turns out I don't remember that movie anymore, at all. I literally had no idea Jorah Mormont had previously wandered into Resident Evil.

also, effects were never W.S. Anderson's weak point.
International trailer looked okay. I'm obviously not a fan anymore, but I'll take a conclusion. Though I am cynical enough to think
they're just gonna kill her off and the world is still fucked.

I expected a return from the dogs after they sat the last film out.

I like how Anderson shuffles the various series signatures in and out of rotation, like Lucas did with Star Wars. Some things are in each film, some in most, some in a few and some in only one. Creates the familiar feeling while leaving room for surprises.

I like the part where she hangs on a rope upside down and spins slowly like a stripper to 90s rock music. Bet it won't synchronize the same way in the actual movie.
