Rockstar has removed several transphobic elements from next-gen GTA V

The era of games that sarcastically roast society and everyone in it are, sadly, at an end. It's why I have no excitement about the new Saints Row. There was a game franchise that purposely talked mad shit about race, gender, religion, and society with no fucks given. It was even more over the top than GTA. But now everything has to be curated, sanitized, and approved before release to make sure it doesn't offend any 'identity group', even slightly (except straight white males, we're still fair game).

Western society has forgotten how to take a joke anymore. Comedians we consider legendary would be canceled immediately if they tried to perform their classic routines today. People are so thin skinned, it's embarrassing.

GTA has a history of such tasteless jokes. That was the Point. It was crass and insensitive on purpose. This is the style of the game in general. Remember the prolapse stores in vice City... And the faggio bikes etc..

From what I can understand we unfortunately will not archive anything because the more we try to force something more frictions will begin. It is like a vicious circule that might only get worsen.division and miss understanding

I find this mentality of "You can't have an opinion or say anything about [x] if you're not exactly of type [x]" to be... very interesting. And not in a good way.
 
I wish people who were against the mob wouldn't accept and use their words. How is having a trans action figure or trans person talking about their hormones "phobic?"

Also, have you ever stumbled across a trans group on Reddit or Twitter? Most of the conversations I saw were about hormones or how long they'd been taking them.
 
Wonder how their revenue got hit because of trans jokes. That 41% suicide rate must be true if even rockstar is following suit. Or theres a trans person or a person with a trans child in the higher ups.

They can't top the real world in parody at this point anyways. Now that they have to follow the woke rules it's a wrap.

Better that they go for a serious and realistic tone with GTA6.

It's still going to be satirical, they're just not going to make jokes targeting minority groups because there's no need to. It's lazy, boring and tasteless.

Yes, because the only people who should have jokes made about are people who are well off and part of the "privileged" society? Oh, but only when you view it from a west coast americanocentric point of view, of course. Need to baby and protect all the "minorities" of the US from jokes! We all know they are too infantile to deal with them and need to be babied.

Just in case you didn't get the blatant sarcasm of the last sentence, I will just straight up tell you that I was being blatantly sarcastic. They are grown adults that can take a joke. Trying to baby and protect them is more insulting. It treats them as other than as being part of a whole. NO ONE should be free from being made fun of. End of story.

I think the reason for the madness is that there's so much information out there that people feel like they have to be extreme to be "seen" at all.

For example, on audience-review websites like IMDB or the user reviews on Metacritic, people voting 0's and 10's aren't doing so because they think the content deserves a 0 or 10----they are trying to sway the overall average, and they have the greatest impact by voting at the extremes.

I think the same thing happens in politics and discourse. People go further left or right of their individual stances to feel like they can have any impact on the overall. The majority in the middle gets ignored, or they don't speak up in the first place because their positions would get lost in the emotional/physical/verbal violence of the radicals.

1 - you're not everyone and you can't talk about everyone so refrain from doing that.
2 - Italians aren't a minority group that has there rights taken from them and have groups of people targetting them and killing them.

Either remove every single negative stereotype from your satirical game, or none.

Anything else is hypocritical, unbalanced, and pandering to one group, while ignoring every other.

All that's needed is consistency.

At the same time that I see where they are coming from, I wonder where we draw the line?

Should they also remove all their satirical representation of minorities? Or any other group that could get offended?

Another point is: GTA games are becoming time machines

I read an article some days ago about how GTA IV was like going back in time, showing a New York from 2008, with radio stations showing satirical news about what was happening back then, post 09/11 terrorism and so on

Our world view may have changed since 2013, but I think that its important to keep some things unchanged for us to remember how things (and ourselves) have transformed over the years
