Come on, that is not the point. Removing it does absolutely nothing but earn brownie points. It sends a message to the fans: we will now pander to what the status quo is.
It's true, some people here hate trans people, to the point they imagine them being in games like TLOU2, but that doesn't change the fact that one can be concerned they won't push the envelope as far as they did in the past anymore, because we now have protected categories out there.
Yeah, I'm with you, making fun of trans people for being trans and gay people for being gay si absolutely low lever trash, but you can still make fun of the insane shit we hear constantly.
A great satire of American society today should absolutely hit the right, with their Jesus freaks and the insane low standards that make you call Donald Trump the best president of all times, but it should also make fun of the terrible state of the media, trans activists and the harm they're making to the LGBT community and all the race baiting.

It is a nine-year old game that they are still monetizing, they are only "coerced" so far as they want to make as much money as possible, and the changes are so god damned minor that only someone who is actively tracking "woke trends" would have ever noticed.

Well, the bigger question is - are creators allowed to make changes to their work?
And if they are (and I believe that they are), is it possible to step over the line?
Removal of two jokes changes the original vision way less than higher framerate, resolution, improved graphics and especially HDR support (which makes the game prettier, but affects the tone of the game).
You can still purchase the original version and you can boycott R if you don't like this (although I am sure that I will see all the people complaining in the GTA6 OT).
There were way "worse" examples like Superhot VR. I've bought that game and I get why they've made the changes, but in that case, the game would affect me way less if I've played it after it was patched.

Cp2077 has got to be the most trans friendly game ever made. Choose your own voice, genitalia, and there's even a trans character voiced by a real trans. Everyone in night city is a commodity, no matter the gender.
But how it turns out? 2077 is called as being the most transphobic game! People are also criticizing that it is not making enough effort to change the "pronouns" for different voices! To record another hundreds and thousand of lines just to cater to them.
It is never enough, and never about logic. It's about shutting you up deliberately and you have to swallow it. The moment you voice something slightly to the contrary, then they can attach you with whatever "phobic" or "cist" term that is trendy.

This is dumb. I'm pretty sure they left the white jokes in there still, the black jokes still in, etc. As they should be: it's a satire of exaggerated American criminal culture and it's entertainment aimed at ADULTS. Also these are criminals; they are not saints and never meant to be, so of course they are going to say offensive things. Imagine Tony Soprano, Walter White or Omar taking a pause to ask for a victim's pronouns before shooting them. Unless it's comedy, it's dumb.
This is just more of the coddling of adults and regression of sensibilities. It's showing preferential treatment for one group over others: either they are too "good" to be given the same level of treatment of others, or are too "weak" and infantile to handle treatment others might be subjected to. Either way, it sends a pretty bad and I'd say even condescending message to the group they supposedly are trying to empower or protect.
But also keep this in mind: like with most overt political virtue-signal moves, it's NOT the majority of the people in the group itself asking for this stuff. Mainly, because that majority are only a statistic in the eyes of the people at these companies who do these things. Rather most of the time, the only ones wanting this stuff or care enough to want it, are in the extreme minority, and tend to be hyper-progressive liberal whites.
All I'm saying is, if you want to remove or ban jokes about one group, if you actually believe in genuine equality you'd remove and ban jokes about all groups. Fair is fair. There's no point in doing this selectivity IMO. And yes I understand that certain types of people may tend to be the butt of jokes or harassment more than others, and that's unfortunate. It shouldn't be like that, but if you want that to change then it has to be organically and come from hearts and minds of people changing from within, not giant corporations and governments coddling & treating full-functioning, grown adults like children and chiding them on what's right from wrong.

It's bad enough they pull music due to licensing, it's another then they change things because 1% of 1% of the population MIGHT be offended and not buy it.
Not that I was ever going to buy this again. I bought it when it came out and played it how the artists and world builders intended. If I want to play it with better visuals I can add mods that make it an order of magnitude better looking than what Rockstar slapped together.

Multi-million seller game with extremely lucrative online counterpart developer is not afraid at all lol, what are you talking about? They could've let this in the game and nothing would change but maybe, just maybe, they have a brain, saw they did this 9 years ago, realized it was low effort and tasteless and decided to take out of the game.
